  1. Hi, I have just started the 1/72 Zvezda Me Bf 109 F-2, and it is a great kit! I have decided to use the Xtradecal X72-162 sheet, with a view to do the second option: White 2 of III/JG 53. I have been searching my doc and the internet for a photo of this specific plane, but to no avail. XTradecal confirm that there is indeed a photo of the plane in the following book: Malta: The Spitfire year 1942: page 126. So if any of you happened to have this book, I would really appreciate if you could send me a scan of this photo. Furthermore, Xtradecal stipulates that the mottle camouflage on the sides is RLM 02, 70 and 71. I would personally see the mottle in RLM 74 and 75. If any of you has any idea on the above. please let me know. Thanks a lot. JR
  2. Hello. I have some photos to post but I do not use any of these photo sharing sites. So how can I share what I have been working on?
  3. What are your recommendations for taking well lit photos for my models? What type of background, what type of lighting, etc...
  4. While looking for DH 91 Albatross reference photos, I found this collection. Lots of great detail photos, including a Fortress II (B-17E) with Yagi antennas! Some excellent modeling project material as well as a list of serials for many of the types. I hope you will enjoy looking at them and that this collection has not been posted before. 5. I have just been browsing the Italeri 1/72 snap together armoured vehicles. I know they are really aimed a gamers - but are they any good??? I want to practice my painting on smaller kits and don't really want to spend an age building stuff - only to mess them up immediately I hit them with some paint. So these snap together kits seem an ideal subject to practice on. But - are they a load of rubbish??? Any opinions / links / photos would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance - Steve
  6. Hi Apologies if I seem to be a bit dim, but I can't work out how to add images. I'd like to add one to my profile, and also include some within my posts. When I click the "Insert other media" button the only options I seem to see are: (a) insert existing attachment or (b) insert image from url. I've tried linking to my Dropbox account by copying and pasting its url but that doesn't work, neither does drag and drop. Do I need to open an external account such as Flickr or Pintrest?
  7. I am not a ' WWII maritime' modeller, preferring WWII AFV'S instead, but my bro dived the Prince of Wales and the Repulse several years ago and I thought some of you might be interested to see the Repulse as she is now. (Unfortunately, my bro had no camera capable of operating at the 223 ft depth of the PoW, so no photos of that) Here's the link to the photos (photos and short descriptions only) https://drmike.smugmug.com/Wreck-diving/HMS-Repulse-Oct-06 Rearguards, Badder Legs it back to the Armour forum before I get found out!
  8. I came across this site featuring re-coloured black & white photos by a young Brazillian lady, Marina Amaral. She taught herself from a young age to use photoshop to apply colours, and carefuly researches the correct colours forn uniforms, medals and all details. The results do bring an astoninshing reality to the photos. She does all sorts of subjects, a few of which are WW1. my favourites are; Manfred Von Richthofen French Soldiers A sniper of the 6th Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment Herman Goering at Nuremburg And WW2 303 Polish Sqn pilots Wounded soldier on Omaha beach 440 (Canadian) Sqn Typhoon pilot French boys & knocked out German Tank, Falaise pocket. Full set of historic photos she has worked on here There are some astonshingly old one from the American Civil war. Cheers John
  9. My collection of ship photo's and images is getting a little out of hand at the moment; I have hundreds, probably thousands, of photo's spread across different hard-disks and folders, plus I suspect I have duplicated them more than once! I tried a photo album programme once but it searched the whole system and sucked in virtually every .jpeg and dumped them into one big album - this is what I do not want. Can anyone recommend any digital photo albums available that would allow me to: save my images to a specified repository have the facility to record the name, date, subject etc. let me allocate a reference/index number have the facility to cross-link details to a database for reference cheers Mike
  10. There are some great photos of this exercice over on the USAF website: http://1.usa.gov/1XYNPnu
  11. Good evening all, Could I enquire as to whether anyone would have any photos of the Vulcan rear crew seats with all of the cushions/padding added and any belts and straps that were present on such seats? I've seen numerous photos of the rear crew seats (been lucky enough to have the experience of sitting in one at the Midland Air Museum) and in almost all of those photos, no buckles and straps are present (presumably because they are museum aircraft). What kind of straps were present in operational aircraft? A bit of context-Having abandoned my early attempt failure at creating a 1:35 plasticard vulcan cockpit and getting all of the proportions and structure completely wrong, I embark (with more skill, dare I say) but on a different scale and a different material-card. I'm attempting to make a 1:48 card vulcan, I would post the build process on this website but the photo uploading process is so much easier on the blog compared to here (i'm sorry to say). If anyone fancies having a peek-http://cardvulcan.blogspot.co.uk/ Regards, Sam
  12. Anyone got interior photos of the late version M5A1. Thinking of adding some detail to mine (AFV club) - the Verlinden set probably wouldnt fit too well so would have to be scratch any after market goodies I could look at to enhance the kit (thinking stowage but will consider anything).
  13. Hi Everyone, I will be posting my favourite photographs from Bournemouth Air Festival today in this thread. With the number I have taken (almost 700) I haven't sorted many of them out yet. The weather was quite cloudy and murky, so I have not adjusted contrast or brightness to make the sky brighter in the photos. I am posting just a single photo as a teaser of the photos to follow tomorrow. Lynx helicopter attempting to fastrope Royal Marines onto a suspected pirate vessel......RFA Argus in the background. Comments welcome. Look out for the rest of the photos tomorrow (along with details of the camera/lens I used). Rick
  14. Can anyone point me in the direction of photos of a particular Meteor at a particular time...? I need markings references for Meteor WH291 at the time it was painted in overall LAG with dayglo strips on the airframe AND 79 squadron flashes on either side of the fuselage roundel. I especially need to see how the dayglo was appled above and below the wings and horizontal stabilizers. If you can help me out, please contact me either on this forum or at [email protected]
  15. Just a select few from my photos, I didn't take that many this year... to busy chatting and generally looking around. Some superb models on display, the Bugatti in the comp blew me away, as it did many, but it did that much I never got a photo! How silly............. Good to meet Spence for the first time, and meet up with the likes of Andy (General), Tigger, Iain & 32ndSIG lot, RichC, Tom, Flory Models, Ken and sorry if I have forgotten anyone else. I might get some more up in the week, I have a busy week ahead of me as per usual, so I hope you like this lot for the time being! In no particular order.. 16. Hi, please, does anybody have pictures of AH-1G and Q Cobras? It is realted to announced release of early Cobras by AZ model. Many thanks
  17. I wanted to document my build with some photos. I went out and bought a nice blue piece of card. However try as I might I am not getting a good qua;ity. There is a shadow, or the flash causes a problem, Having a lamp on or off makes little difference. I have a fairly decent camera a Minolta G500 which is 5mpx. Any quick suggestions woud be of help. I don't particiularly want to become a photographic expert, to take pics to share with you chaps. I read somewhere that I should have a top down stand. Investinmg in camera kit is not something I really want to do.
  18. Some wonderful photos from last weekend show in Zhukovsky near Moscow (not mine) http://d-a-ck9.livej....com/57332.html
