Hi all, I'm currently building a Fujimi 1/72 F-4D which will be completed as 65-0721 of the 48th TFW. Although I have collected a number of photos of this machine, along with many others from the Liberty Wing, I haven't yet managed to come across any photos of their Phantoms carrying weapons, except for a shot of '721 with a centreline SUU-23. There's another couple with '721 fitted with an AN/ALQ119 pod in the front port Sparrow recess. Other than that, photos show drop tanks, luggage pods or nothing at all. As I'd like to make the model a little more interesting, I'm currently deciding whether to go with the SUU-23, the AN/ALQ119 or toying with the possibility of fitting both, though I'd ideally like to finish her with an authentic loadout. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had come across any photos of the 48th's F-4s carrying anything interesting. By the way, anyone know of a source of those luggage pods? Cheers, Mark.

I had meant to join in a bit earlier but things haven't quite gone to plan. I couldn't decide which Phantom to build so I'm going to have a go at a double build - this might be a bit ambitious as I'm joining half way through, but I'll have a crack at it. As both kits will have a lot in common it might be pretty efficient - I should be able to get parts from both kits painted at the same time for example. So hopefully I'm not overstretching my modelling time here! First up, Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4E: This is going to be in Iranian colours, probably the recent blue/grey scheme they've also been using on their Tomcats, using decals from Hi-Decal. Then the Hasegawa 1/48 F-4G (not sure why, but this has always been my favourite Phantom variant - it might just be from seeing one at my first IAT in 1985): This will be in Euro 1 colours using a Milspec decal sheet. Hopefully I'll get time to get started tomorrow. cheers Julian

Hello all, Is there a Humbrol match for the blue gray wheel well colour on Buccaneers? Does this colour apply to Hunters and Phantoms as well?

Hi all I've not built as many as usual this year for one reason or another, but here are the results. First is the Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4E JASDF anniversary special. I started this way back when the Phantom GB was in progress and it was just sat around collecting dust. I'm happy with it, even though the decals aren't accurate and the drop tanks dont have any on them as i couldn't get them to conform at all! Next was a Games Workshop Imperial Guard Valkyrie. This was painted using a USMC scheme as i just really like it. decals were from a variety of sources including a Tamiya Challenger tank and a Phantom sheet. Staying with the Warhammer 40000 theme, next up was a Fire Angels Space Marines Venerable Dreadnaught. Decals were home made from a link i found on the web. Next was the Heller 1/48 F-4F, painted in the German bright orange test aircraft special scheme. The decals are Two Bobs with intake blanks kindly donated by Julien. More to follow. Antony
