  1. I'm pretty much settled in to my new apartment in Seattle, and now have a bench and everything - even my first spray booth: So it's time for a triple, all associated with the 303 'Kosciuszko' Sqn in some way: 1. Arma Hobby 1/72 Hurricane Mk I, L2099, RF-O flown by Witold Lokuciewski during two of his Battle of Britain victories 2. Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Vc, AB509, JMC flown by Wing Commander Johnny Checketts of 142 Wing (303 Sqn and 402 Sqn) on D-Day 3. Arma Hobby 1/72 Mustang III, HB866, JZ flown by Jan Zumbach, a former 303 Sqn member, when he became commander of 133 Wing Some handy references: Some preliminary work on the Spitfire; filled the inside of the cannon blisters with superglue as they'll need to be sanded off and replaced with narrow ones from an AZ Joy Pack Mk IX. And interior paint started on the Mustang: And away we go!
  2. PAF Blue Diamonds F-86F & F-5A 1:48 Blue Diamond Decals The Philippines Air Force (PAF) started their aerobatic display team in 1953 flying P-51s. When these aircraft were retired in 1955 the team was stood down, only to be resurrected in 1959 flying the F-86F. These aircraft were fitted with smoke generators. In 1968 the team reformed on the new F-5A. Until now there have been very few stand alone decals for the team let alone in 1:48. These decals have been produced by the aptly named Blue Diamond Decals from Philippine Military Scale Models. The decals are printed on continuous film with the white backgrounds separate. It is recommended that the modeller seal the decals before cutting them out. The printing looks crisp and clear with no registration issues for the colours. Conclusion While it maybe a niche area of the modelling market it is welcome to see quality decals being produced of the worlds smaller air arms, and of aerobatic subjects. Recommended. 3. Hi everyone, So I thought I would drop this in here too, this is my completed build of the Tiger Hobbies F-5A kit in 1/48 Scale that I put together for the F-5 STGB. This was my first ever Group Build I have taken part in and want to thank everyone involved for their help, encouragement and information. I built her in the Philippines Blue Diamonds Acro Team Livery it comes with in the box. I know this kit has its inaccuracies but most do and I have to say it was really fun to build and regardless of the problems it still builds into a nice looking model when its complete and for the price I am more than happy with it. It's completely OOB, nothing added, painted in Tamiya and Revell Aqua acrylics and finished with Winsor & Newton Varnishes. There was a minor disaster towards the end of my build with me destroying parts of decals that were already applied and some filler/paint went missing at this stage too. I will probably add a light panel wash in the future at some point. Build thread is here if anyone is interested in that kind of stuff.
