This is the Wolfpack 1/48 P47D (old Hasegawa kit?) kitted out in the Brazilian airforce colours as flown by Ten. Alberto Martins Torres, Red Squadron, 1st GAVCA (Fighter Aviation Group) Italy, 1944. The kit is built completely OOB using Tamiya paints with Windsor & Newton Matt acrylic varnish. I must admit that I'd never heard of Wolfpack models before so it was a really nice surprise to find the kit easy to assemble and one of the few that didn't cause me any problems at all.

A second RFI from Tweener in under a month? Today I've got the 1/72 Academy P-47 Bubbletop in the markings of "OH JOHNNIE", as flown by Lt. Raymond Knight in some of the last days of the war, before the final action that cost Knight his life. During a strike on a German airfield in the Po Valley. Knight's aircraft took heavy damage during several strafing runs that brought about the destruction of a large number of enemy aircraft and supplies. Knight was known to fly the first run over enemy airfields alone in order to put together the most accurate plan of attack, and to ensure his fellow pilots had the highest chance of avoiding dangers while making effective runs of their own. On his last flight, Knight repeated this process and managed to escape safely. His aircraft, struck multiple times, seemed unlikely to make it back to base on the far side of the Apennine mountains. Despite this, Knight was aware that his unit was keenly short of replacement parts and aircraft, and so declined to bail out over friendly territory. Knight was killed when his aircraft slammed into a mountain on the return flight - only 2 weeks before the end of the War in Europe. More here - https://www.thisdayinaviation.com/tag/oh-johnnie/ I decided to build this P-47 after obtaining the DK Decals 350FG decal sheet, which contains markings for assorted P-39s and 47s flown by that group and their compatriot Brazilians, as well as decals for a Hurricane squadron hack, captured BF-109G, and a Brazilian Cub. I'm currently working on one of the 39s, as well as the 109, and I have the Cub in the stash too. For now, here is the P-47 Note that the Neutral grey is undoubtedly too dark - I don't understand how Vallejo got this so wrong in their model color range, and fairly spot on in their Air range, but in any case, I painted this before I had the latter paint or the knowledge to do better, and I don't think it looks too bad. Wings were sprayed with TS-17, and the OD is Model Masters. I believe it's Vietnam Era land vehicle OD, but I like the look of it and miss MM dearly. The build itself was entirely pain free, though I expect my next Jug will be the Tamiya kit. I've got about 10 options for markings and 100 other projects first, so don't hold your breath for that one. A Hurricane, Skycar, and JU-52 next. Another old kit, this time a Hasegawa P47D Thunderbolt. Circa 1972 I think. Part of the stash I bought from the family of an avid modeller who passed away. The stash is in another post. The decals are useless as they are stuck fast to the backing and crumbles when soaked and I tried to tease them apart. So for this one I tried printing my own decal. More of it later on.

Hey all, So after busy days at work, trying to figure out business relocation, making redundancies and other crap (people said Brexit is good, I have to live with it and explain to stuff why job loss is a good thing for them, they can take back the control) Tamiya p47 came to me! I also bought Eduard etched parts, mainly for the seat belts, however got a good deal on ebay, so will use other parts as well. First look - what an amazing kit it is. Wow. What a detailed cockpit! So started yesterday evening, I have done few bits this morning. Just to note, I am nowhere even close to professional and nowhere even close to the builds I see on this forum, however find this model building a super relaxing hobby! I wont't post pictures of the kit itself, there are quite a lot of them and a lot of professional and objective reviews of how outstanding this kit is Started with a cockpit, was not sure about colour, lots of pictures of p47s suggest quite different "greens" so I though I would test my Vallejjo interior green for that. Brush painted, few coats and the result (it drys very quickly so once you finish all parts, the first one you started is almost ready for the next coat): Some Revell acrylic black and white + humbrol brown mixed humbrol red for the "pillow" (parts are not glued yet, but fit is amazing and holds stable even without glue ): Add some more detailing (revell silver, revell yellow, few Eduard Etched parts), dried brushed with lighter colour of vallejo interior green, dried brushed with revell silver, added tamiya black panel line wash and the result is still drying: Added Eduard seat belts, and could not resist to fit test it: So far that is it. I am not sure how accurate it is in terms of colouring etc, but looks SIMILAR of what you can find on google So happy with that I am fully impressed with the detailing Tamiya made, with the fit so far (even though it is couple of the parts only, but I tried building Dora Wings Bellanca which was somewhat a disaster in everything, so just lays in the box for the last couple of the months without progress) and it is an extremely enjoyable kit! Suggestions and recommendations are more than welcome, I am quite a beginner with only couple of the builds on my shelf. Just do not suggest airbrush, no space, had to work with brushes :DDDD

I was wanting to try some 3D weathering and opted to try Vallejo's Chipping Medium as the method. The subject is a 1/48 scale 1967 tool P47 Razorback from Revell. Although, this build was really just something of a 'test-bed' for my weathering self-tuition. I liked the end result and thought I'd share it with the forum.

Hi guys going to build a 1/48 tamiya bubbletop. Meant to be a nice kit was tempted with Eduard photoset have but don't fancy splashing out plus all the kit detail looks top notch. Have bought some amdg decals which are in the post. Going to build this one, (I just posted the link for the image so hope I'm upsetting anyone copyright wise) I like colour scheme as it's OD over NMF with the upper wing invasion stripes painted over. So should be good fun with weathering. There's also a shark mouthed razorback on the sheet so maybe another later... Look forwards to starting Joss

Hello All, I have been plodding along with the old Airfix Thunderbolt, vintage 1963. It's quite a decent kit for its day and it was fun to build, but there are plenty of better Thunderbolts out there now! Here it is: WIP is here. Thanks for looking, Adrian
