  1. A glimpse into the Eduard 2017-2018 programme. Sources: http://pwm.org.pl/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=78501&sid=2fed11272508b70cc053fe34bdf286c4&start=645 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1550130735002393&set=gm.1127641523995448&type=3&theater V.P.
  2. Hello again. After a while I've managed to complete this magnificent aircraft. The kit itself is a charm. Easy to build, nice fit and no problems whatsoever. Painting it was a bit of fun but nothing hard. Unfortunately I can't make a build without some problems. This time problems with silvering of decals. Weird, because on glossy surface it was absolutely fine, but after putting matt coat half of the decals were silvering:( I've read some forums, tip and advices and followed the one with needle and pucturing the silvered decals and another coat of Sol and Set. Helped a lot, but still I'm not happy to be honest. Some decals basically unfixable.. Build is OOB + Eduard masks. Anyway, pictures: I hope you like it. Thanks and see you soon!
  3. Hello Everyone, I present to you, my P-47 of the 201 Escuadron Mexican Air Force. This was built for the P-47 GB earlier in the year, unfortunately due to me moving and being lazy, I didn't get her finished on time. I enjoyed the GB alot and loved all of the other models that where built there. I decided on this one as I saw a picture of it, when I was playing WarThunder and really liked the design. The model is the classic Revell 1/72 P-47 and the decals are from an AeroMaster sheet, which I wasn't too impressed with. Enjoy! Oh the build thread can be found **here**. I noticed that one of the gun barrels was bent, actually you can see it above closet to the wheel. I think this was done when my gf was cleaning the shelf it sits on. Oh well... Thanks for looking! Kind Regards, Dazz
  4. Hello Everyone, I said in modelling minions thread that I was going to join in with a Mexican P-47 once I had sorted all the bits out. I did have a Revell 1/72 P-47 N that I was going to use, but upon research and after discussion it has been suggested that the N model wouldn't be a good place to start to backdate to a D model. Well that was me buggered. So I purchased two new kits of the Revell P-47D-30 which as far as I can tell... is exactly the same mould... I give up. So now I have 3 kits. I have loved the Mexican scheme of the 201 Escuadron, Fuerza Aerea Expedicionaria Mexicana, attached to the 58th FG, in the Philippines in 1945 since I saw the aircraft on a loading screen for War Thunder believe it or not. I just thought it was interesting to see the Mexican triangle (I don't know it's correct name) and the Stars and Bars of the USAAF on the same aircraft (clicky link for a HD wallpaper of said picture). Thankfully I searched for the picture again before I started and checked my decal sheet as I was under the impression the bars where yellow, but apparently they where black and white. I have seen colour pictures of the actual aircraft to back it up also... so god knows where I got yellow from? I also thought these aircraft where based in Italy, but they where actually based in the Philippines... really think I am getting confused with the Brazilian ones. Anyhow on Got the kits from KingKit... wished I had paid £3.99 for it, but I aint gonna moan. I LOVE KingKit, sure my gf doesn't tho I do really like the "Balls Out" scheme. I might do it at a later date. These pictures where taken at night with the flash off, I'm sure everyone knows what the sprues look like on this model by now... Really like that belly tank for reasons unknown... The decals are really good and quite exhaustive... for once in my life I want to build a French machine... maybe at a later date (sorry Mish, I know you like Frenchie machines). The decal sheet I will be using, not sure if AeroMaster are around anymore?? The one I will be building is the third one from the top. Decals all appear to be in register and look nicely printed. Yay! So after getting tips from TeeELL about the Instrument Panel (not the IP ). I managed to paint it up to this level. There is some really nice detail on those dials, I will have to dollop the gloss varnish on it laters. Simple things keep me happy and I am really happy with this side. Probably the wrong colours, but I am happy with it. Same again for this side, not that much will be seen mind. Wonderful cockpit, not really much to show here tbh. Instrument Panel fitted, this is a horrible picture... if anyone wants to see a better version just say so. I will re-take the photo and upload. You get the idea tho. I have also painted the wheel wells (no picture) and I have fitted the cockpit to the left fuselage but without any pictures. As I have said in my Hurricane GB. I have just been accepted for a flat with SWMBO (our first place living together). Now I am allowed to build models (like she has a choice! ) it will take us a few days/weeks to get things sorted. My mother has decided to let me have the man-cave completely to myself now (we was sharing before hand). So I can have display cabinets and such We have still got to sort stuff out and move around. So this might be all I get accomplished for a wee while. I do really want to build another P-47 with a massive pin-up model on it for my girlfriend, she loves pinup art (I don't mind it either ). If anyone that knows of a really nice pinup and you can get decals in 1/72 I am open to suggestions. I am thinking of looking at Kits-World as they are literally down the road from me. Hope to keep people entertained on this journey of mangled and melted plastic, this ride will get bumpy. Hints and pointers as always gratefully received. Kind Regards, Dazz
  5. As I mentioned in my twin Academy build thread, this is another P-47, the Revell one. The box says one thing (if you ignore the Texta overwriting) and the instructions and kit bits say quite another! Yep, the good old 'rebox it for the mug' trick. The kit in the box has 2 options, one USAAF the other French, and I'm thinking I'll do the French one. I'm pretty sure that someone else has the same kit in the running, so I'll be able to follow along and learn as I go. Comparing it to the Academy kit, it's both good and bad. Shapewise, the Revell is horrendously fat. Must be all the MacDonald's it's eaten. Details though, are excellent - the main gear wells go all the way to the top of the wing, there's a retraction strut on the tail wheel doors and the engine cooling gills are commendably thin and moulded open. Plus other stuff as well, but these are the standouts for me. It'll be interesting building both kits alongside each other. The eagle-eyed will notice that the kit's been started - that was me, this evening, banging on without thinking. I got the wings and engine together, then thought " 'ang on, Oi've missed summat, 'aven't I?" Yeah, you have, haven't you. A bit of thought, and it hit me - PHOTOS! Ah well, I'm finding that I get stupider with every passing day. This will (hopefully) be rolling along with the Academy 'Beetle' builds, to take advantage of open paint bottles and all that, so updates will be forthcoming! More anon.
  6. Now that I've got your attention I'll explain what I intend to be building for this GB. I am going to attempt my first double build having seen it done on a few other GB's as it seems to make a lot of sense, they are both the same aircraft (more or less) with the same interior colours and the same overall colour scheme (probably). I lay most of the blame for this at David's (MirageIV's) feet for his continued prolific high quality builds of pairs (or more) of aircraft in the time it takes me to build one, so hopefully I can burn through the stash more quickly. Anyway onto the kits.... Any of you who have seen any of my builds in the past will know that I have an aversion to building aircraft in the usual colour schemes, so nothing American here! My P-47N will be built as an aircraft that was supplied to the Nationalist Chinese on Taiwan after they had fled there following losing the Chinese Civil War. here is a closer picture of the kit and extras.... I found a resin cockpit by HiTech in the box (amazing the things you forget you've got) which I may or may not use and the decals are by a Taiwanese company called Bestfong whose decals I have never used before so I will be interested to see how they perform. The aircraft I have chosen to build is shown below, but to be fair they all looked alike other than for unit markings. The second aircraft will be from the Hasegawa boxing which comes with all the bits to do any version of the bubbletop D variant and builds up very nicely (I did one a couple of years ago). This will be a Latin American one but I am not sure which country yet, I am torn between either Mexico or Cuba. Here is a picture of the bundle.... The picture below shows the Mexican aircraft I might build (probably the favourite at the moment) which is from a sheet by Aztec whose decals I have used before and whose research is very good. My other option is for a Cuban aircraft and I even have a choice to make as to which scheme I use as I can build one in either natural metal or one in a locally applied olive green colour. These decals are by Aeromaster whose decals we all know so they will work fine, their research however can be a little sketchy but they have this one done well. Here is a picture of their sheet. Anyway that's the plan. All comments and criticisms will be gratefully received, and any preference as to which scheme to use for my D will be helpful. Thanks for looking in. Craig.

  8. I can't wait to get started on this kit, the Tamiya 1/72 P-47 is a gem by all accounts. I started painting up the cockpit, and since this GB has piqued my interest in interior colors, I first painted it with MM Aluminum metalizer, and then added a coat of Zinc Chromate yellow, and followed with Bronze green and Dark Dull green. The bronze green was made by adding a drop of Prussian blue to the ZC yellow, and the Dark Dull green was made by adding a few drops of black to the ZC yellow. Sorry for the lack of proper focus on the pic, but it does help to hide the fact that my brush and detail painting lag behind many here (Stix, I'm looking at you!). The floor is Bronze green, and the side panels are Dark Dull green. I gave the same treatment to the wing spar, wheel wells and landing gear covers, but stopped at yellow ZC. That's it for now, just a little dark wash to go, and then construction can begin. Thanks for hosting Rich and Arnold, and, as always, thanks Mish (and Enzo) for your GB work.
  9. Here is a P-47 completed for the current group build, representing Boleslaw Gladych's Pengie III. I was intending to use Alclad or AK's Xtreme metal for this build, but my lungs were not happy with the lacquer primers involved - despite wearing a good respirator. So, I ended up brush painting Model Master buffing metalizers instead, using the method found here. The build thread is here.
  10. Hi All, I'm in with a Tamiya 1/48 scale build of the Republic P-47D-27-RE Thunderbolt 42-27234. Outside the box Inside the box Cheers, Daniel.

  12. Here is my old Monogram P-47 finished in the markings of Captain Ken Dalberg France 1945. I rescribed the main panel lines and rattle canned the silver finish, the rest is brush painted. Other than a set of resin main wheels and some PE for the bomb pylons its out of the box. Detail wise its no where near the Tamiya or Academy kits but still builds up in to a nice representation of a Thunderbolt. Hope you like.
  13. Hello again, As I have a couple of weeks off work coming up I thought I'd start another 'quick build' to run alonside my Sabre build. I've decided to go for another cheapie from my stash. I say cheapie because i managed to pick it up for half price at a local clearance outlet, along with several other kits! It's the Aacdemy P-47D Thunderbolt 'Gabreski' Here are the obigatory sprue shots... This last sprue is duplicated, so only one of them shown here, A decent decal sheet courtesy of Cartograf... And finally, because I find it impossible to build something without using AM (I feel like I'm not putting enough effort in if I don't use any!) a little something from Eduard to improve the office. i know the etch is for a P-47N, but it's close enough for me for a quick and dirty build! Work in progress pics to follow as soon as I make some progress. Thanks for looking Al

  15. This is the Hasegawa 1/32 P-47 kit built as "Hairless Joe" the mount of Col David Shilling of the 56th FG 8th AF. Hope you like it. Gary
  16. Air National Guard P-47s 1:48 Iliad Designs In the US post war with the increasing development of jet technology, what were frontline aircraft quickly filtered down to Air National Guard units. This sheet from Iliad allows the modeller a choice of three Air national Guard units which were issued with the P-47D & N Thunderbolts. Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Maryland are the three states to feature on this new sheet. The decals are glossy and sharp, the colours are good and dense. Carrier film in minimal. The code numbers and national insignia have cleverly been sectioned to fit over intercooler outlets. Conclusion These decals will make a different P-47. Highly Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  17. Hello, this is my latest work built in group build on Greenmats Club. Hope you enjoy it.
  18. Well, being a newbie, what better than to join a groupbuild? And one with French subjects too. My stash had quite a few Heller classics, but unfortunately those are already built. So after some stash searching I came up with this one. A nice and simple build: the Revell Thunderbolt OOB. This kit was given to me by my son, who found it in a charity shop. The box is a bit tattered, but the sprues are all there. And it has French markings included. So, out of the stash, and into the group build. The usual picture: box and sprues. Nice details, finely engraved panel lines. And knowing the more recent offerings from Revell, building it should be trouble free. So... Allons-y!
  19. As in between job, two models I made just to relax. Some easy builds. The airfix hawk and the revell thunderbolt in Turkish service. Both were easy builds. Decals were from Tigerhead decals. I just wanted to do something different, and these decals were just right. Both models are clean builds, so no weathering. I was just afraid to ruin the look... Tigerhead decals were used on both planes. I was impressed with the quality: the decals went on perfectly. And the great thing is that the decals include complete markings for several planes... so I have to build some more hawks and thunderbolts! the schemes included in the sheet are great! Pictures: Hawk the p-47:
  20. Howdy Britmodellers. I took a breather after an Airfix Stuka and also took some time out for holidays with the family. Having got my mind body and soul back in order I decided it was time to get into a new "easy" build with a friendly canopy! So without too much fanfare I'll launch into what will be a simple and hopefully quick OOB Jug to add to the cabinet of glory and get me up and running in 2015. Box art.. Massively cool and brand new 100Watt lamp that combined with my new glasses means I can actually see what I'm doing again! Anyone who noticed the daughters pink paint and LPS kitten at 10 o'clock from the kit give yourself an extra point Suddenly when the airbrush comes into play with the LPS "Customs" my modelling addiction becomes really "cool" to my entrepreneurial daughter Here's the sprues and decals A few painted bits Bit of a wheel Forgot to take decent photos on the cockpit assembly before buttoning up so here's the fast forward shots! and this is sort of where it's at for now Thanks for looking Cheers Bruce
  21. AZ Model is to release a 1/72nd Republic P-47 Thunderbolt family (P-47B/C & D-early). Source: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234931186-azmodellegatoadmiral-wwii-aircraft-comments-questions-and-wishes/?p=1861759 V.P.
  22. Here is another shelf of doom kit. This has been sitting around for about 4 years, maybe longer. It is interesting to try to figure out why a particular kit got put on the shelf of doom. For this one, it was easy. First the box art. And here is the model as I found it all dusty and tattered looking. You know a model has been sitting around too long when there are spider webs on the sprues!! Here is this poor kit’s story. I received this kit and an airbrush/compressor for either a birthday or Christmas a few years back. (I wanted the Vintage 1/24 P-47, but SWMBO didn’t really know the difference between this kit and the Vintage kit and got this one instead). So, I built it up with the intention of having this as my first airbrushed kit. I completed the airframe and started taping up the kit to spray the bottom. As I was doing that, I began to look at the scheme I picked out to do. It is the one on the box art. I very quickly realized there was no way I could do this scheme as my first air brush experience. So, up it goes to the shelf of doom until I get better with the airbrush. (We won’t go into the sad tale of really how long it took me to start using an air brush as it is pathetic.) Now here is the bonus to this kit and the shelf of doom. The airframe was on the shelf of doom. Then, I had to find the box containing the rest of the parts and decals. After some searching, I found the box. When I opened it up surprise, these were in the box. This is a resin kit that was not on my lists of kits owned (Yeah, I do have a list!) The decal sheet is for a 1/48 Hobbycraft P-59 that I now need to find its box. Why I put these in the P-47 box, I do not know. Morale of the story, check your shelf of doom boxes for other items you may have put aside and out of sight! The tape has been on this kit for years. I thought the first step would be to take the tape off and see how bad the paint underneath it has suffered from years of adhesive. I also did not trust any of the tape to be secure enough to actually protect the airframe from overspray. After a bath to get the dust and adhesive off here is the current status of the kit. There are some areas that really need a do over, like the tail wheel area and the representation of the leather boot The cockpit looks like it held up pretty well The cockpit does need some seat belts, so those will need to be sourced. I also got out all of the other parts besides the main airframe that have been built up. You can tell I built this as a brush painter and not an air brush painter. Since I started air brushing, the wheel covers are always sprayed at the same time as the underside. On this kit, they are already attached to the main landing gear. It also looks like I pre-painted the canopy, I am going with the flaps down option and I have already selected the propeller option. In addition, the entire ordinance and fuel tanks have been built, but need painting. Next step is to check the seams and make sure they are still okay and then re-tape the airframe to spray the bottom colour. As always, all comments are welcome.
  23. This is #5 completed model off my shelves of doom. In October I decided I would try to eliminate my shelf of doom kits and complete every single one of them regardless of the reason why they were put on doom status. The kit is the very wonderful 1/32 Hasegawa P-47. It goes together wonderfully well, has great detail and is a joy to build. So why was it relegated to the shelf of doom? A bit of history is in order. First though, here is the box art. Several years ago SWMBO was kind enough to purchase an air compressor and an Iwata Eclipse air brush for me. In addition, she bought me this kit. (I had asked for a 1/24 Vintage P-47, but she got this one as “Aren’t they both the same plane?” Got to love her.) I put this kit together, got it ready for painting. The red nose and tail was painted as was the black areas for the invasion stripes. I taped up the plane to begin to spray the bottom colour and realized I really didn’t have the skills to do the camo scheme on the box art. So, the kit was set aside so I could practice air brush skills on some other kits and not really muck this one up. Instead, I mucked up some other kits with just one colour schemes, put the air brush aside and went back to hairy stick painting for the next couple of years. This year, I began, in earnest, to try to force myself to use the air brush. This kit was prominent on the shelf of doom due to its size and all of the tape still on it after these few years. I still don’t have the skills to do this camo scheme justice, but you gots to start somewhere, you know. Off came the old tape, on went some new tape and the battle with this kit to complete it can be viewed here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234972146-shelf-of-doom-5-hasegawa-132-p-47;-decals-started/. For now, here is the outcome. And here it is in its new resting place with friends I am quite pleased with the outcome of this foray into my learning curve with the air brush. It went fairly well. I have another one of these in the stash and will not hesitate to build it. This is a great kit. As always, all comments are welcome.
