Hello everybody... This will be my second entry into the build. It is the Academy P-40E which I will build in RNZAF markings. Funnily it comes with RAAF markings for Dickie Cresswell’s kite. However I will be attempting to do HQ*Q in the New Zealand Pacific scheme. I borrowed this photo from Alan @LDSModeller. Hopefully he wont mind and Hopefully I will get this scheme right. “RNZAF Official - RNZAF Museum” If for some reason it is going wrong or I’m missing something please anybody speak up. Otherwise we’ll see you soon. Please feel

Hello Friends, My next build will be Academy's 1/72 P-40E in the colors of "Squirt", a 72 Fighter Squadron assigned to defend Hawaii in early 1942. I came to select this aircraft in a relatively circular fashion which is important to the research that led me to this point. Initially, I wanted to use the kit decals and build an Aleutian Tiger, but quickly realized that I could not find exhaust shields and accurate placements for further cold weather modifications like anti-freeze caps etc. Tom Cleaver's excellent 1/32 build of an Aleutian Tiger based off of Hasegawa's 1/3

Hi all, this is just a place marker for the time being. I am still floundering in the Frog GB and time is running out. I should not even be wasting precious minutes typing all this! Anyway, I will attempt to build the Academy 1/72 P-40E, which is a lovely kit. A few photos: And I am adding a couple of aftermarket goodies, as I cannot stand the shape of the Academy spinner, and the wheel wells are far too shallow for my liking! I am planning to start this build after October 6th, upon c

Prelude - In Australia, we celebrate Fathers day on the first Sunday of September. This happy day occurred last weekend and as part of my early morning gifts my two lovely children were good enough to get me a copy of Michael Vietch's "44 Days" and yet another sheet from my favourite decal manufacturer - DK decals. This sheet (72049) covers 29 examples of early P-40E Kittyhawks in RAAF service, many of which participated in the early battles against the Japanese during WW2. Hopefully this will be the first of at least two Pacific War GB entries. I will base this build

Hello, I am in a process of correcting an inaccurate kit, and would like to make new crescent-shape panel that frames the rear glass. Could anyone please help me with some original factory drawings of this panel, marked on the picture below (or P-40D/E/K rear glass itself) in developed view, so I can copy its complex geometry? Thanks in advance! Aleksandar

P-40E Kittyhawk - 2 Operational Training Unit RAAF 1/72 & 1/48 Red Roo Models This sheet provides decals for a P-40E A29-28 as used by 2 OTU RAAF. The aircraft was stripped back to Natural Metal but retained the white areas form the operational scheme and part of the serial on the tail. Fabric areas were painted with aluminium dope. Conclusion This is a good sheet for an unusual P-40E, Recommended. 1/48 1/72 Review sample courtesy of

One of my first kits I recall completing to an adult competency was a bagged kit of a 1/72 Monogram P-40. I don't recall too much of it, besides the glossy tan and chocolate "dessert" camouflage it wore, and the ravenous maw slathering for more victims. I built it with my friend in his basement while he worked on some 1/24 pick up truck nonsense. He was so enamored with my awesome results he begged me to crank out the lindberg sea king kit next. To which I obliged. Of course, all this excitement and new found modelling mojo was quashed by the demeaning scolding I received upon showing my old m

Hi here comes my first article, here on Britmodeller. The chosen subject is my Hasegawa P-40E.It is one of my favorite aircraft and like so much other WW II fighter types a must. The Hasegawa P-40 don t fall together, if you follow the instructions you run into very serious fit problems at the rear fuselage and aft of the canopy.I created completed fuselage halfs and close after this the fuselage, the gaps on the spine are better and easier to fill. There are also fit problems with the wing guns. After this it is a trouble free build and the completed kit look razor sharp like the real thing. Fo

Hi folks, Hopefully just a quick "yes" or "no" would be ok on this - I've done some searching and can't determine if it's possible so I'm going to ask the knowledgeable folks here. I'm building the Academy P40-E kit to be done as a Kittyhawk Mk Ia as flown by 14 Sqn RCAF Western Air Command - "Z" with the sharkmouth as found in Aircam Aviation's old book "Sharkmouth 1916-1945". The decals in this kit have no sharkmouth. I've also got the Academy P-40M/N kit which will, eventually, be done as a Kittyhawk IV - also RCAF but not in a scheme which includes the sharkmouth. In the P-40M/N kit th
