  1. Hi Gents, P-39 !! What a sleek and fine design from Bell corp engineers ! So many innovations for that time, engine position, tricycle landing gear, heavy armement .. canopy etc.; Was a very good combat plane indeed, ( just to see what the russians pilots did with it on eastern front .) but like its contemporary friend the P-40 , he lacks efficient compressor to get good performances at high altitude. I liked this aircraft for long , and once again Arma Hobby provides us with another little gem in 1/72nd (please don't stop !! ) very nice replica, probably the ultimate one for this scale.. Large choice of options for L through Q series, Three types of blades, two types of nose armement cover, different wings armement options, nose wheels .. In fact you find everything in the box to build a very nice model without trouble. Last point to add, anyone can say that these guys from AH have balls... Three in fact , no kidding 🤣 ..and they put them in the box to help this elegant plane to hold on its three legs .. that's a very nice and good point ! Just a regret for me, the lack of a four blades propeller, to build last Q series one ( that were put in use by French AF 😉.) To go to my build now, I've decided to build an " air-A-Cutie " since I was a kid .. long time ago now .. so I took a chance to have this nice model to build it .. Some surgery on the nose guns cover, no landing gears covers as seen on pictures, just add the Eduard drop tank accessory very fine 3D printing stuff that fits perfectly well with the model. Air-A-Cutie had a long operational life ( considering the period ...) some evolutions were made in markings and nose art during its front line " career".. Mine represent it at le last time of its use. means, white reco markings on wings leading edges and tail , with bars added to the US markings roundels. and change in left side Pin-Up arm. I really had pleasure to build this one, may be another one , one day ( what about the four blades props guys ??? 😄) Now on to the pics hope you'll like this one , Take care all of you and , happy modeling !! cheers ! François
  2. I just can't figure out your way of uploading photos so here's a link to my latest project, Eduard's 1/48 P-39L/N Airacobra Dual Combo. https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/642044490619537551/
  3. Good day, Below is an extract from a short RAF movie on the introduction of the Airacobra in RAF service. If the gunsight installation looks standard, the sighthead holding the reflector glass is totally different from any of the two sighthead used on the P-39 series. So did the RAF design and manufacture its own sighthead for the Airacobra? Any information and/or better photos would be very much appreciated. Enjoy your day, Laurent
  4. Gee this GB came around far too quickly for me. If I had sense I’d sit this one out and watch from the sidelines as I have too many builds on the go already....but where’s the fun in that. For this GB I plan to build Special Hobby’s 1/32nd P-39F/Mk.1 monster in RAAF colours. The kit looks to be nicely done (though I have seen the are wing join issues)....... with a couple of resin extras.....gotta have extra resin! ...with a couple of resin extras.....gotta have extra resin! I won’t be using most of the supplied decals, instead I’ll be using masks made for the model for all the main markings. The scheme will be the one supplied, FA-F A53-6, which unfortunately crash landed near Liverpool, NSW in 1943 and was scrapped re-crated and returned to the US 5th Air Force shortly thereafter. She is notable for her colour scheme and lack of information about it. There are very few photo’s of her and none in colour. She had Sky Blue under surfaces with a camouflage of Olive Drab and an unidentified Grey. The grey is thought to be either Dark Grey or Extra Dark Sea Grey or some other similar grey??? I’ll worry about that when I get to it. This will definitely be an OOB build for me as I just have some many other projects on the go at the moment, but it’s a build I’m really looking forward to.
  5. Greatly abbreviated WIP here This is the Kittyhawk 1/32 Bell Airacobra kit converted to my interpretation of an RAF Airacobra MK1 The WIP lists all the changes I made Kit was painted with Xtracolour paints using masks by Maketar for the codes and national markings Exhausts and wheels came from Mastercaster, and all gun barrels came from Master save for the 20mm cannon barrel which is aluminium tubing Whilst the kit does not fall together out of the box I had little trouble with the assembly Thanks to all those that fallowed the build Bruce IMG_0068 , IMG_0065 , IMG_0063 , , overall view ,
