Hi all Continuing my own recent theme of Operation Granby aircraft, here's my attempt at Airfix's brilliant Buccaneer: A couple of team photos to finish off: Thank you Airfix for bringing us these kits, which have been a joy to build. Now, if you could just give us a decent Tonka GR1 please....?

This is just a place keeper at present but I'm planning on starting on this in the near future. With the Centurion AVRE 99.9% complete and the Scammell Commander 80% complete and the diorama base to be built I decided that I needed a reason for the Scammell and Centurion display to have some context/story so enter stage left a Trumpeter T-62 with the idea of having it knocked out/abandoned possibly part blocking a road, I'm not planning a totally destroyed burnt out vehicle. Pictures of the box, colour/marking instructions and a very full box of sprues This is now on the bench so there should be an update in the not to distant future....................... Thanks for stopping in your time is appreciated Roger

For this GB I will be using the Roden kit of the Vickers VC-10 K3. Along with this I hope to make a Tornado and a Buccaneer so that I can do a flying diorama of these two aircarft being refueled during Op Granby in 1991. I say hopefully as I have never attempted anything like this before. I will also be using a decal sheet from F-Dcal for this aircraft. For the Tornado I will be using the Revell kit, but with a dragon kit decal sheet. I may find one from elsewheere, as this kit is quite old. For the Buccaneer whilst I will be using the 1/144th.co.uk kit. I also hope that doing all three aircraft on one build thread is allowed. Forgot to say I also have some baskets that I found whilst walking around Telford last year when this plan all started. The box art. Inside the box. Kit instructions and decals. F-Dcal decals. The Revell Tornado. The plastic. Kit instructions. The big decal sheet for a 1/144th model. The Dragon kit. The decals. The Buccaneer. Inside the box. All the parts. Instructions and decal sheet. The decal sheet. The refuelling baskets.

Completed the new Airfix Jaguar last night. I went with some after market decals to represent XZ356 'Mary Rose', only realised once I finished that the decals for the reg was XX rather than XZ. Really enjoyable kit, I will be making others for sure. She isn't perfect but she's good enough for me. 20250603_122800~2 by DaleRFU1, on Flickr 20250603_122816~2 by DaleRFU1, on Flickr 20250603_122806~2 by DaleRFU1, on Flickr

Hot on the heels of my last post of a Gulf War 1 RAF Jaguar, here's my effort at a Tornado. I gather the 'Tonka' is a bit of a cherished {and semi-sacred?} aircraft on BritModeller, so I hope I did it justice! "Emma" is shown alongside her Op Granby friends - they remind me of watching Gulf War 1 on telly as a fascinated 14 year-old. The Tornado is out of the box, apart from the nose art decals, from Print Scale. I have to say the Print Scale decals were a bit flimsy, and less than satisfactory. If anyone wants the left over ones, drop me a line.... Rob

Hello everyone and also hello 2014. Quick update: 2013 was the year I started modeling again after a 30 year hiatus. I managed five builds last year when Real Life reasserted itself. So this one was started last year, but is my first finished build for 2014, and my 6th build in total. Ooh! All those maths classes weren't wasted! Sadly, during the last 5 months Real Life meant I didn't have much time for poking my nose in here. Slacker I am! So here we have a Jaguer GR1, Johnny Fartpants, in my very vague approximation of its Op Granby scheme. Artistic license applied by me as usual. It's mostly an OOB build of the Italeri 1/72 Jaguar GR1 with the decals from Modeldecal. I actually bought this kit and decals about 15 years ago. Yes! I was actually going to start building 15 years ago and bought this in preparation, but life took over and I had to wait another 15 years before starting again. I think it was worth the wait as I wouldn't have access to all the hints and tips I do today and I don't think it would look quite the same. Hopefully I'll have the time to bang out another couple of kits this year coz, well, I kind of enjoy this thing we do. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this one. Thank you again for your attention. Hi After making a few flying machines, I wanted a little break / something different. This little Bedford 4-tonne truck was just the ticket - basic, but fun to build. Oops - Some little tike has stolen her wing mirrors though! I have seen the made out of wire/staples etc, but I''l save that for next time. And some berk put the the markings on upside down......Or maybe it was after we'd won and they changed it to V for Victory (?)

Here's my second Op Granby effort, following an RAF Buccaneer.... Out of the box, depicted as "Saddam Kicker" - hope you like! Next is a Revell 1/72 Tornado to complete my British Gulf War 1 trio... Rob

Academy Warrior APC 1/35th scale (original boxing) 'Operation Granby' Iraq 1991 Warrior pics here Inspired by several Warriors of the Staffordshire Regt viewed by myself and other Club Members during our visit to Fallenbostel, Germany in September 1991 shortly after their return from Iraq Modifications needed The original Academy kit was modified as the frontal Armour was out of alignment due to the transmission covers being too wide This was reduced by 1.5mm either side and the stowage box adjusted accordingly Both side Armour packs were moved forwards a full 3mm so the fire suppression handle (left side) could be seen through the round opening This also allowed the camouflage screen prongs to be fitted correctly either side at the rear The Turret basket had the bottom raised by 2mm by reducing the vertical stanchions supporting it This stopped the basket catching on the rear deck fittings and gave the basket the correct profile
