  1. Probably my sole entry for the GB, as surprisingly I don’t have that many Japanese kits in the stash. I do have a few Tamiya kits that I might build depending on time, my other builds etc.
  2. A Rafale An F1 And an extremely ropey Mirage IIIR Sunce they’re all small I’ll group them in the one thread. The first two should be very straightforward but the Heller kit has raised panel lines and wings professor Junkets would have been proud of…
  3. my intended victim a revel kit that might be as of as I am The bits hopefully this fills you with nostalgia rather than scaring you. This is the scheme I’m going for. Hopefully I won’t have to modify the kit too much. Next step compare my miscellaneous bits of plastic to a set of plans
  4. Despite having multiple builds on the bench, most of them are now at the painting stage - time to crack open a new one! After checking GB eligibility with @Brad, I am throwing my hat into the ring with the 1/48 Airfix TSR-2. I've heard it will need some fettling along the way, but I've had plenty of practice with that particular skill recently...😁 I bought it off eBay last month and it reeked of cigarette smoke, so the box was chucked away without delay. Here's a picture from the instruction sheet: It's a big model - look at the length of the fuselage! I'm hoping this will build into an impressive model to join my other 1/48 British jets. This one will be strictly OOB, to see what I can achieve solely with Airfix's kit. I will post some photos soon, once construction gets underway!
  5. I've just noticed this GB and have had a lonely helicopter kit in my stash for a while, so will be joining in with this one! It will probably be built OOB, due to the time constraints of a GB. I might be tempted to get some PE for it, but no guarantees... I'll take some photos tonight and get my WIP started soon.👍
  6. This was so cheap in my ( not so) local model shop that I couldn’t not buy it, looks like a nice little kit.. more to follow. I wasn’t entirely sure this qualified but Wikipedia says the following.. ’Patrol Craft Fast (PCF), also known as Swift Boats, were all-aluminum, 50-foot (15 m) long, shallow-draft vessels operated by the United States Navy, initially to patrol the coastal areas and later for work in the interior waterways’ Coastal areas makes it seagoing so here we are
  7. This one will be finished in Irish Air Corp Colours otherwise should be oob.
  8. My first build for the GB will be oob but I’m considering replacing the boom assembly with soldered brass…
  9. My second entry, probably out of the box because I love the torpedo option and also owing to the fact that only about 500 Dora’s were built there probably aren’t that many alternatives.
  10. This will be my try to the GB bought for a tenner in my local second hand kit shop this is a real classic. This is the scheme I’m going to do it in. As you may have noticed I generally don’t do swastkas, I don’t have a particular problem with them on a model ( obviously having decent sensibilities and Jewish ancestry I have many multiple problems with the ideology behind the symbol, but I digress) however my nearest and dearest don’t like them at all, now on balance I find that it drives me towards much more interesting and off beat schemes, and doesn’t stop me building German WW2 types.
  11. If I don’t build this one for the GB I probably won’t build it at all, so….
  12. Since @Enzo Matrix has opened the forum way early and as I will be your co host for the GB ( I’m actually nervous ) I thought I’d start the ball rolling with my build thread. Not sure which variant I’ll build ( NF11/12 or 13) or what colour scheme but I’m looking forward to the build. It’s a meteor and a matchbox kit couldn’t get much better
  13. Well I threatened I might and indeed I have gone and got an Airfix meteor to go with the matchbox one. Most definitely a much more refined kit, but it’ll be interesting to see how the finished results compare. I shan’t bother with a sprue shot as many others already have. I haven’t decided on the scheme yet except I’m leaning towards camouflage not nmf, might even use the kit scheme or possibly an Israeli scheme to complement the NF.
  14. The kit, bought for less than a tenner from the Kingkit Scrapyard, missing the machines guns, but I’d probably have replaced them any way. Still haven’t decided on the finished scheme, but it won’t be Richthofens machine. Built many times as as a kid, I’m finally going to try to do justice to the kit, and put a high level of detail in as it’s such a large scale.
  15. These two will be a fairly straightforward oob build. They’re somewhat close to my heart as the YF23 was pretty much the last model I built in my first modelling stint before a thirty year break. Also I was working for a subsidiary of Prat and Whitney at the time so all eyes were on who got the contracts. Rumour had it that economics not performance won the day but that’s another story Both Trumpeter and both pretty good little kits m, despite the somewhat ropey box art. Right then back to the WIP till Sunday week.
  16. This will be my first build for the GB, but I think I need to go find something quirky to scratchbuild to accompany it….
  17. At the end of WWI no. 1 were equipped with Sopwith Dolphins but also managed to obtain a number of Fokker DVIIs which they flew side by side with the Sopwiths, indeed several pilots preferred the Fokker. I'll be building the Copper state models 1/48 Dolphin and a Roden 1/48 DVII for the GB. I will of course refrain from all the obvious jokes aboot Canadia(it's a Simpson joke) ehhhhy. Right I've gotten that out of my system, modelling next
  18. This is the kit, almost a shame not to use the kit scheme, but tbh I almost always prefer to model something a little different. And here is its provenance; a photo with the Queen kindly suggested by @Enzo Matrix I don’t do that many modern subjects and even less in 1/72 so it’ll be a nice change from my usual fare. I’m looking at that decal sheet and have decided it’s a total waste not to use it. So instead I’ll be building this in the 25 years scheme. Trust me you won’t even notice the difference after a while
  19. This is what my stash and my local toy ( not hobby) shop contained. In the interest of not overly confusing myself I’ll build them as a trio. They’ll be pretty much oob except where there’s some obviously wrong that needs correcting and I still haven’t decided on colour schemes yet.
  20. The kit. Still no idea what colour scheme I’ll build it in. But at least it’s now in the mix.
  21. The second of my GB entrants. I may use the box scheme unless I can come up with something a bit more interesting. How brave am I feeling Ok spoiled for choice.
  22. My kit bought for less than a tenner from Kingkit scrapyard. It’s missing one horizontal stabiliser but I should be able to make a resin cast from the one that’s still in the kit. In this scheme; SEA and a shark mouth what’s not to like
  23. Ok definitely going to build this one and may tackle the Boeing too. More to follow.
  24. As much stash reduction as blitzbuild participation, but I thought I’d go one last time. Not a bad kit. Sprues, fairly low parts count. Separated and fettled. After literally 15 minutes of assembly. I don’t think it needs filler, so off to paint.
  25. This is the kit. But I’m going to go for a different scheme one if these three. Philippine. Chinese Guatemalan, actually remained in service till 1957! The Philippine is probably my favourite followed (probably because it’s unusual to see a peashooter in camo)by the Guatemalan, I have a few days to make up my mind.
