  1. Hobbyboss 1/48 may do the lower of the two kit schemes. Tamiya 1/48 which I think will be in this scheme Revell 1/72 which will be in this scheme I’m going to build all three together as a way of making sure I don’t let this GB get away from me
  2. My statement of intent. It will be oob and rattle and silver, the only fly in the ointment, the horrible raised panel lines which will have to go!!!!
  3. I’m much more usually to be found over in the Aircraft sections of the forums, but I do love the odd AFV build, I picked up this kit last week for only €13 and I decided to start it right away as a bit of a mental break from all the airplanes I’m currently trying to build. I’m going to build a captured example as I reckon it will be a nice complement to my T34 which is finished in 4BO. Last year’s Tamiya T34. Started on assembling the hull. It’s actually quite a nice little kit.
  4. Hi Here is my latest build - P-51B by KP. Flown by John T. Godfrey This is OOB build so you would probably notice a few things - a big one is missing pylons. All Mustangs are suppose to have 'em but KP for some reason decided to not include it in this kit but sell separately. Well, not a nice move, KP. Paint - Tamiya acrylic
  5. Here goes,.....here is my first offering, an Airfix 1/72 Severn Class lifeboat. I chose to do the Humber lifeboat as I didn’t want to show favouritism to any one of my local Cornish boats, plus I grew up in a town on the banks of the Humber. I didn’t have most of the problems usually reported of this kit. Airfix have updated their instructions to not mention the infamous missing part 30 though the pictures do show it in place so I contacted them and they did send me the required second one. I have got the anti fouling and boot stripe in the wrong place, I should have checked my reference pictures more closely.
  6. This is the Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind fighter that I finished earlier this year. The Whirlwind is fairly well known despite the small number built (114) and equipping only two squadrons and it was an aircraft that potentially could have been more successful but seemed to suffer from a number of 'misfortunes' that were out of the hands of Westlands. the kit is from 2010 and is a mix of injection moulded plastic, resin and photo etch. Mine was built out of the box and seemed to go together reasonably well, although the wings needed some thinning down at the trailing edge and some filler was used on the wing roots and tailplanes. There is good cockpit detail, but the canopy comes in one piece, not that bothered me as I usually build with closed canopies anyway. The aircraft is from 263 Sqn in the early part of 1941. Paints are Xtracrlyix except for the spinners and fuselage band which are from Vallejo. The decals are from the kit and went on with few problems. The surface detail is quite good, but I photographed the model in bright sunshine and some detail has been lost I hope you like the model.
  7. Hi all, some photos of my recently finished StuG III from Dragon. Build out of the box with no problems. "Finished" means i have stopped at the point when Dragon stopped producing this kit. It needs spare tracks, towing cables and some stowage, while it looks like a new and unused in this condition i have kept the degree of dirt/weathering low. Anyway here are the photos, hope you like this one.
  8. Hello after a long time,Friends - Finally, with the more than appreciated help from 'Plastix', I'm delighted to be able to post my photos again on the Forum. My photos are now on Flickr after the Photobucket Debacle and able to use my iPad!! Now I need to get my current build completed and posted! 😉👍 All the very best,Paul.
  9. Hello,Friends - This subject is my first completed build of the year. The only non-standard kit part is the pitot probe which I like to replace with nickel silver wire. The paint used was Humbrol 'Super Enamel'No.69,airbrushed over a base of Halfords White Primer. The decals are sealed between two brush-applied coats of 'Klear' Floor Polish.I wanted to pose her with deflected control surfaces and an open hood and canopy. The mountings for the hood and canopy were very fragile so I've discreetly strengthened them with the wire. Thank you for viewing.😉👍 All the very best,Paul.
  10. Hello,Friends - Having enjoyed the build experience of 'Voodoo',I'm making this subject my second WIP..She will be finished in ADC Grey in ANG Markings.(Unit to be decided) I'll fit home-made intake blanks and a needle will replace the plastic pitot but the rest is OOB.I look forward to this build and hope you and I will enjoy. The 'dry-fit' gives me an insight of the task ahead and I'm looking forward to it. All the very best,Paul.
  11. Hello,Friends - This project is my first WIP.I intend to build her totally OOB and as Monogram intended. No re-scribing,resin or phot-etch.I hope to give her the justice she deserves and that this will be of interest to you.All the best,Paul.
  12. Model depicts the marine F-8 flown in vietnam. I enjoyed this build very much. Kit is a raised panel line.Serious short comings of the kit are the rear landing gear is very short which makes the aircraft sits lower (read this only after build is done), intake scoops are solid , decals were a nightmare (Can't expect more from a 30 year old kit). But other than that it is a good kit.... Hope you like it Vivek
  13. Hello everyone, Would like to make a contribution to this GB. I know I have about a month and half left, I'll give it a go any way. Here's the initial kit and some progress shots. Final marking have not been decided. Comments are always welcomed.
  14. Built this kit over the weekend for a friend of mine. Build was straight forward and I like the end result. I fixed couple of things after I took the pictures... I forgot the APU and I assembled it and fixed the landing gear buckling ... Hope everybody likes it Regards V
  15. My entry to the Group Build is the Special Hobby kit of the Mustang Mark 1, in 1/72nd scale. It is from 430 Squadron, one of a number of RCAF squadrons tasked with low level reconnaissance during this period. I will be using the DPCasper decals for Operation Bodenplatte, which includes one of these aircraft, listed as being at Eindhoven when the Luftwaffe attack occurred. Here is the box top:- The kit is a little unusual, as it contains two major sprues, each with a full set of fuselages, wings and tailplanes. To get the Mk. 1, you have to "cross kit" the fuselages from one sprue with the wings and tailplanes from the other. You also have to cut out the cannon from the wings and replace them with resin inserts, as the Mk. 1 had six machine guns in the wings, instead of the mark 1A's four cannon (as well as two in the fuselage, on either side of the nose). Here are the sprues:- The kit also has a nice bit of resin, not just for the wings, but also to dress up the cockpit, and replacement resin wheels (with "CMK" marked on the base). Thanks for looking! Philip
