Hello Everyone... This is my first ship build since 1993 and the first completed since the mid 1980’s. It is IBG’s excellent 1/700 kit of the Hunt class D.E.. It is built in the markings of the O.R.P. Kujawiak in June of 1942. This ship was my Uncle Edwin’s ship while with the R.N./Polish Navy in exile. He was from Chicago born and bred but snuck into Canada in September of 1941 to join the Polish Navy. He did many cruises to the Soviet union, Egypt, Malta, Gibraltar, and across the Atlantic. Officially the ship is listed as having struck a mine. Unofficially my uncle claims to have see the torpedo launched from an aircraft that sank her near Malta.
I would like to thank everyone that helped with info and color guidance I do hope they're close enough to accurate. Lastly I learned a very important lesson, my fat hands/sausage fingers are no good for this scale. So my next venture will be larger, and yes I plan on building all of his ships. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy until 1957. Without further boring you I shall present the model.
Yes I do plan on getting/making a base for her in the future. Please feel free to ask questions, post comments, or visit the build thread.
