  1. With my current project coming to an end, I dug up an older kit from my stash. On "order" from she who must be obeyed, I chose the Hasegawa P-51D Mustang "Nose Art". An oldie. Upon opening the box, I discovered that I already started it (not too much though ). But the instructions are missing the blue print on the inside. Since there was no internet then (yes, it is that old), I couldn't proceed then. Started to lay down the green interior layer and the zinc yellow wheel wells. Not sure about the decals, though. What is the quality and how will they hold after all these years? Upo
  2. Hello rotorheads, while researching paints for my many models in my stash, I came across this very interesting and cool article about a fellow veteran. She is a former airforce master sergeant, Shayne Meder has been painting SH-60 and other airframes for the last twenty years. Here work can be seen on no less than 50 helos and other aircraft, and may in fact be included as decals on the kits we build. If they don't have her work in decals, they certainly should, she does incredible work! Here is a link to the story https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/02/25/air-forc
  3. Hi I've just found interesting set of photos with Curtiss C-46 Commando belonging to 4th Combat Cargo Group of USAAF in Burma during WWII. https://www.flickr.com/photos/tresijas/sets/72157630818092194/ You may find eleven serials of C46 serving there: http://www.comcar.org/4th_ComCar/14th_CCS_so317.htm Any idea how to link nose arts with serials? Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek
  4. Hi, Two Fox Moths were impressed to SEAC: MA954 was impressed 31.10.42 and was used by 3rd TAF Communications Sqn, Comilla in .44. Soc 31.7.44. MA955 was impressed 31.10.42 and was used by Bengal CU and later by 3rd TAF Communications Sqn, Comilla. Soc 31.7.44. There are at least two photos in IWM collection showing of one of those machines, they were recently quoted in a topic on this forum on SEAC types http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234976366-india-white-seac-roundels-on-miscellaneous-types/ On the photo of second post there - presenting SEAC Fox Moth - there is s
  5. Hi all, I'd been very keen to get hold of this Auster for quite a while and, at last, I got it a few weeks back I decided to have a little bit of fun with this aircraft so I decided to paint it as a hack aircraft of a 2TAF fighter squadron, lovingly adorned with one or Vargas' pin-up girls as well as an extremely optimistic tally on the nose Construction was reasonably straightforward and offered lots of opportunity for scratch building (I couldn't resist). Though I didn't do any major work to the overall model, I spent a lot of time adding the small details, in my mind it's the sma
  6. Hello fellow modelers, I am looking for the colors of the nose art of a B-17F that crashed in the Netherlands, near the town of Zegveld, in february 1944. The plane was named San Antonio Rose, and the nose art depicts a girl with a lasso, which wraps around the two nose windows on the port side. I have a b/w picture... We are building a model of this particular B-17 for a memorial display on May 15-16, so any help regarding the colors would be greatly appreciated! Regards, René
  7. Dear Britmodellers, Five new books will be published by Kagero in January 2014. The following titles will be available after 17th January: miniTOPCOLORS No. 40 Pacific Lightnings Part I Maciej Góralczyk, Andrzej Sadło Two decal sheets with 1:72, 1:48 and 1:32 individual markings for 8 P-38 Lightnings with sexy nose art. The decal sheets were printed by Cartograf. Each painting scheme is depicted on beautifully drawn 4-view colour profiles and described in the 18 page guidebook with English and Polish text. The authors selected the following aircraft: - P-38G-15-LO; s/n 43-2384, coded 'I
