  1. This will be my entry in this group build: I’ll be doing as the NVAF machine, Red 5020 with the victory stars on the nose. I’ll make a start as soon as my F/A-18 is finished over in the Hornet STGB. AW
  2. Howdy All, Just taken some pic`s of my latest effort so I hope you don`t mind me sharing them with you My attempt at Heller`s re-boxing of Smer`s 1/48 MiG-17 kit Completed to represent an aircraft of the 923rd Fighter Reg`, `Yen The` ( no, I don`t know what it means 🙂 ) NVAF I`ve had the decals for ages but couldn`t find any pic`s or much info` on the particular airframe so just decided to give it my best shot The camouflage is described in the instruction as `used for missions at the sea` Decals from L Decals Studio LDS 48007, the kit is mostly from the box contents Hope you enjoy, thanks for looking Enjoy the sunshine, cheers Russ
  3. Hi Everyone, At last I`ve finished my attempt at Eduards 1/48 MiG-21 and managed to get some pic`s whilst the weather cleared briefly. Built from the PFM Profipack boxing and finished to represent an aircraft of: 927th `Lam Son`, NVAF, piloted by Le Thanh Dao, 10th May 1972 Really well detailed kit that seemed to fight me right up until the end, too many almost microscopic parts for my liking which often pinged away into some other reality or were impossible to hold and file down..... ...and ended up being replaced with bits of wire and scraps of plastic. The Photo Etch, which I normally dread worked really well by comparison. The last thing that happened was the gunsight disappeared at some point after being glued to the windscreen frame right at the end of the build, so I had to cobble one together from bits and pieces....... ........then fit it after the screen and seat had been fitted. The scheme isn`t one of the kit options and is one that caught my eye in Ospreys MiG-21 Units of the Vietnam war book, Bort No`s came from the stash. Hope you enjoy, thanks for looking Cheers Russ
  4. Hi All, Just managed to catch a bit of brightish weather and took some photo`s of my latest completion My attempt at Hobby Bosses 1/48 MiG-17F Finished to represent an aircraft of: 921st Fighter Regiment, NVAF, Sao Do around 1968 Built pretty much from what`s in the box, minus the engine to try and make it sit on the nose wheel a bit easier Still took a fair bit of weight though ( might have to reinforce the shelf ) Decals are from `L Decals Studio` sheet LDS 48007, `MiGs over North Vietnam part 2` Had to try this scheme when I saw it though I was tempted by a stripey camo`d option on the sheet. Hope you enjoy Thanks for looking, Cheers Russ
  5. Howdy all, thought I`d show some pic`s of my latest completion; My attempt at Trumpy`s 1/48 MiG 21 Built 100% OOB, and even used the photo.etch ( though there isn`t too much ) Painted with different shades of Humbrol Enamels and sealed with Johnsons Klear With the radome and undercarriage wells painted with some ancient Aeromaster Acrylics Lots and lots of inserts to do on it but they all fitted well. and posed here with my earlier effort: Academys later MiG 21 ( though I can`t remember the version ) though I think I over did the weathering on that one Hope you enjoy looking at and enjoy the last of the good weather for a while Thanks for looking, Cheers Russ
  6. Hello again everyone, I`m on a roll, with two completions this week, this being my second. Hobbyboss, 1/48th scale An-2 Colt, done as a generic North Vietnamese Transport aircraft in order for me to finish it as I had got other plans for it Originally I bought it to make a model of one of the An-2`s that attacked the CIA radio site (lima site 85) in Laos but but got stalled as I couldn`t find enough information on any modifications done especially the mortar installation or wing protection for the rocket pods also pictures of markings etc varied too much from different sources so I have finished it in a way that if I find out enough it shouldn`t be too difficult to change it, should I decide to anyway, apart from the decals, which are from the stash, here it is as Mr Hobbyboss intended. Hope you enjoy, Russ
