  1. I came across this on the IWM YouTube channel and thought I'd share it here for anyone looking for some reference on the Spitfire Mk.I cockpit. Apologies if this has already been posted or if I have put this thread in the wrong place. Hope you enjoy. https://youtu.be/3hzI81kEUFo
  2. This model was supposed to be a relaxing work, but it's not like that. Quite a complex and poor model to work with. It can be seen that the company is new on the market and that it still needs a lot of work to reach the level of better and higher quality companies. Here is picture.
  3. Finished two years ago, Gunze colours, no extras. Decals from Tamiya kit.
  4. The model I packed away ≈ 15 years ago. A quick image history to catch up to the present state of construction. My first use of MR. PAINT The test color came out much lighter. I guess due to the lack of primer. Camera color looks off between photos, I will investigate. My own masks... Not too shabby, although I'm always tense while taking off the masking tape.
  5. Mk.I Male H.M.L.S. Pincher Takom 1/35 This is Takom's new Mk.I, finished as H.M.L.S. Pincher from the Palestine front in 1917. It's a nice kit, with some nice additions like the sponson trolley. That's hard to use for it's intended purpose, as the tank doesn't have any interior, so you can't really show it with the sponsons removed. A bit off fuss has been made about the cab being too narrow, which it is, but once the tracks are on, it doesn't really show that much. The decals for Pincher came from New Penguin from Russia, who do a set that covers all the Mk.I's sent to Palestine Thanks for looking Andy
  6. I'm up for this with a triple build of the excellent Tamiya kit in 1/72. I'll be doing a Birdcage Corsair as a Fleet Air Arm Mk.I, an F4U-1A boxing as a Brewster built Mk.III and an F4U-1D boxing as a post-war RNZAF aircraft. Decals will come from Xtradecal, Fündekals and Freightdog, wheels from Barracudacast and a sprinkling of etch from Eduard. Mark.
  7. Afternoon All, A bit late for this particular party, but I've decided to weigh in with these two from Tamiya in 1/72. I hummed and hawed about joining in with this STGB as I've a number of other things on the go at the mo and had wanted to concentrate on getting some of them finished, but I've decided a quick hassle free project is just the tonic for an ailing mojo! A quick delve into the stash came up with these two from Tamiya that will be finished as a couple of aircraft from 73 OTU in Fayid, Egypt. This will be finished as a Mk.I in ANA equivalent paints using Freightdog decals. And this one will be finished as a Mk.II, however I'll decide a bit closer to the finish which one I'll be doing. A couple of mask sets to save time as well as some resin and metal details to build upon the rather nice plastic Tamiya have provided. I'll be starting shortly, but since I'm on nights this weekend it probably won't be before Mon/Tues. Regards, Mark.
  8. Hi All, Here is my 2nd model on this forum and my first ever 1:48 aircraft. So i went with Tamiya inspired by many builds of this kit here on BM. From a newbie perspective I made every single mistake that was possible during the building. From wrong colors and respraying it to destroying extradecal roundels, not having a very good looking canopy in the end and so on and so on Colours are Vallejo Air. I still like the result all things considered. a few from during the build: Thanks for looking. Dema
  9. Hurricane Mk.I R4118, Pics thanks to Mark Mills. MK.I under restoration pics mine.
  10. Well I've been making the most of being stuck inside because of the rain... This is the obsolete Airfix Spitfire Mk.I (old tool ofc) and I had a bash at converting it. I admit, it is some what crude, however, it looks the part Modifications; Sanded all the raised panel lines and filled the panel trenches around the engine, The curved front canopy came from Airfix's XIX, the "un-blown" slidey bit and the rear bit (very technical) were thermoformed, The two blade prop was built from scratch, The rudder was altered, Undercarriage legs from the Heller XVI and the wheels had the spokes filled in, Scratch built tail skid, Cockpit interior had a control column and belts added, Pitot tubes came from bit of metal. Paint; Overall Hu90 after which I blended in various shades of greens and yellows to give the dirty zinc chromate look, Control surfaces painted with Hu11 for aluminium dope, The airscrew was painted with Citadel Snakebite Leather and given and oil wash, The cowl was painted with Citadel Chainmail Decals all came from spares other than the exhausts which were printed by myself (My thanks to Rick Brown for the jpeg). I think thats enough talking... Cheers, Ben.
  11. Hi all, Found this Spitfire half built in a tin... Seeing as the old tool is so naff I thought I'd have some fun with it. Would anyone like to guess what I'm doing? What I've done so far is sand off all the rubbish panel lines and fill in the the huge panel lines as well as the exhaust. The Rudder is being reshaped too. Ben.
