  1. Good afternoon. This is my version of Italeries Mirage IIIC 1/32 It’s a BIG kit and was a really fun build. I decided to go for the Djibouti scheme as it allowed me to have the most fun with weathering and general grittiness overall. There were quite a few new techniques employed along with some good old fashioned scratch building. As it was a sunny day yesterday I decided to get her out in the stunning weather that is her natural habitat! ☀️🤩 If you followed the WIP thanks for tagging along, if not and should you wish to see how this beast goes together then here’s the thread. Thanks to all the Britmodellers who helped along the way, especially @Brandy whose pilot friend helped answering some of the more obscure questions about this aeroplane. Man I love BM for that level of knowledge and help. ❤️ Hope you like the pics. Not as many of the underside as I’d have liked but it’s an awkward fish to balance the wrong way up. 🤪 Here we go. Sun bleached and beaten. And here’s the ladder!! 🪜 And rested just for kicks. Hope you like her, she was great fun to build and paint. 🖤 Phew I think we’re up to date. Take care and as always Happy modelling. Comments and questions welcomed. Johnny
  2. Hello guys! After nearly three months without scale models to build, I was able to snatch this one from a Facebook seller, Hobby Boss's Mirage IIICJ in 1:48. I won't be using the kit decals, I'll use the ones printed by Condor Decals (of Argentina). The final scheme will be of a Mirage IIICJ based at El Plumerillo Ait Base, Mendoza, 1986. Here are the obligatory box, sprues and decals shots:
  3. Hi comrades! Here is my Mirage #45, famous by 3 kills against Lebanon and Iraqi Hunters and Iraqi MiG-21. All kills by guns. This plane was lost from gun explosion in training flight about 1970. Pilot ejected safely. In early NMF Mirages in IAF in some profiles one of the aft-bottom panels depicted in greenish Zinc-Chromate color, but it was not common, part of the photos shows it in different shade of metal. I decided to make it metal. Eduard kit is not the easiest to build, but IMHO the best representation of Mirage IIIC in 1/48. I added some aftermarket (resin wheels and exhaust by Reskit, additional brass from Eduard, wheel wells from Armycast and metal pitot by Master). The decals were original from Eduard and they are fantastic. Scratch-built additions included wiring in cockpit and undercarriage. Metal paints used from Gunze "Super Metallic 2" series, the biggest red designs painted. the build is here: Thanks for looking
  4. High Planes Models (HPM) is working in the framework of its Mirage III/V family on a future injected 1/72nd Dassault Mirage IIIC kit - ref. French boxing should be branded by PJ Production. Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1008428789325267/permalink/1041967469304732/ V.P.
  5. My entry will be Eduard's Weekend Edition 1/48 Mirage IIIC. Won't be starting for a while, as I still have to finish a couple of other ongoing group build entries, a MIG-21R and Mk2 Transit.
  6. Hi folks! Here is my latest build. It is Mirage IIIC from Italeri. Nothing special with this kit. Some minor fitting problems only. Decals from box for the Djibouti squadron. I used Isracast jumpseat and Eduards photoetch. This kit is worth buying if you want a nice Mirage in 1/32 scale.
  7. Hi guys, While surfing a bit around, I came across the Tamiya 1/100 Mirage IIIC kit - a kit I wasn't aware of at all before. Beside its rather odd scale, is it any good? Can somebody say something about its quality (detail level and accuracy)? It's a pity it's not in 1/72. Wouldn't a top notch 1/72 Mirage III from Tamiya make many of us happy? TIA. Cheers, Michael
  8. Hi, here's my Eduard 1/48 kit (Profipack) built for the French Fancy GB (please see the GB section for more). SFTB finished with Gunze for the camo and a mix of Tamiya and Xtracrlix shades for the blue. Represents an a/c of EC 03/010 Vexin, Armee de l'Air in Djibouti 1984. Build was quite tricky in places, like most Eduard kits I've built, but looks alright once built. I do hope they try and simplifying things though for future releases. i also managed to crack the windscreen, but Eduard's customer service came to the rescue with a new sprue free of charge, so kudos to them Anyway I hope it's worth your time taking a look. Thanks. FF
  9. Hi all, this is what I plan to build. i have a question though, the painting instructions indicate areas of zinc chromate underneath. I can't recall seeing any pics with this, is it accurate, particularly at the rear which is shown for both versions I am considering? Cheers. FF
  10. Hi everyone, having totally forgotten about the group build (our space-time concept is way off the beaten track...), I was abruptly reminded about it yesterday while browsing the Group builds section... Quite shameful, if I say so myself. So I am throwing my hat in the ring with the Heller Mirage III. It can be modeled as either the single seater © or double seater (. I am going for the Mirage IIIC. A single cockpit will be painful enough! Photos of the sprues are next. I am adding a couple of aftermarket accessories (Aires ejection seat, Master pitot probe and Eduard PE) I did start re-scribing the fuselage and wings during my last stint in the DRC's Middle of Nowhere... Purely to try and keep some sanity during the long, mosquito infested evenings... It did not work. After taking these pix I glued the wheels (in halves...) and the supersonic tanks, just as a warming up exercise... I have no idea as to whether I will finish it in time, but I intend having fun trying. Miracles have been known to happen! JR
