  1. hi all. here is my last work. A late swiss version of the Mirage III. The kit is like usual for this serie but i had some extra work to do : the nose is too short ( 7 mm less ) so i had to fix that. The exhaust nozzle is really poor compared to the Reskit one... the main landing gear is too short for the Reskit wheels, another fix to do. The interior is not bas but has to be improved. The ejection seat is false, has to be modified too. Some extra fuel tank from PJ production and missile from Reskit. now the pics. first the real one : l and my model : hope you like her.
  2. Hello guys, I'm planning on converting Italeri's Mirage IIIE into an EA. For that, I need to know the measurements of the empennage extension of the Mirage IIICJ. That part is needed to make (at least externally), an MIIIEA. This is the piece I need the measures of (highlighted in blue). I need its length, width, and height. Hopefully one of you will have the MIIIC with that extension and will be able to give me the measures. Preferently in centimeters. Thanks!
  3. Hello! This is my most recent project, an israeli Mirage IIIC Shachak, the Eduard 1/48 profipack kit. Have to say that, at least for me, Mirages III, in 1/48 scale, seem to be cursed. In the past, I built a Kinetic kit, a truly nightmare. Really bad engineering, even worse fitting and almost useless instructions. So, after some reviewing of other brands, all of them still looked not great. But, since Eduard has a good reputation and I’ve built some of their other kits fine, I’ve decided to give it a shot. Big disappointment, because this one is also not good. Flashes all over the places, the fuselage halves are too flexible and a lit bit warped. There are no location points for the cockpit tub, and you have to hold the 2 halves and the cockpit together and try to glue them in the right position. If you succeed in this, you’ll find out the windshield panel is too high for the front canopy to sit properly. I’ve managed to minimize this by a lot of dry fit and clipping the base of the PE for the instruments panel and gunsight. Not to mention the plastic part in front of the gunsight also had to be very sanded, otherwise the front canopy would not be flushed with the fuselage. I just don’t get it, the guys at Eduard have to know this, still… Main landing gears engineering is also bad. No positive locations and/or fixing points for most of the many pieces. And for the plastic parts, all of them have their issues. Front canopy slightly too narrow, rear part too wide (better keep it open); lights lenses all too big for their respective spots. Decals are Cartograph, so no problems here. Nevertheless, all the yellow triangles and red stripes on the wings were masked and painted. Way better! Well, I know these are a lot of complaining for my part, sorry for that, but probably because I had good expectations from an Eduard kit. Anyway, I’m happy with the results now it’s finished. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
  4. Greetings, I just wanted to share a few pictures of these jets I built rather slowly during the past year. They have a common theme in belonging to South American air forces, and being delta winged aircraft. The first one is a Modelsvit 1/72 Mirage III EBR, built in the "azure grey" scheme. Aftermarket used is Master pitot tube and Reskit Mirage IIIE resin engine nozzle. Also replaced gun barrels with hypodermic needles, and added some brake lines to gear legs from copper and lead wires. Very nice kit, had fun building it, just required some patience, as fit is rather tight in some places and it has the typical feeling on a short run kit. Out of the box they include PE and masks. The second one is the AMK 1/72 Kfir C2. I picked a Ecuatorian machine from the 1995 Cenepa War, the one that scored a "lucky" aerial kill on a Peruvian A-37 Dragonfly. Used Eduard dedicated PE set, Master pitot tube, Aires resin engine nozzle and New Ware mask set. Scratchbuilt brake lines and various small aerials that were appearently missing from the kit. The third one was the most time consuming, as it took me 7 months just to get the parts for it, haha. It is a Ecuatorian 1/72 "long-nose" Kfir C10, built from the 1/72 AMK kit as well, but using a resin conversion set by Scaleworx resin, and decals by Aztec modelling from Mexico. These two aftermarket items were a proper nightmare to acquire in Central Europe where I live. There is some scratchbuild lumps and bumps all over it also, as the conversion set doesn't include everything I needed (instrument panel coaming, various aerials, etc.). Other upgrades include Kfir rear fuselage pylons by Armycast.cz, Master pitot tube, some parts from a Kfir C7 Eduard PE set, Aires resin nozzle. Loadout involves 2 TERs out of the box, so in total the jet comes with a spectacular amount of 10 Mk82 bombs. I had spares from the second AMK kit I built before. Decals for weapons and pylons are sadly omitted from the kit, so I used some spare ones I could find. All three are far from perfect, as I don't own an airbrush, they were completely brush painted, and achieving a proper thin coat with minimal brush marks is still a skill I need to master. But with each model I feel it is getting a bit better. Also experimenting with various "dedicated" brush-only thinners and various paints and brush types. I mostly used AMMO Mig and Vallejo acrylics, including pin wash and varnishes. Weathering is perhaps a bit overdone and uneven, I admit. Used Tamiya weathering master products. I like those a lot. Photography could be better also, I used a very shiny background and the lighting is too much "in your face", that is my opinion. Anyway, I will try to improve for my next model. To continue this latin american trend, I am eyeing a Ecuatorian Atlas Cheetah C and a Cuban Mig-21 next... but both involve "hard to get" products, haha. Scaleworx makes a Cheetah conversion and Aztec has some proper nice Cuban Raiders decal set... they might arrive by Christmas.... next year! 🤣 If I have some spare time later on, I might write a bit longer post detailing construction. The kits are great, don't get me wrong, I just think there is some parts where the modeller has to pay attention, in order not to complicate later work for himself.
  5. Dassault Mirage IIIE, Heller/Mister Craft 1/72. Decals Syhart 50 Year Universary EC3/3 Ardennes.
  6. This is my Mirage 3E in 1/48 scale. This is a rebox of the quite old ESCI kit, but it captures the general shape of the Mirage 3 quite well I think. It has raised panel lines, which I accented by slightly polishing the paint off the panel lines with a very fine nailbuffer. I am not completely happy about the way the NMF turned out, but it was a good project to learn from. Most of the paints are Vallejo and Mig acrylics. Kind regards, Gerben
