  1. And so now the final photos of my falcon. Don’t be surprised by the bolder colors, as this time I used my new cell phone, which has an excellent Leica camera. So that’s it, a good year of fun in the Star Wars universe. Now I’m looking forward to my next project with a real ship. Of course again in this theater.
  2. Hello, It will be my first model build. I am used to painting gaming miniatures and larger busts, but I would like to try something new. Millenium falcon starship always fascinated me. Since I was a little boy I always wanted to build it. I have chosen 1/144 scale because finished product is not gigantic and can nicely fit in the shelf, on the other hand, model details are still superb. I was lucky to get this one really cheap. I know that recent released version has some minor bugs fixed, but for me this already is supper cool (by the way, you can read more about it here: https://sites.google.com/site/millenniumfalconnotes/bandai-s-millennium-falcon). I’m not inted to make my build supper accurate to original work – this scale in my opinion is too small to do it right. Of course, you can find many 3D printed parts to enrich you millenium falcon but they are quite expensive and not as smooth as the Bandai plastic is (here is the good example: https://www.shapeways.com So just to start a few photos of parts moved just out of the box:
  3. Not much I can add to all that's been written or all the builds that have been shared of this amazing kit. Even if the mandibles don't sit at the right angle, it's still a majestic piece of engineering; nearly a thousand parts - from the hull halves to a greeblie smaller than a nail paring - all of it fitting perfectly. It's a hypnotizing process to watch the layers and layers of detail build across the hull, and an epic process to paint it all. I learned more building and painting this one several years ago than I have on any other kit. My addiction to WW2 planes started here, which is perhaps the best tribute I can pay to the geniuses who designed the original.
  4. Revell/Bandai's 1/72 'Perfect Grade' version of the #MillenniumFalcon will be back in stock this coming week! #starwars #revellmodels #modelkit #hansolo #wookie #chewbacca #bandai https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/blog/article/bandai-perfect-grade-millennium-falcon-jul-2019/
  5. Welp, I finally gave in to temptation and started the Bandai 1:144 Millennium Falcon that's been sitting in my closet for quite a while now. I'm going to do a proper as-it-happens WIP thread for this build. I still haven't decided on all the particulars -- whether or not I'm going to light this sucker and how much extra detail I'm going to add. I probably will end up lighting it -- fully lit TFA-style looks *really* good to me. I just put in an order for several Flory washes for weathering -- hopefully they'll arrive well before I get to the weathering stage. I started yesterday with the mandible maintenance wells. Inspired by this build video, and this stunning Bandai build I'm painting a lot of detail in the mechanical bits, like I've done with my Blue Leader build. Definitely not going for screen accuracy here . First a coat of Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. Then a base color coat of Gunship Gray. Then I dry-brushed Vallejo Duraluminum all over, and picked out details using Vallejo Gunmetal Gray, Valljeo Duraluminum, Tamiya X-12 Gold, and Citadel Hashut Copper.
  6. so I thought it time to have a go at this one I have had in storage for a while yes Sir it is from the 80's but now I haven't had it since then, I built it as a kid I got it from John menzie and if I remember right it wasn't the best of fits. I bought this one over 5 years ago from eBay and it came with a diorama. any way it was still bagged up as well (sorry no pic of that) so here it is ready to go this was when I remembered a little about it. the mouldings are not up to modern standards so first job was to clean up the top and bottom of the ship CARFULLY in places then start to construct it and that's as far as I have got so far, I will keep you upto date as far as possible, any tips gratefully received I am prob going to airbrush it and that will be the first one in 5 years , am I mad
  7. I've always wanted to do one of these in 1/72 scale, so when I spotted that the current Revell easy build kits are currently quite widely available for half price (£30) I grabbed the chance. The kit really does just snap together and could easily be assembled to fly-away condition in an afternoon, although I fettled a few poorly fitting bits and then got out the glue to keep things properly in place. As provided, it comes with some superficial pre-painting of detail, which is very sparce, but in all honesty quite effective enough for the main target market of this kit. I added a fair amount of detail painting, then a heavy wash over the whole thing. That's all though - other than one spare (ex-Sea King) instrument decal applied in the cockpit, everything else you see is what you get in the kit. The builder is offered a few options representing the Falcon as it appears in the different films. For the most part these are undercarriage changes , the different shaped dish antenna and some different hatch panels. There are, of course, far better representations available in various scales, but whilst it is definitely not Finemolds standard, for sheer size alone this one provides a lot of fun and makes for an easy build. 8. Just picked up the first issue of this: http://shop.deagostini.co.uk/build-the-millennium-falcon.html Somehow it slipped under the radar for me. I haven't decided if it's worth the £900 it will cost to collect all the issues yet, but the inital issue parts seem quite good. Anyone else considering this one? Cheers, Stuart
