  1. Hi, Uhh, With a little one around the house, modelling is getting really hard, but I've managed to finished another model! Yeah. This time is a French VBL with Milan Anti-Tank Missle Launcher by Tiger Model. First go at this manufacturer and.. Yeah, the model is nicely detailed, with full interior and some extras such PE and great decals, but the flash on the parts was a bit of a pain to be honest. Also there are few mistakes in the instructions as well as missing reference to paint the interior apart from some basic stuff. Overall nice kit. Finished with Vallejo Air series paint set for nato vehicles. I hope you'll like it! Thanks! Bart
  2. Landrover WMIK/Milan Etch Set – E35-178 ET Models 1:35 The new Landrover WMIK with Milan is a very nice kit in its own right and builds nicely on the back of the standard WMIK kit. ET Models have released this set which comes on five sheets of relief etched brass and has a small acetate sheet with the instruments printed on. The standard of etching is very high and the relief etched details look very nice indeed. As usual some of the kit details need to be removed before being replaced by brass parts, and the modeller will also need to supply their own brass or styrene rod. The instructions on ET Models trademark green A4 sheets. These are very clear and easy to read, but care and attention should still be maintained to ensure that the parts are folded correctly and fitted in the correct position. Assembly and fitment begins with the replacement of the radiator grille, removal of the wing details and their replacements fitted, along with the replacement headlight protection bars. The aerial base is folded to shape and the kit kits flexible aerial base fitted on top. There are the usual numerous straps for use in tying down the pioneer tools along with extra clamps and brackets. The drivers position receives new pedals and a new dashboard. Both front seats are enhanced with new seat belts, for both shoulders and lap. The tilt strap brackets need to be removed from the kit and replaced by brass parts whilst the canvas doors, missing from the kit are made up of rolled brass and tied off with two straps. Two ammunition boxes are provided along with their associate cradles and there are new identification screens for each side. The tail gate receives a whole new locking mechanism and brackets for the ammunition basket, which is also fitted out with new perforated sheets for the base, front and back. Still at the rear of the vehicle new bumpers are fitted along with a couple of other extraneous fixtures. New sand channels are provided and these are strapped to the vehicle sides. The front storage basket has new netting and the Milan launcher is fitted with new locking pin chains and handles for the missile tube. The spare missile box is fitted with new locks once the kit detail has been removed. Conclusion This is another nice set from ET Models, although to be fair I’m not sure whether some of the parts in the kit really need to be replaced since they were already PE. The finer details though will make for a good looking and interesting model along with the parts that HobbyBoss missed out. Unfortunately the rifle storage brackets that need to be added have been missed out on this set as well. Recommended. Review Sample courtesy of
  3. Landrover WMIK with Milan Hobbyboss 1:35 The majority of parts and sprues in this kit are exactly the same as that reviewed by Mike back in 2011, HERE, so rather than repeat what he wrote this review will deal with what’s new in this kit. Hobbyboss kits come in nice sturdy boxes, and this one is no different, with an artists depiction of a Milan being fired from a WMIK somewhere in the desert. Inside are the same Caramac coloured sprues that go to build the base vehicle. The only difference is that there is a new sprue containing the parts for the Milan launcher, missile tube, tie down rails for the sides of the rear compartment and a spare missile container which is assembled from the two main body parts plus two end pieces and fitted to the left hand side of the fighting compartment, but not before the two tie down rails have been fitted to both sides. The launcher is made of the main three legged base onto which the mounting unit and three gas struts are attached. The sight arm and optical unit is assembled out of two halves, onto which the optical lenses are fitted along with the optional positioned protective covers and pistol grip. The missile tube is also in two halves which, once glued together are fitted with the front cone with moulded frangible cover. To the bottom of the missile assembly the attachment rails are attached. The launcher is then assembled and fitted with the pintle which slots into the hole in the base unit. The missile and sight assemblies are then attached to their respective positions. The whole launcher assembly is then attached to the mounting ring fitted to the vehicle. To replace the incorrectly positioned spare wheel on the bonnet in the original kit Hobbyboss have provided an open storage rack. Conclusion This is a very nice addition to the WMIK fleet and whilst the kit still has a few inaccuracies, such as the mountings for the two SA-80s it really looks the part, especially with that big launcher on the roof bars. I can quite happily recommend the kit it looks like a lot of fun to build and can be detailed to the hilt by diorama modellers and super detailers alike. Review sample courtesy of
  4. Hi all Does anyone know if there's a MILAN conversion kit available for the 1:48 Airfix WMIK, or even if Airfix are planning one? Tia Pete
