  1. Here is a Mig15bis built for a Forgotten Conflict SIG (IPMS NL). Its one of two Mig15 for the theme Korea War which we showcased for a Nationals at the end of November. Built with the KMC detail set which includes a replacement cockpit, ejection seat, flaps and rudders. Its a Tamiya kit so the fit is fine, I added the engine but closed up the fuselage. The Tamiya '139' is an option of the HM Decals 'B-29 Killers - Russian MiG-15s over Korea' flown by the Russian Capitan Bytchkov van 17 IAP in 1951. The model was painted with Vallejo Metal Colors Aluminium and Dural Aluminium with Tamiya Smoke for highlights and Flory Models Grime wash for the panel lines .
  2. Here is a second Mig15bis built for a Forgotten Conflict SIG (IPMS NL). Its the second of two Mig15 for the theme Korea War which we showcased for a Nationals at the end of November. Built using the Trumpeter straight out of the box which is quiet a good kit only the fit around the cannon and machine guns in the nose was rather fiddly. Like the Tamiya kit there is an engine but I closed up the fuselage. The decals for the Trumpeter-kit are from the Owl Decals ‘Mikoyan MiG 15bis Night Fighter Red 546 (North Korea)' and features a a/c flown in 1952 by the Russian I.P. Galyshevsky of the 351e IAP. These were so-called 'B-29 killer' nightfighter. The colour scheme is one of those ones were there are 5 different circulating on the Internet so I picked one and painted it. Scheme was realsied using Blu-Tack line masks of the green and then oversprayed with Tamiya Buff XF-57. Flory Models Grime wash for the panel lines . Merry Christmas Brian
  3. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG 15 Bis, Red 40, 1953 I completed my model of this Soviet fighter which I finished with the colors and markings of the mount of pilot Nikolay Shkodin, who obtained five victories during the Korean war. I chose not to install the provided jet engine inside the fuselage and to display it next to the aircraft. For increased detailing, I used aftermarket seatbelt, instrument panel and main wheels from Eduard's. The jet engine Klimov-vk1 which is provided with the kit is adequately reproduced for this scale and, as said, I am displaying it on a static stand which was scratch built. The model was finished with mixes of Tamiya acrylic colors, while Vallejo metallic paints were used for the metallic finished parts. I sprayed the camouflage bands free-hand to obtain feathered demarcations, however, I am afraid that the obtained effect that might be a bit out of scale. I replaced the 2 x 23 mm gun muzzles with aluminium tubes, while the muzzle of the 37 mm cannon is an Eduard replacement. I also substantially modified the oversimplified pilot seat to better reproduce the type which was used at the time of the depicted aircraft. Panel lines were obtained by oil colors washes and other small stains with watercolor pencils. This is my first Russian subject and I found it rather an interesting aircraft to build (the build log can be found under this link: MiG15 build log). I hope that you like my final pictures. Best regards, Dan
  4. Hello everyone My entry will be the Eduard Profipack MiG-15UTI, and I will try to represent one of the Romanian Air Force MiG-15UTI. This type saw intense activity until 1992 preparing the young pilots for the more powerful 21's and 23's. I choose an 1974 machine, photographed on the Bacau Airfield, code "134", in a nice 3 colours camo pattern(not documented). 1974
  5. Okay.. This T plus build 8 since getting back into this modelling 'thing'. (and counting till I've done 12 ) This was supposed to be a quick build, and finished some weeks ago. It was going really well, but a little thing called life did something very unexpected in a manner I couldn't have even imagined.. so on the back-burner it went. Also kept me away from having a browse around here! The horror! So, this is the Eduard rendition of the Mig 15 in 1/72, recently reviewed right here on Britmodeller. This one being from the Dual Combo kit they do which I bought on a whim at a silly bargain price. A bit of PE in the box, some masks, and a few resin stores that are not used on this version. My first go with one of these Eduard things and golly! I'm impressed. Nicely engineered and the only area you really need to take extra care about is making sure the gun pack and nose all fit nice and snug. Oh, and stick some weight in the front where there is space fore of the cockpit tub. I had some liquid gravity on hand so it was the perfect test for it. Alclad Alu all over. Nose is painted Xtracolor high speed silver where apparently this aircaft had it's old code painted out. The blue bands were applied for wargame duties and I've done them using one of those nice Revell acrylics. So few markings this was the quickest decal session I've ever done! Thank you for your attention again. Next up after this one... I think it's back to something with familiar RAF roundels on. Which probably means I'll do an IAF Spitfire. I am so fickle. First, obligitory cockpit shot, because just for a change I had a pocket cam handy.
