  1. MiG-29UB Update sets, Seatbelts & Masks 1:32 Eduard for Trumpeter Kit The new tool MiG-29UB is welcome for those who build modern Soviet trianers, Eduard are now along with some sets for it. Get what you want for the areas you want to be more of a focal point. As usual with Eduard's Photo-Etch (PE) and Mask sets, they arrive in a flat resealable package, with a white backing card protecting the contents and the instructions that are sandwiched between. Interior Set (32928) This set has two pre-painted frets, and one brass one. You get cockpit details, (for both stations), instrument panels, and the other panels. Parts for the seats, bulkheads, side panels, seat rails, rudder pedals, and many other smaller cockpit parts. A new HUD, canopy mirrors, and other canopy parts. Zoom! Set (33196) This set contains a reduced subset of the update set, namely the pre-painted parts that are used to improve on the main aspects of the cockpit, as seen above, with the seat belts. Whatever your motivations for wanting this set, it provides a welcome boost to detail, without being concerned with the structural elements. Exterior Set (32424) This set contains as the name would suggest parts for the aircraft exterior. There are new intake ramps which can be modelled in the open or closed positions. Various antennas and grills, new engine fan parts, & static wicks Undercarriage Set (32425) This set contains as the name would suggest parts for the aircraft undercarriage and their bays. There are new linkages for the legs, new interiors for the doors with various panels for the bays. Also included are Brake lines for the wheels. Seatbelts (33196) This set contains one pre-painted fret. There are seatbelts, seat pads and ejection seat handles in the now familiar steel material. Masks (JX217) Supplied on yellow kabuki tape, these pre-cut masks supply you with a full set of masks for the exterior glazing. Tface Masks (JX218) Supplied on yellow kabuki tape, these pre-cut masks supply you with a full set of masks for the interior & exterior glazing. Review samples courtesy of
  2. MiG-29UB Izdelye 9.51 Photo Etch 1:72 Eduard Eduard have done a good job of keeping up with Trumpeter's recent resurgance of Soviet/Russian hardware, with sets for many of the new releases, including the Su-24, Su-27 and MiG-29. This latest set caters for the MiG-29UB twin-seat trainer version of the Fulcrum, and comes in both regular and Zoom variants. This set comprises two frets of photo etched parts. The first fret contains pre-painted parts for detailing the cockpit and includes harnesses, pull handles and cushions for the ejection seats, as well as details for the instrument panels, cockpit sidewalls, control columns and HUD unit. The second fret is unpainted and contains details for the rest of the airframe. The landing gear benefits from hydraulic lines and a mud guard, there are FOD guards for the engine air intakes and details for the missile rails, which will be crucial if you are not planning to finish your model with a full load of weapons. There are flame holders for the engine exhausts and details for the canopy too. Smaller details include a host of small aerials and plates to dot around the airframe. Full Set Zoom Set Conclusion This is a sensible and worthwhile upgrade for Trumpeter's rather excellent kit. It includes all of the extra details that you would want, with the added benefit of the cheaper Zoom set if you just want to jazz the interior up a bit. Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  3. Evening all, I've just finished building this as a mojo-mender as with a few long term projects on the go, I'd become bogged down and in need of something that went together without problems - this 1/32nd scale twin-stick MiG-29UB proved to be just the medicine. I picked this up at Telford for £25 which proved to be very good value for money. It's quite simple kit but in truth that's why I chose it - the cockpit lacks detail and the undercarriage bays are very basic, but the overall fit and construction is excellent and I encountered no construction issues at all. I used the decals from the box, which represent a MiG-29UB of 120 IAP based at Domna, Siberia, in the summer of 2003. Revell's colour guidance could only be interpreted by someone with a masters degree in colour mixing, so instead I just used pictures on the net for guidance, using mainly US equivalents from Xtracolour to get a close-enough match to the real thing. Other than that, it's as it comes in the box. Mikoyan MiG-29UB, Domna Air Base, Siberia, 2003. Jet pipe detail isn't too bad at all: Cockpit detail is pretty basic but some Airscale placards and dial decals and a belt set from Eduard means it's passable when peering through the canopy: The overall quality of the surface detail is excellent in my opinion: Wheel bays are basic but when sitting on its undercarriage very little is visible anyway: If you're thinking about a good value, large scale modern-era jet fighter, then I'd recommend this kit wholeheartedly... Tom
