  1. MiG-23ML Pictures by Sven Harjaek taken at La Bourget museum Paris.
  2. Just finished this one, a great kit in my eyes. Trumpeter kits is normally a kind of lottery, but this one is really nice and a pleasure to build. Well, everything is of course not excellent. Decals are easy to work with, but are not entirely correct. And the instructions places many of the Polish roundels in wrong direction. I also doubt that the camouflage pattern is correct... All additions, mainly in the cockpit, on the landing gears and mail wheel bays, are scratch-built. Apart from the pitot tube, by Master. The reason to have air brakes in open position is poor fit... But apart from that, and some difficulties to get a good fit between the upper and lower half of the body behind the wings, fit is really good. I used Gunze and Tamiya acrylics. For weathering, I used dry pastels and acrylic paint. The main wheel doors lean far too much - which is pretty difficult to correct. On the other hand, there are plenty of details on the landing gears. And it is really a challenge to get everything right there! I also added the missing doors for the wings when they are in low speed position - which meant that wings are not moveable. No problem for me, this is not a toy... Now I just wait for my favourite Flogger: MiG-23BN - which I hope will be released by Trumpeter later this year!

  6. Hello, I'd like to show you my still rudimentary effort in building the Italeri (ex ESCI) MiG-23 in 1/48. It has lots of known inaccuracies, I will try to correct some of them.... for my personal motivation: Hungarian Airforce 1990ies MiG-23 MF@ airliners MiG-23 MF@ airliners Incredients: Italeri MiG-23 MF Eduard BiG ED for MIg-23 Flogger Resin nose for the MIg-29 from fox3tornado (ebay, US) that resemles the floggers nose quite well. (Quickboosts Mig-29 resin version is noticably different ) various bits and bytes form Eduard excellent Mig-21 kits (R-60, pylons, maybe canopy parts, seat) I've already started cutting and some modification: more in the next post!
  7. Here's my 1/48 Trumpeter Mig-23, lovely kit very well detailed, I assume with a better modeller you can get much more out of it. I'm aware the pics are not good but with the light I have now it's what can I get Cheers!

  10. R-60/AA-8 Aphid Missiles 1:48 Eduard Brassin (648082) The R-60 was designed by the Molnyia bureau as a medium range light weight missile, with extreme manoeuvrability, which was achieved by its very small frame and light weight, coupled with a set of forward facing strakes on the nose that improved the action of the forward steering fins at the extremes of engagement. With a practical range of 4km and above, it was the most agile Air-to-Air missile for many years, and could be fitted with either a radar or optical seeker head, the radar head receiving the K suffix. The missile can be carried singly, in pairs on a dual rail, and although designed primarily for the Mig-23, it was also used on the Mig-21, Mig-25 and 27, as well as a host of other Sukhoi and Yak aircraft. R-60s have even been used on a Mi-24 Hind, and reportedly BAE Hawks in Finnish service. Not one you see every day! The Kit The set arrives in Eduard's deep clamshell package, and inside are the parts for four missiles, four single rails and two dual rails, as well as a choice of seeker head or cover, and two small pre-painted frets of Photo-Etch (PE) metal. The missiles are attached to their mould plugs at the rear, and these should be easy to remove cleanly. A small circular PE exhaust vent is attached, and an optional set of Remove Before Flight (RBF) covers are included on the PE frets. The nose can accept either the optical heads, or be replaced by a resin RBF cover, as well as a number of triangular tags that attach to the missiles and rail. The forward strakes are PE parts that slip into slots on the nose, while the steering vanes are resin and attach with pegs and holes just aft of the strakes. A pair of additional diagrams show both the location of the missiles on the two rack types, as well as the location of the triangular RBF tags. As is standard now, colour codes are given throughout using the Gunze Sangyo codes, as well as the colour names which should give most modellers all the information they need to find a match in their chosen range. Conclusion You can't have too many missiles, and with the resurgence of Russian Cold War jets with the model companies, these super-detailed resin missiles should be easy to find a use for. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  11. What are appropriate colors to use for painting those camouflaged Cold War-era MiG-23s in straight-up Soviet service? I am not a good paint mixer (as I am an excellent paint spiller), and I really only use acrylics, so "close enough" is probably fine. I see Testors/Polly (easily available here in the land of milk and honey that is northern Illinois) have some Soviet aircraft colors (Soviet Green, Soviet Khaki, Soviet Sand), but are these what I need?
  12. Hello everybody, This is my very first post ever on any forum, so please forgive me for any obvious errors. I enjoy Britmodeller so much as it's been a real source of information as well as inspiration for me since I joined. Anyway, today I decided to make my own small contribution to the site. I recieved my new 1/48 Trumpeter Mig-23 in the mail today and for those who haven't seen it yet and may be interested, here are acouple of imiges of some of the parts. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by quality of this kit, but in particular the surface detail. I literally compared it to my 1/48 Tamiya F-16's and the new Tamiya 1/32 P-51 kit, and IMHO it compares very well. In fact, I think this is Trumpeters best kit ever in terms of surface detail. The detail is very fine and crisp and easily compare to the best out there. The only downside for me is the limited decal option: Only one scheme, Yellow 49. Obviously as far as fit goes I cannot say yet, but if it fits together as good as it looks it should be a gem to build. Please forgive me the quality of the pictures as I am by no means a professional photographer. Enjoy! [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img]
