My son, knowing my hobby, gave me this as a Father’s Day gift last month. It’s well outside my usual subjects, so it made for a refreshing change. I also learnt a lot along the way (thanks @Bullbasket @Milan Mynar @FrancisGL ). Finished with markings straight out of the box using brush painted Vallejo Model Air Sinai Grey for the main colour and a variety of washes to make it look a bit used, but not abused. My current builds on the bench are being shoved to one side for this. It’s Father’s Day here in Australia and my son, knowing my hobby, has given me this. I have zero knowledge about IDF armoured vehicles, so I will need to do a bit of digging. Any advice on the paint scheme (Tamiya suggests Desert Yellow XF-59, but I guess that may not be accurate) and how I should paint the tracks (are modern tank tracks like the ones from WW II, so a sort of grey-brown colour?) gratefully received! I’m going to take a stab at thinking a dusty look will look good on this as well.

(I hope i have posted this in the right place, if not please Mods, remove it) Hello Everybody, first time posting pictures of my Model Dioramas here, and looking at what everybody else has posted i feel a bit intimidated😬 netherless here we go🙌 Bit of background first, ive done some basic modelling in the past but this was the first time i had bought and built a model tank with a setting in mind. Looking at the real life tank online after purchasing it on a whim, i saw that it was in a desert environment, and i wanted to replicate it. In the end i have it in a diorama that i am kind of happy with and it also kickstarted the need to do more!(2 more have been done since this, with one more in process) The Model is a Tamiya Merkava 1:35 Israeli Main Battle Tank Mk 1, though I've binned the box so i cant remember if it was a Mk1 or not. For the diorama base i used a insulation foam board which i melted the ruts into(slightly a bit out of size tbh) and to fill i used a mix of plaster of Paris and Sculptamold along with rock moulds. Hi there. After now almost doing the afv club Tiger I need some other afv to not get too "boxy" with the box tanks. I had the Takom Chieftain Mk2 in the making. Now carried on with base coating the lower hull and wheels and started on the turret details. Overall the detail in the kit is fantastic. The fit of the parts is almost good.
