  1. A further hunt through the stash uncovered a couple of boxings of Mark 1's Starfighter kit, this one was entitled In Europe and contains a couple of single seat variants. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr
  2. I finished this little Mark 1 kit of the HS 748 last weekend as part of the Australia and New Zealand Group Build. The kit was built as it comes in the box with some scratch detail added like the APU housing on the starboard starboard engine and the addition of a couple of missing aerials. The GB was also dedicated to fellow Britmodeller Silver Fox who had passed encouraging comments on several of my builds previously, so there is a little nod in tribute to that fine gent who will be sadly missed. 3. I'm going to join on with this little guy. Not my usual scale but the moulding on this is nice and crisp. And it should be a lot more straightforward than my previous battle royale with the Magna Sea Devon. Four options provided, and I was tempted by both the true Junglie green 707 Squadron and the 771 Squadron SAR cab but the 60's camouflage Wessex's from Albion and Bulwark always invoke my childhood. I always recall the black and white pictures in the Royal Navy magazine my school library used to have. Happy days. I do like the 'Versatile Helicopter ' branding on the box. Says it all about the Wessex. The variants in the box Don't know why it's upside down. Probably Photobucket on one of its usual meltdowns. Here is the gratuitous sprue shot and instructions I'll see if I can sort out the pictures later. But enough of talk and pictures let's get modelling.
  4. I don't know if this has been announced here previously but three 1:144 versions of the Beaufighter are due to be issued in June by Mark 1 Models. These should be a welcome addition for WW2 British aircraft modellers. Mike
  5. Finally finished the build review on this elegant fighter. CMR have continued the variants of the Vampire / Venom range and make full use of the technology available to achieve a highly detail result. The build review can be found HERE. On the whole, the kit goes together very well. Some care and fettling was required along the fuselage seem and front wheel bay as well as applying the vast amount of tiny parts, but most of my set backs were own goals being the plonka I sometimes am !!!! Whilst generally speaking, the CMR kits are more pricey than your mainstream kits, you do get everything needed; beautifully detailed resin, colured etch, vac formed canopies (in this case two of each type), paint masks and a good selection of decal options. Unfortunately, I've misplaced the wing fence etch so they're not on at the moment, but I hope you like her...
  6. Now that the bench is clear, I'll be cracking on with this with the view to putting a build review together at the end. Having made the Mistral a few months ago, I'm rather excited with it. CMR kits usually offer lots of juicy cockpit detail and this one is no exception, but with the added benefit that it's bigger than the Mistral due to being a 2 seater so there's more opportunity to see all the hard work on display ! The box... The pack that includes a full resin kit, two types of canopy and two of each incase you make a boo boo, paint masks, coloured etch and two sheets of decals, one of which is packed with stencils I'm aiming to make a start this week, so should get some more pics as the week progresses. Cheers, Neil
