Hi folks, I'm sure many have spotted the t.v advert for the Hachette partworks Mallard. Anyone planning on buying it? I saw on their webpage that it is conjunction with DJH so should be pretty good. Trouble is, it could cost as much as a grand.... I'd love an O gauge static model A4 Pacific on my mantlepiece but I'm not sure I can justify that kind of expense , even if it is spread over many months. As a comparison, a DJH A3 would cost £540:00 in today's money but you might have to buy wheels on top of that. (The A4 does n't appear on the DJH website).

Hi all this is my first railway related post. I have just gloss varnished one of my Hornby A4's 4903 Peregrine in the gorgeous LNER blue livery. She might be a railroad loco but she looks the business. I have swapped out the motion set for finer super detail versions and Glossed her up so she looks to me more "real" like shes made out of metal. I am very happy with how she now looks and thought I would share her with you. I hope you like her. Here she is outside curing off in the afternoon sun. Cheers Rob So there she is thanks for looking. I took da boy to see the A-4 engine Union of South Africa as it passed through a local station the other week, and he loved it to bits - not at all scared of the steam & whistle noises, even though we were stood right next to it as it left. I've been scouting around to find a static model of the class that I could build as a memento for him, but not found anything yet that isn't designed to be used on a proper layout, so the cost is prohibitive. Does anyone do a plastic kit of the thing along the lines of the Dapol (ex-Airfix) kits? It seems an important class of engine to be un-kitted, but I just can't find anything in between the Hornby & Graham Farish gubbins Can any kind soul help out?
