This is inspired by @Sabrejet's series of photographs from 1985 & '86, particularly the one of John Watson in Lauda's #1 Mclaren MP4/2b.
I totally lost interest in F1 around 1982/3, didn't even read race reports, cut it out completely so until seeing that photo I wasn't aware that Wattie was recalled by Mclaren to drive in the 1985 European Grand Prix.
Wattie was a bit of a hero driver for me in the Seventies, mainly because like me he had a beard! 🤣
So I would like to build his/Nikki's car in my preferred 1/12 scale, the MP4 is unknown territory for me (purely Seventies F1 cars for me until now) so is carbon fibre chassis and turbo's were only blowing up in Renaults!
Thus my question is, can I backdate the Italeri/Protar MP4/2c kit without too much angst?
I have asked the same question on the F1M forum and been surprised by the lack of response, I imagined someone else would have done this in the past.
I've looked at pictures and websites and ascertained the rear wing is different, there's a turbo intake (?) in the side pod and Wikipedia says the /2c had cleaned up aerodynamics from the /2b. But is that it? Anyone know?
