  1. Hello everyone, I would like to present my latest build from Eduard, MIG-21M Czech Air Force, 1992. I have really struggled to take good photos of the shine metallic surface. Hope you like it. Ales
  2. I present to you the Academy MiG-21bis (MF in Academy`s own words) in 1/48, which I finished about 7 years ago, for the purpose of recovering after the Academy's MiG-29 in 1/48 (absolute agony of kit). I have nothing new to say about the model itself... Very good model, with a great fit and decent level of details, but declassified by Eduard's 21s. The color is HU127 and the decals from Lift here. I mixed the colors of the wheels but the green turned out to be much darker in the pictures than in nature. Fast paint job with weathering done only by the preshading technique. The plane itself is the one before the overhaul, which took part in some maneuvers in Yugoslavia (Ĺ umadija, beginning 80 ... for example, sorry if I made a mistake) and my colleague AGO2 (from Maketarskikutak forum) gave me immense help because I had absolutely no idea about the plane itself. I presented it as if they had (and probably did) shooting tasks and therefore are 2 UB-16 launchers.
  3. Hi all, here's my entry for this GB,having only ever built Airfix's ancient 1/72 offering I'm looking forward to building my second from this superb kit,now I arrived on this earth in 1960 so grew up in three of the decades of the cold war as you might expect it was into the seventies when my interest in models and what was in the news grew so the latter stages of the Vietnam war were being played out every night on TV and Soviet aircraft were just grainy B&W photos,I remember the excitement of Viktor Balenko landing the Mig 25 at Hakodate AB in Japan the shooting down of Korean Air 007 in 1983 and finally the wall coming down at last. Ah,two massive military block's glaring at each other across half the globe itchy fingers on the nuclear button, the world seemed a much safer place back then! Anyway here's the quite large box for now.
  4. I've been stuck with the model making equivalent of writers block recently so I decided to finish a model I started a while ago to give myself a little push in the right direction. Usually the idea of a pink model with hearts on would really put me off but for some reason I actually liked this. However as soon as I started I hit problems. I applied a little too much pressure to the tiny canopy and managed to snap it clean in half. After cursing rather a lot i decided my plans would have to change. The only way to mask he issue would be to paint the canopy, and so it turned into a display model. In my imagination this MIG would be being displayed somewhere where it appears to be a little out of place. Maybe this would be in the middle of a roundabout or next to a car park or outside an entrance to somewhere. It would have a really harsh, solid looking concrete base like so many MIGs seem to be displayed on. Anyway that's the idea, here's the pictures
  5. Hello, I have finished the pencil. Lovely kit, a lot of fun. To be honest I'd buy another one and paint it in Cuban livery. I've painted with Alclad2 Aluminium and Dark Aluminium colours. Cockpit colour matched with prepainted PE parts by mixing 50/50 Gunze paints H25 and H46. Sorry for the pictures. Decided to use blue background and the sheet couldn't be ironed to desired state. I've removed bad surroundings in Photoshop:/ I'll need to invest in some proper photographic vinyl.. I hope you like it anyway! Thanks Bart
  6. Ok so I think this is one of my favourite builds so far this year and since I got back in to the hobby in 2012. It is the Academy kit - OOB with no extras and although its far from perfect I really like it. It was an easy build with no real issues and I used Tamiya paints for the camo, Alcald for the exhaust and wing pylons and Model master for the cockpit colour. I used Alcad Matte varnish to finish it off and I have to say I am becoming a big fan of their varnishes. Most of the build went according to plan although I some paint got inside the canopy (causing a lot of bad language!) and I am sure you will spot the other blunders. Overall though it is a great kit and I love this particular colour scheme. As ever i sought advice from BM during the build so thanks to those for the help/input This formed one of my Cold War 'triple build' challenge that I decided to embark on at Christmas - the others being the Airfix 1:48 Lightning and Italeri Hunter - both of which can be seen in the photo's! I consider myself a keen rookie so happy for criticism in whatever form! Chris
