This is my carefully researched Sherman orphan this particular vehicle will be E3, of 2nd Company, 32nd Armoured Battalion, 3rd Armoured Division and will be painted as she appeared in Cologne 1945. One of the first production M4A1 76's to be built by Pressed steel car she was shipped to Britain for the start of D-Day but as the American tank crews had been training on the 75's and as the Company commanders had received feedback that the 75mm gun had a superior HE round the U.S. decided they wouldn't use them and so they were offered to the British forces unfortunately we didn't want them either as we by this time were using our own upgunned version called the Firefly. The upshot was come D-Day they were left in the UK and nobody wanted them hence the nickname Orphan. Just before operation Cobra though the U.S. had encountered it's first Panthers and realised that the 76mm gun actually might be of use and so 150 or so were shipped over for the start of operation Cobra. This lovely lady survived the war and was later remanufactured for the Mutual Defense Program and served with the French for a number of years, she is now a gate guard at Camp Patton, Nehou, France. Next job is undercoat then foundry marks and numbers and i'm just turning an antenna mast for the turret.....tracks and bogies are AFV Club and the kit is the old but still good Italeri as you can see most exterior detail is scratch (although i did order a PE kit but it took so long to arrive i pushed on anyway)tools are from the Tamiya Sherman and many other small details that were particular to the Orphans. Hope you like .....Steve

Hi guys, here is a new challange with my friend Maurizio. He built this awesome tank and I Painted it. We had reproduced the M4A1 76mm named Nelson II, visible in a war photo taken during the Italian campaign 1945, while crossing a river. Here is some photos. I hope you like it. Sherman M4A1 76mm - Nelson II - Pretoria Regiment – 11th South African Brigade -6th South African Armoured Division -Italy early 1945.

ESCI/Eduard 1/72 M4A1(76)W Sherman - Completed
Speedman posted a topic in Achtung Panzer Group Build
This shall be a first for me, an armour kit bash! It all started during my Sturmpanzer IV build in Oct/Nov 2013 (The Obsolete Kit Group Build) when I happened to mention that I had bought the ESCI M4A1, and that I knew it need work to turn it into an accurate variant of the Sherman. Sgt.Squarehead advised: "If you stick a 76mm T-23 Turret on the ESCI 1/72 M4A1 it makes a decent M4A1(76)W.....I've been using Eduard Turrets from their M4A3(76)W, as you can then put the ESCI turret on the Eduard hull for a late M4A3(75)W." A few weeks later I managed to find the ProfiPack release of the Eduard M4A3(76)W going cheap on eBay, so I snapped it up and stored both away until I could find a group to build them in. The spares from this build will be used to make a pet projects I've been wanting to do since I was a kid... Oddball's Sherman! The box art for both kits. That's a LOT of parts And some very small etch. I'm going to be detailing the engine bay and having the hatch open. I prefer the sprockets and idlers on the ESCI kit. But the road wheels on the Eduard kit look better than ESCI's. Eduards track looks better as well. And I think I'll be swapping the hatches over as well. -
Hello tank fans, here is my part of the Achtung Panzer Group build. It will be Dragons M4A1 tank in 1/72 scale. Its one of the best AFV kit in my stash. The amount of delicate parts is really amazing, its also a very nice touch, that a lot of the pe parts, are supplied in plastic as well. Maybe this helps to defeat the carpet monster on this tiny Sherman :-) At first a view on the sprue parts/details (worth a look) and the instructions

Hi Guys Recently completed. Built pretty much out of the box with just a little added stowage. I didn't do any of the corrections as it was built just as an exercise to see if I still had the mojo for 1/72nd scale. Hope you like it. Regards Dave
