These two were built as part of the Less Than A Tenner group build. Both enjoyable kits to make but the Italeri one (as many people will already know) is a bit trickier due to some fit issues. The Italeri one doesn't have much cockpit wall detail so I spent some time with bits of extra plastic and fuse wire adding a range of the missing bits. The Airfix kit doesn't offer an open canopy but I felt I ought to try a make this Spitfire have one as I'd added some extra detail in this cockpit as well. Luckily I found that the spare central canopy part from the Italeri kit fitted reasonably well - with some modifications to the sides of the fuselage around the rear canopy part. Details of the work on both kits can be found in the Less Than A Tenner group build section. 1/72 Airfix Spitfire MkIIa - P8088 - March/early April 1941 (Build thread here) All Humbrol and Revell paints applied by brush. Finished with spray can Humbrol matt varnish. 1/72 Italeri Spitfire MkIX - MK 126 - 1944 (Build thread here) All Humbrol and Revell paints applied by brush. Fished with spray can Humbrol satin and matt varnish. These are only the second and third planes I've made in many, many years and I am really enjoying the learning process. I'm going to try a 1/48 Spitfire next and I'll get a WIP started soon. All comments, questions and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix

Hi guys, welcome to my GB build... the Airfix Lockheed Hudson that cost £6.00. It was originally used to look at for my Vacform kit, but I have no need for it now so it can get built now.. I'm almost certain this will be my only build for the GB, but I may try and squeeze in the Airfix (new tool) Typhoon too. to be finished OOB in 206Sqn Coastal Command colours Box shot by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr Box + sprues by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr
