Im currently building the Buff/Chamois colored D.520 seen in Lebanon in 1942. Actually there were two aircraft, #’s 302 & 397. While studying the photo’s of the two buff/Chamois colored aircraft seen in Lebanon. One (302) definitely has a broad stripe on top of the port wing. I am assuming its some sort of ID stripe as it wouldn't make much sense to camouflage these like this then add a single wide stripe to one or both wing tops ? Im not sure I can post the open photo’s. So if someone needs/wants to double check/verify my thoughts I will send the photos via D/M. Did the French have/use theater I.D. Bands on top of the wings post Vichy use ? Or were these actually camouflaged and we’ve been wrong all these years ? Please if anyone can help it would be most gratefully acknowledged. Dennis

Hello everyone … I am finally able to throw a build into the mix. I will be using the Hasegawa D.520 that was re-popped by Hobby2000 recently. Of all the pre-war/early war French fighters these are the most Attractive to my eyes. I will be doing this scheme as its been on my wants list forever. Please feel free to ask questions, post comments or add thoughts. Dennis

It's 1958 and the US Marines land in Lebanon on July 15th (until October 25th 1958) to start Peacekeeping duties. At this point I'm jsut a few months old. I shall try to depict a scene from images I'm collecting. This kit was originally destined for a Vietnam scene but this GB came up and I though ...... Why not! Finding a project that utilizes part of my existing Stash and fits the timeline for 1958 was'nt straight-forward as it was a relatively quiet yer otherwise.

My Tamiya Leclerc as seen serving with UNIFIL in Southern Lebanon, 2006. Kit was built OOB with the omission of the extra fuel tanks as per references of UNIFIL Leclercs, and the Decals are from Echelon's set; UNIFIL Leclercs, which is an excellent, well researched decal set.
