  1. Hi, Saiman 202 was am Italian WW2 liaison and trainer machine. A short run kit of Kora was released not long ago. There is a lot of decal options of that machine and it is a kind of problem. I've got one in a primary trainer livery, but later I've seem this liaison machine of co-belligerent forces and change my mind regarding the painting scheme. This makes that here decal are not from the Kora box, despite the fact, that such decals options exists by Kora... Here she is: Comments welcome Regards and have a peaceful Easters! Jerzy-Wojtek
  2. This thread was begun as part of the 2021 French Fancy II Group Build, but didn't make it in time for the closing date. Hi all, A late arrival here in the French Fancy GB, but here's my choice: the Heller Morane Saulnier MS.230. Not exactly a rara avis, I know, but nonetheless I'm hoping to have a bit of fun with it So, obligatory photos. Box top (this is the 1980 boxing): http:// Sprue shots, tooled in 1967, I think: http:// Close up of the rather excellent engine: http:// Typical Heller instructions: http:// The ancient decals have definitely seen better days, not sure that they're going to be usable, so I may have to source some replacements. Looking forward to having a go at this kit! Cheers for now, Mark
  3. I bought the FAA carrier boxing of Kora's Fairey IIIF when it was released last year as I always wanted to build this legendary inter war years aircraft. I started it at the beginning of this year and it took a bit of time, there being loads of etch, some of it unnecessary and a lot of detail, some of which was crisp and some needing a fair amount of tidying up. The colour scheme was straightforward although the fuselage band took a bit of masking and multiple coats. The transfers were nice and crisp but they're on a single sheet and each of them needs trimmed so as to minimise the amount of extraneous transfer. Not too bad for the numbers but painstaking work for the large roundels and the tailplane markings. I'm afraid I didn't do a WIP. Finished as S1475 of 440 Flight on HMS Hermes in 1933. Painted with Revell Aluminium for the fabric, Xtracrylix Silber for the metal parts and Revell matt black for the decking. Straight OOB. If there's a next time I think I would rig it too.
  4. For this group build I will be doing the Vickers 432. An aircraft originally intended to hunt at high altitude enemy intruders. Unfortunately, for Vickers it was not a successful aircraft. I have been obsessed with this aircraft since the mid 90s and even turned a wooden plug, with the vain hope of vac forming over it. Here you see it in comparison the the resin Kora fuselage that I will be using for my build. My first source was Aeroplane Monthly, March 1992 that really got me excited about the subject. I reckon I must have scaled up the general arrangement drawing from the Putnam book on Vickers to give a shape for my wooden fuselage. Here you see displayed on a page of Tony Buttler's " British experimental combat aircraft of WW II". The box art is a bit 'pony', but I hope to make a half decent job of the kit. Big question, What colour was the topside ? Dark Green and Dark Earth or Oceon Grey and Dark Green (or whatever the Grey/green camouflage was ?) Answers on a postcard
  5. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 Hasegawa Junkers Ju-88 T-3, the last reconnaissance version of this type. I modified the Hasegawa kit (02073) which represents a T-1, to T-3 standard by swapping the BMW radials for Jumo inline engines. Some Hasegawa Ju-88/188 kits contain both engines, and I had left overs from a previous build. The paint scheme was taken from a color profile in the KORA decal set (https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/KORCS7247?result-token=PzZIM) "Junkers Ju-88 T-3 Conversion". I have seen no original photograph of this aircraft (although one alledgedly exists in a Manfred Griehl book), so the colors chosen are speculative. According to KORA instructions, this aircraft belonged to 3.(F)/33, based in Sorkifalud, Hungary in winter 1944/45. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. The model was built mostly from the box, with the addition of home-made seatbelts from tape, resin wheels from True Details and a metal tip for the pitot tube, because the plastic was warped. In case you wonder how I did the the camouflage pattern, here's the trick. I sprayed the top surfaces RLM70 Black Green, then laid out a web of sausages from MRP Masking Putty before applying the final color RLM76 Light Blue. Here's a snapshot from one of my first masking attempts: The black sticky sausages can be pulled off the surface once the color has dried. They do not leave any residues or react with the paint. MRP Putty has better adhesion than Blu Tac/Uhu Tac, but you have to press it to the surface to make it stick. I gave the black undersides a wash with white artists oils to make it look less dull. The drop tanks were chipped to give them a worn appearance. For this task, I used Vaseline, apllied with a sponge, to create wear & tear. The creme can be wiped off with a wet cloth once the color is dry. Thank you for your interest in this topic, best greetings from Vienna! Roman
  6. Hey all! Today I have a question about the FW-44 in Brazilian service. After finishing my Model 256, I've decided it needs a friend to share the skies with, and I've settled on Kora's cute little FW-44. The problem is that I can only find one photo of the type - a museum piece. I trust that Kora got their info right, but they have made mistakes before, so I wondered if anyone might know where I could find more photos of the type, and specifically of Brazilian examples. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and Stay Healthy, Tweener
  7. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my latest, the 1/72 KORA Fw-190 F9 Panzerblitz. This version was the last variant of the famous "Butcher Bird", armed with unguided anti-tank aerial rockets. These rockets were similar to the R4M Orkan air-to-air rocket used by the Messerschmitt Me 262. The kit contains the well-known Eduard sprues (for the A-8 version), some resin and photo-etch add-ons plus a decal sheet for 4 marking options. I painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics, according to instructions, as I could not find an original photograph of this particular aircraft. The pitot tube is a metal item from Master. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thank you for your interest and comments, best greetings from Vienna Roman
  8. Hi All, I hope I can build this subject this year. There are couple others before in pipeline and I have some questions related to topic. D-AFFT was quite special plane. It was operated by Hansa Luftbild and this was basically unit to get intel information outside Germany before war. This plane crashed in Helsinki Malmi airport 1.10.1939 and crashed plane was returned quietly back to Germany. My first question is: Was this plane carrying cameras and if so where those were located? Second is: Should I use Revell kit as a starting point or Kora conversion set? Scan is from Suomen ilmailuhistoriallinen Lehti 2/1996
  9. Kora has just released a 1/72nd Messerschmitt Bf.109G family - in fact reboxing from the AZmodel Bf.109G kits (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234948834-172-messerschmitt-bf109g-k-families-by-azmodel-released-g-1g-2tropg-6trop-release-january-2016/) + bonus. 10. Hello everyone. This is Messerschmitt Bf 109G-12 Yugoslav version, 15/9615, 83 Fighter Regiment, Yugoslav Air Force, Cerklje airfield, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, 1948-49. 1:72 AZ Model kit with Kora resin conversion set. Following the Second World War, Yugoslavia received some standard two-seater Bf 109G-12s from Bulgaria. Needing more, they converted a couple of one-seaters. This conversion visually differs from the original G-12 in the rear cockpit section where an Erla Haube canopy was used instead of the special G-12 rear canopy. As soon as I found out about this variant I went looking for options to make it and found a Kora resin conversion set with decals. This set was meant for a Fine Molds kit but I used an AZ Model kit from the blank 3-kit pack instead. This of course meant more work to get both to come together but in the end I managed and it came out nicely. Paint and varnish all applied by brush. This is the last 1:72 kit I've built so far (I build mostly in 1:144 nowadays) and I completed it last year. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome. Miguel
  11. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 KORA Focke Wulf Fw-190 F9 "Panzerblitz". The kit features Eduard's plastic sprues for an A-8 (some modification on the lower wings is required), a bag of resin bombs and rockets, three small photo-etch frets and a decal sheet. The bombs and rockets are not better than the plastic parts from the Eduard F8 kit. I had a left-over weapons sprue from a F8, so they were duly replaced. A small photo-etch frame supplies seat belts and pedals, but no instrument panel. Instrument panels are provided as black/white paper print-outs only. The second frame holds the ventilators - both 12 and 14 blade are provided. The rocket rails are supplied as a photo-etch assembly on the third frame. I struggled to get everything folded straight and in line, so the rails were substituted with the Eduard plastic part as well. In the end I only used the photo-etch part for the small fairing just ahead of the rocket racks. The four decal options are very interesting, the decals themselves of very good quality. They are printed on a continuous carrier film and have to be cut out individually. I noticed that this kit was not very well received within the BM community (have a look here): I understand that the price tags of some distributors may put some modelers off. I had the chance to grab a couple of the KORA boxings at Eastern European model shows, directly from the manufacturer, sold for a price marginally above the regular Eduard kit. If you really want to have a Fw-190 F9 (and can't wait until Eduard release their version) this is the only game in town. The only other contender is the Hasegawa kit, which is already hard to find. According to my research, only a few Schlachtgeschwader used Panzerblitz weapon systems operationally in spring 1945: SG 1, SG 3, SG.10 and SG 77. My model represents a machine of one of those units. I painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics and weathered with artist's oils. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thanks for your interest, best greetings from Vienna! Roman
  12. Because Doozer wanted to see more ;-) here´s a second and last model for today in an unusual rare scheme that you may find interesting. The Model shows an a/c that flew with 1/2 Szturmowi Orliak in September 1944. At this time Bulgaria had already changed sides and fought with the Soviets against the Germans. Not 100% sure about the white ID markings but they seem plausible. The ususal yellow IDs for this area where most probably overpainted to avoid being mistaken for a Luftwaffe a/c and being shot down by the Russians. Used a Hasegawa kit. The decals are a mixture of Kagero, Kora and LF Model. The last two ones aren´t the best but workable. The missing pilot headrest was done with a part from the spares box, the raised wing walkways were done with plastic stripes. The add-on armour on the pilot fuselage sides were done with plastic sheet. The inner canopy frames were done with grey isolation/electrical tape. Also added some plastic sheet to the lower frame of the pilo´ts sliding canopy so that it overlaps the fuselage and looks more like the original, the Hasegawa canopy isn´t completely correct. Painted with Gunze and Tamiya acrylics, EZ-Line was used for the antenna wire. Kagero´s Ju87 Vol.III book was used as reference. Hope you like it, cheers, Reinhard and Franz

  14. I've long wanted to do a recce version of the Bf109 with two tanks under the wing, but have lacked knowledge of various details. When I saw the new Kora release of the AZ Bf109G I noticed that the boxart showed a pipe going back from the rear of the engine running underneath the centre-section. OK, I thought, this guy has done his research, I'll buy the kit. It arrived today (good service Hannants) but the instructions and parts show no sign of this pipe. So where does it go to, and is there another on the other side? What does it look like at the other end? I'm guessing that it could be water to clean the lens of the camera, but I'm not convinced.
