  1. Here's my 1/144 Embraer 170, from a Karaya boxing of the Hasegawa kit. Nice little kit to get the mojo going. Decals were nice (Finnair decals were also included) but had a few inaccuracies - for example, the Alitalia Express titles were also closer to 1/72 than 1/144 which meant the ones that were supposed to go on the engine nacelles went on the fuselage, and there was nothing suitable for the nacelles. The Alitalia titles should also be black, not green. But overall I can overlook these small deficiencies, and I'm pretty happy with this one. thanks for looking Julian
  2. The first half of my modelling year has been pretty badly disrupted with a few builds on the go when I broke my wrist that haven't been finished, because pretty much as soon as I'd recovered I went overseas for a month. Now that I'm back, jet lagged and in need of something simple to build to kick things off again I've chosen the Karaya Alitalia boxing of the Hasegawa 1/144 Embraer 170. Here's what's in the box, plus a small taste of the state of my workbench: A pretty simple little kit. Neatly engraved lines, no windows to worry about (there are decals for that), nice looking decal sheet with options for Alitalia and Finnair, and a nut and bolt provided for ballast. One pet peeve is moulded-on aerials, bound to break one or two of these off during the build, but the kit includes spares for when that happens. I started by assembling the fuselage and wings: Tiny amounts of filler needed, apart from that they went together fine. Might as well attach the wings to the fuselage: Tiny amounts of filler needed again, just to deal with a couple of small gaps at the leading edge of the wing root. A little bit of work with the sanding stick will be needed for the fairing, mainly behind the wing, but not too bad. I'll be painting this before long. thanks for looking Julian
  3. Dear fellow Britmodellers, this is my 1/72 SU-76M Assault Gun from manufacturer UM. Painted with Mr.Hobby acrylics. Photos by Wolfgang Rabel The UM kit is a typical short-run product with a good level of detail, including photo-etch parts. I added a metal gun barrel from RB Productions and replaced the kit's plastic towing cable with real wire from Karaya. This rather unspectacular vehicle was among the most produced Soviet armoured fighting vehicles of World War II. Thank you for your interest!
  4. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 Zvezda M4A2 Sherman in markings of the Red Army in 1944. Painted with Mr.Hobby acrylics, photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. I added stowage from Sandsmodels and BlackDog, steel towing cable from Karaya, photo-etch brushguards for headlights from Dan Taylor Modelworks and antenna from stretched sprue. Thank you for your interest, best greetings from Vienna! Roman
  5. Hello all, I’m looking forward to having fellow travellers again on this long journey of mine ... Hopefully you can tolerate me still doddering on with this one! I have a long-running build thread over here ... ... but I propose transferring the tortured narrative back over here for the duration, taking up Enzo’s offer to roll-over builds from the last floatplane group build. My current status, in summary: A collection of subassemblies - including the requisite floats - primed in white ... ... since embellished with a flourish of blue to the fuselage spine ... ... & most recently, back in the tailplane jig after accidentally snapping off the starboard stabiliser - sigh! So, I’m hoping there’s an outside chance I might finish this time around. We shall see ...
  6. Polish rumours: 1/48th and 1/72nd PZL M-18 Dromader kits in design. Source: https://www.facebook.com/Answerkits/photos/a.531958733954802/582640225553319/ V.P.
  7. Hooray, Hooray I'm underway, here begins my first BM Work in Progress post! I have this last week just started on this Crusader. Nothing to show in this post, but more to follow very soon. For now, a test first image: All going well you should see a finished model - however not mine. Instead, as the caption says, it's a photo of Short's original wind tunnel model. I hope it inspires you as it did me! If not, then I defy you to tell me this wonderful drawing does not excite: All going well, more soon ... g.
  8. Hi folks, I'll be getting the ball rolling with this Short Crusader; The Short Crusader was built to compete in the 1927 Schneider Trophy competition. It first flew on May 4th 1927 (quelle coincidence!) , but even after several modifications it became apparent that it was going to be too slow compared to the competition so it was used as a hack for the high speed team. On 11th September Flight Officer Schofield was flying the aircraft when he lost control, the control wires to the ailerons had been cross fitted so when he tried to correct a roll, he span into the sea at 150mph. Schofield was thrown clear suffering bad bruising but miraculously no broken bones. The aircraft was recovered a week later when the crossed wire issue became apparent.
