Werknummer 494230, T6+HM seen below on downwind. I wanted to capture the dusty, weathered look of these aircraft at the front. The olde FROG kit from 1968, F-195. Looking at this kit in the stash over the years, I've always been impressed how cool this looked with the raised panel lines, the rivets, the overall shape, even the razor sharp trailing edges of the flying surfaces are all aspects FROG captured really well. I added aftermarket cannon barrels, a Falcon canopy and a resin cockpit. Old aftermarket decals for the markings, werknummer and codes are my own press-type on clear decal, the rest is out of box as I wanted it as much FROG as I could. This build was also a test mule for the MMP Luftwaffe colors. MMP paints were used exclusively, color coats, clear coats, all weathering. I had no problems, I'm pleased with the results and will continue using them. The cannons are such a big part of this aircraft, I detailed those to busy them up some. Not perfect but good. The Falcone canopy was extremely hard to work with because it is so thin. I spent a day framing and another whole just attaching it. All in all, I'm pleased with this. I wish I had paid closer attention and studied photos better. The yellow fuselage band is too wide, by about half, and I think the "HM" on the port side would all be on green. I was copying an artist illustration, not looking more closely at a photo. There is a lot of life left in this old FROG kit. With just some basic additions, the old kit cleans up well and looks pretty close to modern, more expensive issues of the Ju-87G. 1968, who would have thunk it....- 17 replies

I thought I’d post this as a separate WIP Seeing as how I failed miserably to make the STGB deadline but still wanting to show off the build. Special hobby 1/48 JU87A in Japanese markings hence the K which was used for all export aircraft. Pretty straightforward build, had to fettle the resin to get it in. Destroyed the supplied canopy so had to make a new one . Which brings us up to date ready for masking and the next camo colour.- 21 replies

I really wanted to enter this GB for two reasons - 1) I'm a big fan of all things luftwaffe - especially the Stuka and 2) despite this - I don't have a Stuka in my builds so far and wanted to rectify this. I did have the following kit in my stash so thought this would be the perfect chance to get it built: I'm still debating on which version I'll do - I'm swaying towards the standard splinter camo version rather than the North Africa scheme but let me know if you have any preference to help me decide. Here's where I'm up to after making a start today: Hopefully start to get some paint on the cockpit tomorrow and then keep making progress

Hi guys, So this will be my next build hasegawa's 1/48 JU87-R2 which I believe is a extended range version of the B2 the only difference being two external fuel tanks. If that's not true then please correct me because I'm thinking of just doing a B2. The reason being because the 1994 decals don't look great and there's more options for B2 schemes. If anyone has some desert or winter schemes that are a bit different that they could share images of I would be most grateful so am open to suggestions. The kit looks ok I know there are some issues with the flap mass balancers or arms (one of the two) so am ready for that, and I will be showing it with the Aires resin engine and cockpit set which looks nice, there will no doubt be a bit of scratch and may even open it up a bit more but we'll see. It won't be a quick one I dare say. Thanks for looking. Phil -
My first work in progress in which I’ll be using Vallejo Model Air paints that I’ve just switched over to. For this I’ve plucked the Airfix Stuka from the stash. I’ve never built a Stuka before, so I’m really looking forward to this one. The kit kit seems well up to the usual standards Airfix are setting with their new release kits. There’s no flash, and all the mouldings seem very clean and crisp. The clear sprue also seems very impressive. I’m going to build this straight out of the box, a nice quick build while another kit is on hold waiting for the right paint to arrive.

Okay, here we go, first time post of my most recent build. I hope this works. I didn't think much of the two schemes that came specified with the kit itself, so I decided to give it a generic desert camo finish instead. Oh, and here's a link to a short video showing some build-pics

I've started this one over a year ago and finally have the time to finish but here it is. Somewhere in Russia, probably just before the Battle of Kursk. The models used: Heinkel He 111 H-6 - Revell 1/72 Ju 87G-2 Stuka 'Kanonen Vogel' - Academy 1:72 Kubelwagen and Kettenkrad from the Academy 1/72 WWII Ground Vehicle Set Figures from Preiser and Revell The 'making of' thread is available here. Hello Finally I had some time to continue the work on my Ost-Front scene. I've finished the models some time ago: Ju 87G-2 Stuka 'Kanonen Vogel' and Heinkel He 111 H-6. Both in 1:72 scale. Now it's the time to build the diorama for them. The plan is something like that: So, here is what I've done so far: Ju 87G-2 Stuka 'Kanonen Vogel' from Academy Heinkel He 111 H-6 from Revell Perspex box base with both of them arranged: Some SC250 bombs from Czech Masters (6) and one left from Messerschmitt Bf-109 kit: Some SC1000 bombs. Four again from Czech Masters and two from the Heinkel kit. They are a little bit bigger. Not sure which are in correct scale but I've decided to use all of them. The sledges to transport the bombs I've made from matches. Cut, glued, filed, airbrushed, drybrushed and finally weathered with washes. Here is how they look with the bombs: And finally Kettenkrad to tow the sledges and Kubelwagen for pilots (who are not ready yet). Both from Academy kit. The diorama will have some boxes, barrels etc. plus of course ground crew servicing the planes and the pilots resting and waiting for the mission. Thanks for watching.

Hi all Some pics of my first completed build for 2017, Hasegawa 1/48 Desert Snake Stuka. Only modifications were plastic wedges on ailerons replaced with actuators in brass plus Eduard seatbelts & gunsight. The mould has been reboxed many times and is showing it's age a bit now with more flash to be removed but still well worth the effort in the long run. Thanks for looking- 23 replies

Hi everyone. Just wanted to show you recently finished model. A Hasegawa 1/48th scale Stuka bomber. As usual couple words about the kit first. It was quite old kit, but as you can expect from this manufacturer still nicely moulded and detailed. One downside was the decals. They were yellowish after all those years. I didn't pay any attention to it until I reached the level when I had to put them on.. Followed the advices online, I left them in the window for couple days, in the nights for couple hours left them in the UVB light. Still a bit yellowish I was desperate to finish it, so put them on and.. well, most of the yellow tint disappeared! MAGIC:) Seatbelts homemade with masking tape and a bit of wire. Used only Eduard masks and swastikas by ExtraDecals. Build was going fine until the very last things to do.. While matt-varnishing it, Stuka Diving (important word) Bomber took his first dive into the ground, The pilot didn't manage to pull up and the aircraft crashed quite badly.. Fortunately I found all the pieces and left the german engineers do the work and there it is two days later: Enjoy! Thanks! Bart

Hello all One of my recent builds - Italeri's Stuka in 1/48. Built out of the box, with just a Montex mask to assist with the canopy (which would have driven me nuts to do myself with tape) and a bit of EZ line for the aerial. Generally happy with the result, although I had a couple of issues, more down to my limited skills than the kit I suspect. I was originally planning to pose it with the engine partially exposed, as the kit had a decent looking engine included, but just couldn't get it lined up properly to have the engine cowls on one side, so ended up covering it up completely. Also, had a bit of trouble with the bomb release mechanism, so the main bomb is just stuck on... Painted with Tamiya acrylics, weathered with a Flory dark dirt wash and a flattened finish with Vallejo Matte Medium. Anyhow, to the pictures. Thanks for looking. Adam

1/72 Italeri Ju87B Canopy Paint masks - are there any?

All, I have seemed to become a bit of a Canopy mask addict - that is I find it difficult to think about starting 'said' kit until I have an AM Canopy Mask on hand. I've come across 1/72 Stuka Canopy masks for the Fujimi kit, however cannot seem to find one for the Italeri model. I find this quite odd, as I would have thought that the Italeri kit is more widely available than the Fujimi offering. Anyway - on second thoughts, has anyone tried the Fujimi masks on the Italeri kit? - Do they fit OK? Cheers .. Dave. -
I'm building the airfix 1/72 Stuka. Any experts out there on the correct RLM colours for the Interior, Upper splinter pattern and lower surfaces??? I'm having a crack at the Italian 239a 97 Gruppo Squadriglia 1941 version but pretty sure they just had the original German camo with Italian insignia. Any help greatly appreciated Cheers

I received my next kit in the post a couple of days ago; the Italeri Junkers Ju87 B/R Stuka in 1/72 scale. I ordered it from eModels.co.uk, and was on offer at only £8.56; a very good price for a nice kit. Here is the box: The kit has 2 main sprues: With instructions, decal sheet and clear sprue: The kit looks great, with not much flash and nice detail on the mouldings. The lower wing is in one piece, so it will hopefully make for a straightforward build. Parts such as the tail wheel are moulded onto the fuselage too, which is useful. I try to try out different tools and methods with each build, so this time I will be trying Humbrol Liquid Poly. I was getting tired of the needle of my poly cement getting clogged up. I will also be trying MicroSol and MicroSet for the decals; and I also ordered a sheet of swastikas to make things more authentic: I will make a start on the build this evening.
