  1. I shall be building this Tin Lizzy But I also like this Thin Lizzy ( the joke in the naming of the band BTW was that as a lot of my compatriots pronounce their th’s as t’s, it’s also tin Lizzy) I love these instructions. A quick plan comparison, shoes it’s very accurate in shape. The detailing isn’t bad for a kit if it’s age ( raised rivets and panel lines, but I’ll live with them) and aside from the sparse interior not a bad kit overall.
  2. Pretty much oob except for the colour scheme. Looks nice on the shelf.
  3. Hi, I have had an idea to build this 'What If' for quite a few years now but I never got around to it... however my club voted to make our club display at next years Southernn Expo show a What If theme so there are no excuses not to build it.... My original idea came about while I was modelling and researching aircraft of the Irish Air Corps.... I noticed that the IAC allocate a simple code for each of their aircraft with each new batch issued the next available number... Twelve Hawker Hurricane mk.I's were ordered for the Irish Army Air Corps in 1940 but were not delivered due to a wartime embargo imposed by the British Government. Eleven Hurricane Is were eventually delivered to the Air Corps, from surplus R.A.F. stocks, between July 1943 and March 1944. The Hurricane mk.I's were the first monoplane fighter aircraft to enter service with the Air Corps and was also the first aircraft capable of reaching 300 m.p.h. in level flight. These aircraft were issued with the serial no.'s 103 to 114 but the serial no.113 was never allocated. What If.... in the final days of the war in Europe a lone Me 262 made it to neutral Eire where it was pressed into service with the Irish Air Corps... the new recruit would be issued with the serial 113. Here is a sketch of that Irish Messerschmitt Me 262 'Schwalbe' in the new post war livery which would later be applied to the IAC Vampires.... Ireland's first Silver Swallow. So on to the build.... I picked up this 1/48 Monogram kit at this years Expo Kit is good and bad in equal measure... but on the whole It is fine....
  4. Recently finished three of these using the limited edition IAC markings included with the standard kit by one of our LHS, the 4th Fouga(220) was completed with one of the Maxdecal IAC sets from a a couple of years ago. Hope you like them
  5. When a member of our club put up list of his, no longer wanted, kits for sale and when I saw two 1/48 Learjets 35/36 for more than reasonable price, I had an idea... Learjet 45 used by the Irish Air Corps is not available in a kit form in 1/48 scale and there are three options if you want to have it: - Wait - Scratch build it - Convert it from something I thought that it would be cool to have one of the civvies between my camouflaged stock and I didn’t want to wait, I wouldn’t be too confident in aircraft scratch building and those two kits from Hasegawa and Testors were so tempting. This build will be a long run and I will not be too fussy about a milimeter missing here or two there or some wrong curve here, I don’t even know if I will finish it at all, but I thought that I’ll give it a go and as long as the final model will look like Learjet 45, that’ll do me. Armed with basic drawings and overall dimensions, I have scaled these to 1/48, printed out and started chopping the fuselage. First 3 parts, then 6, then 8 and 2 parts taken from Testors kit and some extra bits: Bellow is the original Hasegawa part - already cut First half from the inside, with reinforcements and remedied mistakes. Second half should be much cleaner, now when I know...
