  1. In 2024-2025, HobbyBoss is to release 1/48th Focke-Wulf Fw.190A Würger kits - ref. 81781 - Focke-Wulf Fw.190A-6 Würger - ref. 81782 - Focke-Wulf Fw.190A-8 Würger V.P.
  2. Another addition to my RAF 50s / 60s collection, a nice straightforward build of the Hobbyboss Easy Kit F-86F Sabre modelled as an RAF F.4 from No. 3 Squadron. (Please don't ask if it's got the correct wing! Haha) No dramas in the build apart from trying to get a decent match for the dark sea grey as I forgot what I'd used before! Ended up with Vallejo Model Color in the end (after 3 previous coats of incorrect colours), with Mr Hobby for the green and Vallejo Model Air for the PRU blue. Left it clean with no weathering this time but think I'll add some panel wash to the next one as it looks a bit plain. Decals from the excellent Modeldecal sheet which I had lying around for about 30 years! Some of the decals unfortunately had lots of yellow residue that had to be washed off, and a bit of decal film on some of the items but overall not bad considering their age. Thanks for looking and comments, tips and criticism as always is appreciated And next to its eventual replacement........
  3. Hi folks. Another Hobbyboss Bf109 rolls of the production line, this time a G10 modelled in an unusual scheme of RLM83 (81 Green), RLM 76 and Natural metal, from Jg51 at the end of the war. Paints from Mr Hobby, decals from AIMS sheet late war Bf109s. Minimal weathering using mig ammo panel wash and Tamiya powders, but dark green is a really difficult one to weather... do you go black or grey panel lines? In the end I went for a grey bit still not sure it's enough. I'm not great at weathering to be honest...so best leave it to those that are! Hope you enjoy, as always comments and tips appreciated. Cheers and stay safe. 👍 (ps apologies its a G10 not G6... topic edited 😉)
  4. Another one finished from the SoD (Shelf of Doom) . This is the 1/72 HobbyBoss TA-7C finished with resin Stencil seats from Pavla, wing tanks from Freightdog Models and parachute housing from Quickboost. The decals are from Xtradecal and paints from Xtracrylix and Tamiya. The canopy is not wide enough for the cockpit so extra plastic strips was used to fill in the gap. Regards Robert
  5. Im About to start the Hobbyboss WZ-10, I Will be posting pictures of it WIP and when its done. P
  6. No 6 for 2019 : Hobbyboss base kit with spare Revell decals. Paints were Mr Color and Alclad as usual. This was a paid for build for a pilot friend and after he texted pix to other airline buddies, I’ve got orders for 4 more. That should make a dent in my bar bill for my upcoming trips to Milan and Cadiz. Interestingly my actual physical build time was 5.5 hours including the new angled stand. The next ones will be the actual Revell kit of which I’ve just scored five at a knockdown price, I thought I’d make one for myself for a change! I’ve had a few comments about no pilots, no weathering/open canopies etc. It’s down to who you build for: The folks who like and buy my stuff don’t care about microscopic etch, weathering, rivet perfect accuracy, etc. All of them are non-modellers, not interested in aviation history and most are real life pilots like me (sadly lapsed). To me and them, this brings back memories of a glorious sunny day at Goodwood as we watched the utterly charming Ben Westoby –Brooks chucking this Tiffie around in perfect blue skies with carefree abandon. I was never a fan of the Typhoon but looking at this, I have to say it’s a good looking, beautifully proportioned little plane that no doubt packs a serious punch. The British can do lovely lines on aircraft like no other; elegant is the word that comes to mind. The HB kit has accuracy issues as you would expect for a “snap tite”, worst is the overlong IRST fairing which means the pilot name decal is in the wrong place- it should line up with the slime lights. Revell left out the multiple grey lines for the wings, fin and airbrake which were sprayed decal film cut accurately with my Cricut Air 2. An interesting effect was using a black sharpie on the IRST tracker (a silica gel bead ground in half), it has the shimmery purple black effect the real ones have. The HUD was Hasegawa holofilm and I should have left the top circular. I struggled with this a bit due to a bit of trolling on another part of the form which temporarily sucked the joy out of making models, but that’s passed. Sadly the online world will always be a magnet for said folk, it best to just avoid the places they frequent. Because of that, I’m, taking a break from WIPs etc. as apart from the time, I feel a need to do other real world things, like flying, travel a bit more and playing jazz. There few more RFIs coming up but apologies if I don’t reply to any comments or questions immediately, I’m only logging once or twice a week if at all for a few months as a detox. Now to get ready for the arrival of @Nigel Heath, its my birthday and drink will be taken… Thanks for looking, have fun and stay safe, Anil WIP
  7. A quickie to test Alclad, fourth finish of the year. Changed the photosetup a little and started futzing about with softboxes , looks a bit better...As is my current thing, everything is brand new, shiny and very pilotless. The kit is simple and has a mixture of good details and strange quirks as you'd expect for a £7 kit, for those interested there's an RFI here. Onto the pix:
  8. Right then, we have moved house after working our backsides off for weeks. The there was all the sorting out, that awful real life stuff that gobbles up modelling time. But now....... The Hobbyboss Mi-24 Hind D is a scale down of Trumpeter's 1/35th model I believe, and it has some lovely detail. It has some juicy problems too, like the huge mould seam along the middle of the canopy (more on that later) and the aerials being moulded on the fuselage halves which makes for an oddly shaped seam which may be awkward when it comes to filling the gap; not that there is much of a gap when I dry fit. Anyway, some pics. The model will have the Eduard etch and Linden Hill decals for the Afghan Air Force markings: The cockpit doesn't really need any photoetch, the detail is quite good. This does illustrate that the parts have some chunky sprue gates though - as well as the moulding tags: To say the locations for the interior parts are 'positive' is a bit like saying the pyramids are impressive or Warren Buffet isn't short of a bob or two: I have primed the interior parts ready for their interior blue-green and detailing. More to follow...
  9. This is my first completion of the year, the Hobbyboss 1/72 AW Seahawk FGA6. I really enjoyed this build, it had enough challenges to be interesting without being a drain on my Mojo. I added a Pavla resin seat, exhausts from Quickboost and some wire for the aeriels and pitot. Painted using Mr Hobby acrylics, I think the EDSG is too dark but couldn't be bothered to strip it back. Decals are from Xtradecal.
  10. Just finished this one, it is my first modern jet in many years. I always had a passion for the vietnam era, because of the nice camo schemes. Kit made OOB in all respects. cheers Jes
  11. Here is my completed Lynx HAS 3 ICE, its the Hobbyboss 1/72 kit with Pavla undercarriage set and rotor blades, decals came from the Modelart set, not the greatest kit I have ever done but not the worst anyway enjoy. And a picture with one of its Antarctic predecessors the Whirlwind
