Irrational to start a KUTA thread for a kit this big, as there's only ten days left - unless we get an extension - and enough KUTA threads already for one man. But. For a long while I have felt the desire to get back to painting something in RLM 65/70/71 scheme. As there's no GB in the horizon, where I could build a proper Luftwaffe bomber this year, π, I must leave my four Junkereses, two Dorniers and a Heinkel rest in pieces. All kits bought after the WW2 Twins GB we had last year . Their time will come! Luckily, on my shelf of shame is this bigger Heinkel, the 177 A-5 Greif, that I started in the Bombers/ground attack etc GB three years ago. Today I got reacquainted with the kit, it's instructions and where did I leave it back then. I started by attaching the navigator's cupola base, a pair of bomb bay doors and ended up first joining the port wing halves together and the attaching the wing to the fuselage. No IKEA-build this time Please don't ask me about the progress of the Kittyhawks or the second Me 410. Or maybe you can ask about the latter - but not the Kittyhawks V-P

Instead of cutting new plastic, I decided to add my third build from the shelf of shame. Scalemates stashmanager lists my to stash to started ratio as 35-19. Maybe I'll finish it this time and then add it to the Inspiration Gallery, or don't, but any progress I can make is definitely for the better. Here's where I left the big buddy way back when: V-P

Dropped the whole model building hobby for five weeks, being seriously addicted to following heroic but sad news from πΊπ¦. Slava Ukraini! Had time to re-think my approach to building them American bombers too. Something bugs me in having to somehow hack and slash everyone of my builds, even though the oob kits would be good enough. Hey, first de-staggering an Airfix kit and then staggering a Revell kit waist made our son ask me what's the point? Indeed. So I took a break from them. I did some shopping, though, and used the gift card got from dear Mrs.V-P to a hobby shop to buy two more ICM πΊπ¦ Dorniers and something from π΅π±... yes π΅π± I took them all home from the PO today, had a look at them, and then decided to go quickly back to my workbench with the big Heinkel! I'm now on page 2 of the actual assembly instructions, having cemented 20 little cockpit parts together. I will not take or show pics of them, though, before I brush mouse gray paint all over it. I think I'm back, my friends, this will be a nice three week push before the Dorniers GB begins! V-P

Good afternoon fellow modellers! After a visit to a well known airshow last month and foolishly walking into the amazing pop-up model stalls that appear on those days, I made a bit of a mistake... Overcome by nostalgia, and with my Old Man edging me on, I picked up Airfix's He 177 'Greif', fully complete and in 1970's boxing for a reasonable twenty quid. Now... this is where the fun began (but honestly what more did I expect?!). I've spent hours upon hours on her so far from completely reworking the cockpit, with bulkheads, control panels, new seats with milliput padding, through to sanding the entire thing down removing all raised panel lines and rivets then re-scribing the whole bloody lot! There is still a ridiculous amount of work to do and I have some issues I hope you can help me resolve. First up, the clear glass in these ancient moulds are horrendous and also, through all the re-scribe work one of the 'windows' has popped through into the fuselage. PVA just didn't cut it this time does anyone have any genius ideas on how to, from the outside (!), replace the window? Secondly, does anyone know if there are replacement clear parts for these? I've looked online but haven't been able to find anything. Thanks as always, JB And for those of you interested, here she is so far:

Ho Ho Ho BM's! I have finally finished my He 177 Greif; This in an original 1970's boxed Airfix kit I picked up at Duxford's September airshow which has taken countless hours to complete... but I have to say I'm pleased with the result Highlights; Fully detailed cockpit and rear turret interior, which unfortunately you can't see as the transparencies are not that great on the 50 year old kit Landing gear and bays detailed, including adding bulkheads to the tail wheel to hide the gaps to the interior fuselage Removed all raised panel lines and rivet detail, then re-scribed and re-riveted the entire model Used the original decals but added a swastika for authenticity Matched the original colour scheme as closely as possible New technique used to create glass out of Clearfix for rear and front portholes WIP here: Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy. Comments and critique always welcomed.
