  1. Hello and welcome to my new build. I’m dedicating this one to our dear @corsaircorp . Losing his cats recently made me think about when we thought we lost Zero a day or two ago. luckily we found him hiding under a tarp in the garden. I was worried sick and only missing for half an hour so. 😩 I can’t imagine what CC is going through. 🙁 So I thought I’d build something to cheer Him up. What better than a shark mouth? 🤩🦈 So this little wonder I got it as a gift for Christmas came to mind. So without further ado , fingers crossed for finding the feline wanderers and here’s something to make you smile dear CC. The Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B by Airfix in 1/72. Shark mouth 🦈 Here’s the box. Ain’t she purdy. ❤️ and I had to share the inlay that had my subscription to AMW on it. 🤩 She comes with four solid sprews that look really nice. And one super clear sprew. Obvs I’ll be going for the top scheme. Here are the decals. Everything about this screams fun so let’s start shall we. weeeellll not quite yet. I’ll set this thread going, Update the Hind then post today’s progress on the typhoon. I hope you’ll join me for some relaxing model making. All the best chums. see y’all in a bit. Johnny.
  2. I've posted my first two "COVID builds"--the AVG P-40 and Defiant night fighter, both with shark mounts--and this was my third model since back into the hobby during the pandemic. Notice a trend? I really find those shark mouths compelling! This was a nice enough kit, but I did botch it up in a few places (somehow really glued the wings together badly and took quite a bit of sanding/filler to repair--and even then the issue with the front inner port wing is visible in some photos), and then screwed up on some of the decals (most noticeably the checkered stripe). In retrospect, I also regret not dealing with the top fuselage seam better. Still, despite the flaws, I was fairly happy with the result and enjoyed the build thoroughly. I suppose the hobby is only fun when you continue to have room for improvement? I used mostly Humbrol enamels (28 on the bottom [maybe not the best choice, although I actually like the look], 30 and 106 on top) and weathered with Tamiya panel liner and some silver paint chipping. Please enjoy, and constructive comments are welcomed by this newbie!

  4. This is Eduard sublime 48th scale Ltd Ed kit, enhanced with a resin gun bay and PE landing flaps. The figure is by Barracuda. Paints are MR.
  5. These have been built for a family member of P/O Handyside. He flew both marques and was awarded the DFC on D Day for destroying five armoured vehicles threatening to over run an allied position. The kits are a Hasegawa Hurricane with conversion, and the Typhoon the sublime Eduard Ltd Ed.
  6. Here is my 1/48 Monogram classic Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B built for the Hawker (Siddeley) Group Build. Its OOB with a few extra details, plus the addition of a spare Tamiya pilot figure. The kit decals were in a poor state so I replicated the markings in CorelDRAW and home printed, except for the small white markings and the Tiger image all of which caused me a few problems and occasion to issue forth the odd expletive I also had to hand paint the large yellow 'Fs' because I couldn't get anywhere near a dense enough print. The weathering and staining is done with oils over the decal sealing gloss coat. The general idea was a trip down memory lane and an 'Old Skool' build, so apart from the primer and the final matt coat its all hand painted, I also tried out some paint effects to try and suggest structure and break up the flat areas of colour a bit. This is a truly fun kit to build and goes together very accurately despite it's age. I would highly recommend this kit as a mojo restorer or as just some light modelling relief.
