  1. Also from last year, a build that may especially interest the British membership.} This Hart, as all harts do, loved to race. Purchased by Princess Margaret, she entered the plane in the King's Cup race of 1951 (that was cancelled), and after that in other competitions and events, some times in the company of the Hurricane seen also bellow (and that I will post after this one). The opportunity to build this racer came in the form of a set of high-quality decals produced and released by Arctic Decals. The Hawker Hart is from Amodel, and it's typical of their range: reasonably-priced, lots of parts, good detail in their masters, but in general a somewhat indifferent molding creating a bit of flash and occasionally dubious fit, making you perform a thorough cleanup session before starting. But you will get a good model if you do your homework. I have built a number of Amodel kits, showing that ultimately it's a fair deal, as long as you spend some time to get the parts sharp and clean and refine them up for a good fit. Small grumbling aside, you will need of course to de-militarize your Hart. A whole sprue of bombs and similar expendable miscellanea will go the scratchbuilding recycling department to become something better. Then a few external features will have to be modified. There are photos on the Net showing this racer with and without a faired cover for the aft position, so it's up to you. Surely it didn't race with a guy on the back of the pilot, though, so I'll be scratching a cover. The Arctic Decals set and the Amodel kit (there are other 1/72 kits of the Hart, by Airfix, Aeroclub and Kora, and the latter has also resin sets for it) is as usual excellent. (Fire engine is a commercial item) (fueling truck is scratch-built and was posted some time ago here at Britmodeller) With the Hurricane it many times shared the field (also purchased by Princess Margaret):
  2. Hello, This is the old Airfix Hawker Hart, obtained from a deceased estate some years ago, paint stripped and repainted in the markings of the original kit but using ModelDecal and Ventura decals to replace the old kit markings lost in the paint stripping process: I added two crew figures, machine gun and scarf ring parts of.. and windscreen... The second Airfix Hart illustration Ventura decals (of New Zealand) for the aircraft codes: The ModelDecal set for the underwing codes:
  3. I have had this one on the stash for a while now so I think I'll get into it once the GB starts. My goal is to build this one, a Hurricane and a Hunter...we shall see! Lots of fiddly resin bits with this kit and I foresee plenty of scratching to be done. Detail looks quite sharp and the moulds look solid and without bubbles. The instruction sheet is a not-to-scale single page carbon copy, so my skills will be tested not only on the build but the old "now what is this bit supposed to be?" question...looks like fun! camo above, trainer yellow beneath. Striking! See you all next week!
  4. Hi, I've just finished this model. This is first one done of mine project of Hawker Hart family "mass prduction". I am doing more or less in paralel five of them: presented now Avro 674, Persian Audax with Bristol engine, Hector from 1940, Hartbeeste of SAAF from East Africa and Hart trainer likely from Habbaniya). I was intending to do complete documentation and present it in Work in Progress - but it slow me down too much so it is just very general. If somone would like to see something on inside etc. - It is here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234978861-hawker-hart-family-mass-production-172/?hl=%2Bhart+%2Bfamily. Avro 674 was a licence build in Avro Hawker Audax with AW Pather VI engine and Fairey propeller. This is a scratch conversion. The "donor" kit is basicly Hart B4 by AZ. However I was doing some crosskiting (lower wings, bombs, bottom hatch are from AZ/Amodel kit).... - moreover I am doing this FIVE models having just FOUR kits - so some parts are copied in resin. In this Avro 674 undercaridge construction and tailwheeli are from resin. Rigings by EZ (I start to really like this material!). Markings are from Royal Egipt AF, 4 Squadron (bomber), 1942, Dark Earth/Light Earth with Light Blue undersurface (Humbrol 29/ Humbrol 26 with dash of 64, Polish Aster 314, wethering by dry brush Humbrol 93). Decals Esci (National Markings), numbers from drawer. This painting scheme was presented in different sources, with small differencies between - for example Audax Profile Publication, A. Crawford's "Hawker Hart Family" and Kora resin model. I rather followed profile from A.Crawford book with small change - wheel hubs alu dope note white (it seemed to me this way from photo...) Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  5. Hi, In Avis/A-model 1/72 kit of Hwaker Hart family there are two versions of bottom slide hatch - with and without window. In all photos I found in net it is always without window from bottom. In which variants it was with window? Namely - I want to build two radial Audax mutations - Avro 674 and Iranian Audax (Nisr). I think that Audax as designed for observation can be expeted to have window in hatch. And I think the camera 's circle opening from bottom is always for all Audax (it is not present in Hart - as far as I've noticed) But perhap someone cn help me knowing it for sure. And what about Hartbeest? Hart trainer has not those hatches at all, isn't it? I will appreciate any help - I have Mushroom's book "Hawker Hart Family" but did not found this there. Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  6. Hi, Has anybody heard something about issue of Hawker Hart family by Special Hobby in 1/72? In one of model shops there is announcement of it as "to come soon" kits, but I have not found it in SH/MPM web page. I am interesting - what will be a range of Hart family (IF it is true?, In particular - will there be Hart trainer among them? Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
