  1. My project for this group build will be Hasegawa’s F4U-5N Corsair in the colours of the Argentine Navy, 2nd Attack Squadron. Argentina used Corsairs for around 10 years retiring them in the mid 1960s when they were painted in very light gull grey/white scheme. There is evidence of them flying off ARA “Independecia” which had been HMS “Warrior”. The Corsairs were used in action during an attempted Army coup, attacking Army targets. I will using in addition to kit JT75, Aztec Decals, True Details wheels, Quickboost gun barrels and Eduard Superfabric WW2 USN seatbelts. Some initial photos. Thanks for looking. Grahame.
  2. My latest effort is this example of the lovely Hasegawa F-86F. It is a easy build so all the glaring errors are of my making. I used a spare set of markings from the Eduard 'Ultimate Sabre' boxing which were for the 390th FBS, at Alexandria AFB, in Louisiana, in1955. There is a nice photo of this machine out on Google images which checks out against these markings. I really enjoyed this build and it was completely trouble free, I used just a smidgen of filler , probably due to my sausage fingers. This will be my last posting for a while as I am about to tackle the Kittyhawk Voodoo, inspired by Camper1 and Nikolay Polyakovi's current build. I might do a WIP but it might just end in the bin! Thanks as always for looking
  3. Hello Everyone ... This is my latest build. Its a Hasegawa F-18C. I used Wolfpack wing folds and Hasegawa Bombs. It represents the CAG bird from the 1997-98 Med. persian gulf cruise. Hoping everone likes this please feel free to comment ? question ? Or joke. Dennis
  4. And so here it is as promised in my Lancer build. Pic of what I'm starting with: For those that haven't followed my Lancer I wont be building the Acropolis Version depicted by the box top. It be Monte car I's a knocking into shape. (Title gives it away a bit ) Although I have a couple other Hasegawa Delta's in the stash this is the first I'll be building. Therefore like with the Lancer i'll leave the suspension till last to gauge wheher the ride height needs lowering. Given Hasegawa's history with these rally kits I'm fully expecting it'll need a couple mm taken out but you never know lol. There's quite a bit to drill and sand on the body shell. Even had to fill a couple marks after removing the moulded on side indicators. The body is currently under it's first coat of primer and may even get some white on by tonight. I assembled and painted the rollcage: I did deliberately miss that small section. After all I did have to hold it somewhere haha. Next up was removing the moulded on detail from the instrument cluster. Some very creative use of a needle file and sand paper was needed lol. Not the best pic but it's hard to photo lol: I've painted the interior tub too: I have read in an Abarth book written by ex Abarth staff that all the cars they built featured grey interiors, but all the pics I've seen of these cars seem to show them either unpainted or maybe it was a silver/aluminium colour paint So I just went with Humbrols 56 Aluminium lol. Strangely there were some large recessed parts on the rear spoiler that I haven't seen on the real car so those have been filled: That's all so far. Thanks for looking. TTFN Ashley.
  5. I've decided to drag another box out of the stash, in this case the Hasegawa 1/200 double kit of the 737-200. Rather than the kit's decals for ANA, old and new, I'll be using the Flightpath Dan-Air and GB Airways sheets. I've built this kit previously in the early 80's, and recall that it was a quick and easy build, so will be a good time filler for my main entry (Monarch -800). Dave
  6. Hello all, Here is my entry for this GB - Hasegawa's 1/48 E/A-18G built as an F/A-18F, of VFA-213 'Black Lions' during their 2017 cruise in support of Operation 'Inherent Resolve.' AJ 204, BuNo 166682 dropped 110 bombs during the cruise and was one of the jets seen with the huge payload of 10x GBU-32 JDAMs. So of course I have to load my model with that payload! I'm using the EA-18G boxing as it comes with the late style ECS pipes already incorporated to the fuselage, which is much better than having to add aftermarket examples. Kit: Aftermarket: I'll be using an Aires cockpit, Pavla seats, GBU-32s and associated racks from Attack Squadron, Furball decals and Xmold seamless intakes (though I may just opt for Steal Beach intake covers). Decals: The decals by Furball are outstanding. The sheet also includes the VFA-87 jet that shot down a Syrian Su-22 in June 2017. I may enter this one to the GB at a later date... The jet itself: Photos courtesy of Navy.mil. Been wanting to do this scheme since I first seen the pictures of the 10 JDAMs! Dave
  7. Here are the final pics of my just completed 1/72 scale Hasegawa Marines F-35B. F-35B Build Thread The model is pretty much out of the box, except for the modified horizontal stabilizers and the weapons pod. For details on these, please refer to the build thread. Paints were MM enamels, Alclad II metals and Colourcoats Aircraft Grey FS#36170 -- ACUS41. Can't wait for the Hasegawa F-35C! Ed
  8. Hi guys, So this is my first post as a newbie on here, it's my Hasegawa P40e Warhawk that was purchased as a Easter present from my lovely lady. I'll put some photos of bits and bobs that I have done up to now as I'm nearly finished so it's not that detailed a walk through I'm afraid. I would say I think she paid about £20 for it and it's a great little kit to be fair and has been an enjoyable build. The detail is good especially the landing gears. I had a lot of filling and rubbing to do on the fuselage as the tail end is separate, in highnsight I probably should have glued half the tail onto each fuselage half first then put them together but there you go. Hopefully you'll see these pictures: As you can hopefully see I have painted the shark mouth rather than go with the decal and the aux tank and gears are on, just a few more bits and pieces and a little weathering and it should be done. Thanks for viewing. Phil
  9. Hi all, So finished this build fairly quickly for my standards and I think its testament for what a nice little kit it is. There were a few minor issues mainly the tail to fuselage join (which in hindsight seems like it could be much more straightforward) but all in all a really enjoyable build. One thing I did do that's worth pointing out is swapping the target crosshair from just in front of the screen to a PE part off an old Eduard German gun sight, this gives for better scale. Some of the lights which I hope you will see on the tips of the wings were just the clear parts and before adding them on i touched them with red and green sharpies. This is the first time I have tried this effect and it works perfectly. Thanks for looking.
  10. Hi Guys, Whilst I realise 1/200 airliners are not particularly well catered for/popular, I must confess to having a real soft spot for the old Hasegawa Love Liner series. I remember as a spotty youth building a number of these little beauties, and all these years later they still build into pretty accurate renditions of the real thing. I built this 747 about 6 months ago from the old JAL boxing - IIRC this was the first 747 Hasegawa released. The landing gear is a bit basic so I added steering cylinders and taxi lights to the nose gear, but left the main landing gear alone as it's pretty much hidden away under the wings. As I managed to snap off the wing mounted HF aerials these were replaced with plastic rod. I also added a APU exhaust shroud, which is a bit oversize - and I wasn't too sure if the early ones actually had these fitted(?) Most photo's of BOAC 747's seem to show the wingtip magnetic sensors painted bright orange/red. Does anyone know the reason for this? The decals are by Classic-Airlines who do a great range for 1/200 airliners. Anyhow without further ado here's 'November Alpha' the flagship of the BOAC fleet.
  11. #11/2018 Another of my dad´s excursions to the modern world. Hasegawa kit, not one of their best, some fit issues, steps and gaps. Thanks to fellow Britmodeller Gundylunch for selling me the kit last year sadly the decals weren´t really usable anymore so they came from an Eagle Strike sheet. Decals for the canopy detonation cord are from a TwoBobs sheet. Seat is from Quickboost, Snakeeyes from a Hasegawa weapon set, the kit includes only drop tanks and Sidewinders. Camo done with Gunze H307 FS36320 and H337 FS35237. 12. I wasn’t on the list but hope it’s ok to join with this little badger.
  13. I've been building my own RAF 100 collection this year and needed some models to fill gaps in the collection. I thought that joining in with this group build would be a great way of participating in the fun. So here's my 1980's contribution: An 11 Squadron Lightning F.6 based at RAF Binbrook mid-late 1980's. I always thought the low-conspicuity scheme suited the Phantom and the Lightning and being a child of the 1980's, this is exactly how I remember them, so an easy decision! Yes, it's the old Hasegawa kit: a simple and hopefully quick and painless build.
  14. Hi fellow modellers, This is my rendition of the beautifull Ki-43 Hayabusa "Oscar", flow by Capt. Shigeo Nango 2° Chutai / 59° Sentai in New Guinea, September 1943. This kit is very special, it was bought last christmas by my girlfriend together with a lovely hasegawa Hien from a collector who had both unopen since the 70s. So i gave it an extra care. The kit itself it was very clean and with soft panel lines wich most where rescribed and fully riveted, The cockpit was fully redone and added neumatic lines in the undercarriage. The markings where all self made, a mix of masking and self made decals. The hinomarus where white based with vallejo cold white and the red was a self made decal, and the red stripes where painted and the white stripes where white decal paper cutted very carefully. Hope you like it.
  15. Hi folks Finally put this to bed. Mixed feelings on the results Finised mainly oob with resin seats local casted Rgds and happy modelling brian
  16. After the Apache, my dad now starts another Desert Storm project. An USMC Harrier using the oop Hasegawa kit. The kit decals weren´t useable anymore so gonna use some from EagleStrike. DSC_0003 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr DSC_0004 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr
  17. Hello all Im finally finished with this one, I started my first ever WIP on October 11th. Heres a link to the WIP It Represents an A-4E used by VMA-214 BlackSheep operating out of Chu Lai in late ‘66 or early ‘67. I represented it with a mixed load out of Mk.82’s and GP bombs left over from WW2 & Korea. There was a munition shortage at the time and all services were using up stored old stock. So here we go I’ll let the plane do the rest of the talking. I hope it meets with some good reviews. I built this in tandem with a Hobbyboss FJ-4b Fury. I will post the photos for the Fury soon. They are both completed. As usual any Comments ? any Questions ? any Jokes ? Have a great modeling day. Dennis
  18. I finished the aircraft yesterday, after fighting it a long way and cutting my finger. The model was originally going to be painted as Walter Nowotny´s Fw 190A-5, but I didn´t measure the yellow rear band correctly and had to start over to avoid making a mess. But, I learned my lesson, and I correctly measured the areas where the white were to be added, so their fit was perfect. Then, after decaling the entire aircraft, the right hand landing gear melted thanks to Revell Contacta, so I added some CA and backward pressure to hold it in place. I did the same with the pitot tube. I didn´t have these problems with the other two Fw 190s I built. I used the kit decals and the upper crosses from an Aeromaster sheet.
  19. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be in the RAF. On my bedroom wall was this poster Flying wasn’t for me, short sightedness and hay fever ruled me out, but driving, now that’s something I could do. MTD none of this new Logs driver rubbish. 22 years passed in the blink of an eye, but so many great memories. Whilst searching on the Tinterweb, I stumbled across this, Now this gives me an idea, a quick rummage through the stash and hey presto Harriers have always been a favourite aircraft of mine for some reason, and I’m used to them in kit form. In fact this is the last one I “built” You can see it on the back of my truck😎.
  20. Good night guys, I bought this model on Facebook this Thursday, and went to pick it up today to a reunion of plastic modellers. I plan to build this Fw 190A-5 as Walter Nowotny´s aircraft (the other option is for Egon Meyer) while using Eduard´s painting instructions. Decals are of the old Hasegawa style, with an ivory colour, just like the ones in their Japanese Army boxing of this aircraft. I´ll post the progress of the build as soon as I begin, most likely tomorrow.
  21. Hello Everyone ... This is my latest build. Hasegawa's AV-8b Night attack Harrier. I opted to build mine as a VMA-311 “Tomcats” Hi-viz. Originally had planned on doing a Blacksheep Harrier but the Decals just didn't work out. The cockpit is an Aries pit. This thing almost cost me my mojo, however I persevered. There were horrible gaps everywhere especially the LERX’s. I had to use 40 thous. Plastic sheet to fill the gaps. If anyone has built one of these knows the forward fuselage is seperate from the rest and connects with essentially a plastic nipple glued in the front of the fan face. Well mine didnt it was about 1/4” to short to connect. So I actually had to drill a hole and connect the two halves with a wood screw of the proper length. That being said I opted to not gove up. And cranked out this. The Aries set comes with a complete pit, bangseat, and a few other bits n pieces. One of which is the Det cord in the canopy so I installed that. It still needs the two pitot’s, Yaw vane, and a little weathering but I’m calling this done. Hope you like it and as usual. Any Questions ? Comments ? Or jokes ? Please feel free to comment. Dennis P.S. - Who doesn't like a Sharkmouth ?
  22. Another Beaufighter. To complement the versions from Tamiya (Mark's), Airfix (John's) and Frog (Steve's), I am going for the Hasegawa kit. As Hasegawa kits are just a tad expensive, I decided to use one that I had in the stash from a few years' back - a combo from Operation Overlord. This is the box top:- The Spitfire will be kept for another occasion..... These are the sprues:- And the transparencies sprue:- Luckily, this boxing includes the metal hedgehog exhausts (which many of the Hasegawa kits don't have). I am going to try my hand with some aftermarket accessories for this build (first time I have ever done a resin cockpit set!) And yes, I realise that not a lot will be seen....but I will know it will be there (as will anyone reading this thread...!) As the title indicates, I am going to finish this kit with more unusual decals - in Israeli colours, on the familiar British desert camo. This is one of four Beaufighters that were smuggled out from the UK to the newly formed state of Israel, in 1948, and were used quite effectively for some months against invading arab forces. The desert camo was because the aircraft were purchased on the basis that they were to be in a film, a ruse used to procure the war surplus planes. They were flown out from an RAF airfield in Haddenham, Oxfordshire, supposedly to fly to Scotland for the filming, but instead flew on to Europe, and then on to Israel, before anyone realised what was going on. This particular aircraft, one of two involved from Israel's 103 Squadron, was shot down in an attack on the Eqyptian-held fortress of Iraq-El-Suweidan in the Negev on October 20th 1948. More in a day or two..... Philip
  23. Hello there, this is my P-40E from Hasegawa OOB, i used mainly Vallejo and Tamiya Paints, the model is brush painted. Also this is my first go at chipping, i used Vallejos chipping medium and it worked pretty well. Well, it got a little bit heavy in the end, but i kinda like it. Also my first go with oils for streaks etc. By the way, i´m still figuring out the photographing part.... Hope you like, Cheers
  24. My second Fw 190, I was able to not break anything this time, and correct a molding error Hasegawa had made on their right hand fuselage (the area designed to take the mounting tab of the right hand wing has too much plastic, and if it´s not corrected will end up with a step in the right fuselage/wing assembly. I removed plastic with a sandpaper and the Xacto until the fuselage sat flush with the wing). The decals were of the old Hasegawa style I´ve read so much, of an ivory colour, but they conformed perfectly to the panel lines and over a mottle with too much paint. Next time I won´t add mottling where the decals go.
