  1. PJ Production has announced at the SMW 2016 a retooled version from its currently sold out 1/72nd Dassault Mirage IIIE kit This Mirage IIE kit was developped with High Planes Models (HPM). Review of the initial boxing in your favourite forum: Sources: https://www.pj-production.be/fr/avions-1-72/74-721026-amd-mirage-iiie.html https://adrianleguina.wordpress.com/2016/11/13/novedades-de-fabricantes-y-tiendas-en-telford-ipms-scale-modelworld-2016/ The sprues: http://imgur.com/a/l7pAn V.P.
  2. Hello all! I'm posting this on the 80th anniversary of the first flight of a Beaufort Mk.V. This was also the first airplane assembled on the site where I now work. The plan had been to get some photos in the original factory (which is still standing but full of Boeing 787 flaps), but COVID had other ideas here in Melbourne. Here are some details Kit: Airfix Beaufort Mk.I Aftermarket: - HPM Early Beaufort conversion set (minus the extended-chord vertical fin) - Eduard Brassin wheels - Eduard Photoetch set - Eduard masking set Paint: - Topside 1: Gunze H-302 (approx. RAAF Foliage Green) - Topside 2: 10 parts Vallejo 71.323 to 1 part Vallejo 71.105 (approx. RAAF Earth Brown) - Underside: 1 part Vallejo 77.701 to 1 part Gunze H-1 (aluminium dope) - Interior: Tamiya XF-71 (cockpit green) Decals: From the Airfix kit other than T9540 serial (from the HPM set) and black arrow at the port wing root (from the spares box) Other modifications: - Relocated one aerial to the belly - removed gun from rear turret (the first aircraft was unarmed at rollout) - Drilled out bulbs in the wingtip lights - Added EZ-line aerial wire - Added 1940s aerial photo of Fishermens Bend Airfield to the navigator's table And now, photos! I posed a few RAF vehicles and figures around it for a few photos. I wasn't able to take photos in the factory, but some of these are being featured in the local newsletter at work next week and I wanted them to still have an interesting background. I know they're not prototypical! Here's the real thing rolling out of the factory. I tried to match the angles of the propellers. Finally, here's the WIP for those interested. Now, on to finishing the first Aussie Beaufighter!
  3. Another completion a bit of record for me 4 kits in a year, the PJ Production boxing of the HPM Mirage this is one of the early boxings with the overdone panel lines, I am a fan of this kits as the options are endless I just wish there were more decal sheets for all the different versions. This one is finished as an Aircraft 22 of E.C. 2/13 based at Colmar in 1980. the decals are from the kit and the Squadron markings from Modedelcal Sheet 88. Enjoy. 6. My latest completion is an early boxing High Planes Dagger A completed as a Dassault Mirage IIIR as it appeared at Exercise Royal Flush 71 after it had been zapped by other squadrons, I used the HPM kit and added a photo recon nose that I had left over from a PJ Productions Mirage V, the decals are from Decals Carpena 72.08 a sheet I first got sometime in the mid 90's I think. _IMG1407_1 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr _IMG1401_1 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr _IMG1402_1 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr _IMG1413_1 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr _IMG1411_1 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr Hope You enjoy Willy
  7. Mirage IIIE No.458 / 13-PP EC 2/13 ‘Alpes’, Colmar – Meyerhiem, France, 1967 The 1967 Battle of Britain ‘At Home’ day at RAF Coltishall was very special for me. I remember being there with my Dad and my Uncle and was equipped with a camera at last! This was the first time I had seen a Mirage IIIE amongst all kinds of other amazing aircraft and I was determined to model No.458 / 13-PP or its brother No.415 / 13-PK also on display that day. Well it took 50 years but I finally got there. This is one of the photos I took on that day : Thank you High Planes Models for a kit that captures the shape and details of the Mirage IIIE very nicely. I actually had the Australian IIIO kit but all the parts are there to make a IIIE. To be honest, I was expecting the fit of parts to be much better (the main joints required a lot of filler) and the panel lines are overdone (a tad too Matchbox trench like) but it certainly looks every inch a Mirage. I built the old Heller kit just before it to try out some finishing ideas (see pictures) and it certainly shows its age in comparison. Finish was basically AK Extreme Metal AK481 Polished Aluminium sprayed over a Tamiya grey primer undercoat. Wing panels were a mixture of Xtracolour Dark Sea Grey and Aluminium with some panels highlighted with Daler Rowney ‘Goldfinger’ silver (previously marketed as ‘Rub N Buff’). Most small access panels were painted Light Aircraft Grey. Panel lines were highlighted with a sharp HB pencil before coating the whole thing in Klear before decaling. Decals were mainly Modeldecal from various sheets. National insignia came from an IPMS sheet. I had to cut out the centres of the roundels and use the central blue disc from the next size down roundel to get the proportions right. For some reason early Mirage national insignia didn’t conform to the more usual 1/3 red/white/blue proportions. I tried out some ‘standard’ roundels on my Heller model of No.492 / 3-JN but they didn’t look quite right – see photos.
  8. It's official after their injected 1/72nd Dassault Mirage IIIE & 5 family (incl.
