  1. I have recently attempted to use the Ammo One Shot primer on a T34 build. During some test sprays on spoons I had great success. Laying down light layers produced a nice, smooth, opaque finish that stood up to sanding after curing overnight... despite the primer seeming a little thick out of the bottle it seems to go through my H&S Ultra 0.4, at 20-25 PSI with no issues. However... Upon moving trying on the model I barely managed to put a light coat on a rear quarter before I started to get splattering and clogging. This was more than a little tip dry. The nozzle was becoming thoroughly clogged and a deep clean was required to clear it out, even needing to resort to the reamer and brushes in the H&S service kit. It too me 3 cycles of spraying/cleaning to get a coat on the model and unfortunately it has dried quite rough. My diagnosis is that the primer is too thick, and the high PSI is causing it to dry before hitting the model... so I have 2 questions... 1) Is my diagnosis reasonable? 2) What have people had success thinning One Shot primer with? I have been using Mr Surfacer as a primer in the past (with mask and booth), but I am keen to limit putting nasties into the air as much as possible for the sake of kids/pets lungs and Stynylrenz/UMP/One Shot seem to be considered the better end of acrylic primers. Ta in advance.
  2. Hey, I'm really getting fed up with my H&S Evolution so I need to vent while picking your minds for a possible solutiin I'm using acrylic paints from Revell, Vallejo and Mig and no matter which brand, what paint-to-thinner ratio, pressure (10-15 psi) or thinner (tap water, IPA, IPA+water, original Revell Aqua thinner) I'm using the tip always ends up clogged as soon as I stop spraying for more than 2-3 seconds. I have to wipe off the tip of the needle to be able to spray again. Today, for instance I used a 30-70, paint-thinner mix for some post-shading. The paint wasn't even flowing constantly at 15 psi! When it did, it spidered, of course. Have you experienced such a problem? Can someone please help with any advice? I'm on the verge of selling it... Many-many thanks in advance! Cristian
  3. I'm finally taking the leap from hairy stick to an airbrush, and have my eye on an H&S Infinity - nothing like going all-in. I've had my feverish hands on one a couple of times at various shows and demos, so have an idea of the feel of the thing. However, it has dawned on me that there is a question I didn't ask. I see that there are options for 2ml and 5ml paint cups, so what kind of coverage should I expect for each capacity of cup? I typically build in 1/72nd, and am curious if I'd manage, let's say, an entire EE Lightning with 2ml of paint or whether I'd need the larger capacity. Is there any rule of thumb for the volume of paint required to cover a specific area? Spray pressure probably plays a role too. Any comments or observations most welcome. Steve
  4. So after giving my Silver line a proper clean in the sonic bath and then throwing the air valve spring and screw cap down the drain, I have replaced them both with new. Will the new spring need some bedding in time? I ask as my trigger now feels different after fitting the new parts, a bit more ON/OFF and not as progressive, or have I just over tightened the screw cap? Cheers Brian
