Greetings tank fans! This build was started in the Tiger STGB earlier in the year, but never made it in the time allowed. I used an Eduard big photoetch set .... zimmeritt, fenders, mudguards and a lot of other details, which proved quite a challenge and was time consuming. Star decals were used and the tank itself was used by 3 kompanie, SS Pz. Abt 101 based in Normany in 1944 I wanted a finish that represents a Tiger that has been in action and looks well used, which I think I've managed. As usual, I'm my own worst critic! Painted with Ammo acrylics, weathered with oils, acrylics and Ammo mud. The build thread for this can be found here Anyway, here's the final result .... Thank you for taking the time to look, comments are welcome! Keith ☺️

Hi all I’m trying to get a car centric GB into 2025. I’m mostly an aviation and AFV modeller so I don’t frequent these parts until someone pitched the idea of a visit 😀 So if anyone is interested we’d love you to follow the links above and signup.

Well, here's my rendition of Tiger 131 (captured in Tunisia after being knocked out, and now at The Tank Museum) built for the Tiger 1 Group Build. This is an Airfix rebox of the Academy kit, which for 131 has a few inaccuracies. The damage is reflective of the actual tank and the smoke dischargers are not in the correct positions (not great instructions!), but overall happy with the outcome. Thanks for looking and comments welcome! Keith 😁

In his comment about my recent Dapol Rocket build @stevej60 said ",it would never get through in a million year's but it would be nice to have a static railway GB taking in all aspect's of railway modelling locos, rolling stock, building's etc," Well nothing ventured nothing gained - so I offer this up as a suggestion and see what comes up. We have until the year 1,002,019 to prove @stevej60 wrong in his prediction.# Good to see @stevej60 join us as you will see from the above it was his challenge that started this thread. We need one more to get this into the Bunfight. Why not be that one? Thanks to @bianfuxia and @Bobby No Mac, who have both offered nit GB rail related entries, this proposal has now met the target to get into the bunfight for 2022 - only 27 other contenders for slots! The question is do I book a world cruise for next year or not? To encourage more people to sign up - I will add vehicles (including lorries, buses, ships and aircraft) owned by railway companies and buildings directly linked to operating railways. The title has been amended to reflect this. In addition structures that don't meet that above criteria but were marketed as accessories for model railways will be allowed as long as they are to a recognised railway scale. Therefore the Airfix/Dapol building kits are allowed as are the Model land series sold by Triang. Please keep signing up

Anyone who's been down in the Group Build section will have already seen this one (so apologies for any duplication). It's one which has been on sale quite cheaply recently, Revell's 1966 Hertz rent-a-racer Mustang. There's not really a lot going on here, it's just been built straight out of the box. The build thread is here: As I said, this one is built as Revell supply it, apart from some plasticard backing to the numberplates to give them a bit more body. It's not perfect, but perhaps because it's quite simple is one of my better builds. For a kit dating back over 30 years, this one is a good 'un - no real fitment issues and it builds up to a nice model with minimal extra effort. I know this is a bit of a heresey, but I'd almost go so far as to say that it's slightly better than a Tamiya kit of the same vintage, with the only challenges being the front valance (very small attachment points mean it keeps trying to slip until the glue dries) and a few minor issues with the front bumper. If you want a cheap (£16), not too complicated, kit and like the subject this one is well worth getting. It's also my first attempt with bare metal foil - I'm more impressed by the effect of the foil than I am with my execution but there's a few lessons were learned there for next time. Onto the photos, and I'll start with the glamour shot (i.e. probably the best one I managed to get of it). I like the way that this one came out That done, time for a quick tour around the car. It's was easier to see (and photograph) the engine before I fitted the bonnet in place, so this is probably the best pic I have of that: Meanwhile, the interior turned out to be easier to get a decent shot of than most of the models I've built for some reason. Unfortunately, it also turned out that for this picture I was shooting in full-on Dustarama (c) ! And finally, a shot to show how I've improved. I wanted to do this car for the Mustang challenge as my first car on returning to the hobby was the 2006 Hertz Mustang, so this means I have the pair now. It also gives me an excuse to put the two of them together. As ever, thanks for looking.

This is one of my two builds for the Eleventh Hour: Commemorating the end of the Great War - Group Build. Information about the Medium Mark A Whippet can be found here. This was a good kit to build and, despite some odd shapes to fit together around the crew compartment, it goes together very well. I made this to be part of a small vignette together with a Renault FT-17 and a few figures from Master Box. The RFI photos of the FT-17 can be found here. Kit: 1/35 Takom Paints: Humbrol, Revell, Citadel and Railmatch Acrylic paints all applied by brush Extras: None for the tank itself just some stowage items from the Meng FT-17 kit and Academy. Most of the weathering was done with acrylic paints and the mud is from Vallejo. WIP thread: Here Vignette photos can be found: Here. [ A couple of photos of this and the FT-17 on the base: Finally thank you to Robert Stuart for hosting the excellent GB and anyone who commented or offered advice in my build thread. Kind regards, Stix

Hi Ladies & Gents,I have entered a buddy build on Facebook that has been organised by a chap called Martin Lamont, it is called the "Hawker Harrier 50th Anniversary Buddy Build".Now I want to build a variant of all the types of Harrier flown by the RAF and RN, i would like to build these in the order that they entered service. So after building the Harrier GR.1 that can be found on here, I decided to enter the 1/72 Airfix Harrier GR.3 into the buddy build. Here are the traditional box, instructions and sprue photos:Sprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSprue shots and instructions. by Neal, on FlickrSo that is the introduction to the build, I will post up the same updates here as I am doing on the buddy build. These are my two builds for the Eleventh Hour: Commemorating the end of the Great War - Group Build. These two were my first ever World War 1 tank builds and I thoroughly enjoyed making them both - they are fascinating vehicles in their own right. I had planned on doing a much more detailed scene but realised I was starting to run out of time to do anything too complex in case I didn't get it completed before the close of the GB at midnight today. The scene itself is set very late on in the conflict and I was imagining what the thoughts of the British crew must have been about the idea of the rotating turret on the FT-17. Kits: 1/35 Takom and Meng Paints: Humbrol, Revell, Citadel and Railmatch Acrylic paints all applied by brush Figures: Master Box Base: Wilko picture frame, pizza box base styrene, Polyfiller and various scatter materials and tufts from Jarvis, Woodlands Scenics and Army Painter. WIP thread: Here Whippet RFI: Here FT-17 RFI: Here The photos below were taken on my Spitfire display base which has the sky backdrop: Some photos of the vignette in it's picture frame base: Finally thank you to Robert Stuart for hosting the excellent GB and anyone who commented or offered advice in my build thread. Hello everyone,I have just started another kit for another group build on Facebook, this time the build is called #twinbrit and it is run by Tim Hedworth over at British Aviation in Scale, the group build runs until the 17th of March. So enough time for me to shoe one in before staring on my French Fancies entry! The rules of the GB are simple it is anything british made or in british service that has two of something for example a Mosquito being twin engined, a Bae Hawk being a twin seater, etc..I decided to go for Tamiya's rebox of Italeri's Tornado F3. I know it is older kit and has an issue or two but as far as I am aware it is proably the better ADV in 1/72 scale. Here are the customary box, instructions and sprue photos:The box showing a completed model:Box, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrInstructions seem simple with only 7 steps, but are in Japenese:Box, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrKit decals look ok:Box, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBut I think I'll be using these from xtradecal instead:Box, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrSprues, there are only two main sprues and one clear, should be a relatively quick build fingers crossed!Box, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrBox, instructions & sprues. by Neal, on FlickrSo there is the usual introduction to any of my builds, I'll be doing some videos of the build too. Thanks for having a look.Take care.Neal

Hey guys, finally got my MiG together. The Zvezda tooling is actually turning out to be quite nice, although looking a bit rough around the edges. The kit is quite nicely detailed. The instructions and decals are awful, they don't include all the parts and the decal sheet includes no stencils and are about as thick as the box it came in. The only problem with the plastic that I have encountered is that there are no discernible roots for the wings or stabilisers so setting them correctly was tricky. Other than that only a minute amount of filler at the base of the tail and wing roots and the kit's a cracker. Seeing as the decals are as rough as they are I'm going to try wing it, and paint a scheme I seen online. This MiG is for UKscalemodeller's group build on Youtube. Ill be uploading this build video to Murrodels Thoughts/tips? Cheers! The new scheme, I roughed up what I'll paint on the kit's examples... About half of all of the wee bits...

The Premise: So here's the idea. Boeing turns 100 this year, and is, depending on who you ask (silly Airbus fans) one of the best aircraft manufacturers in the world. Over the last 100 years, they have built thousands of planes, and designed countless different military and civilian models. So why not take the Boeing Centennial as an opportunity to celebrate the beauty and power of their aeronautical creations? The Rules: All GB entries must be aircraft, and must have been designed by Boeing. Aircraft may be airliners, fighters, bombers, anything you wish. Even spaceships, such as the CST-100, are allowed. Collaborations, such as the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey, are also allowed. Larger projects which somehow included Boeing are also allowed. Designs Boeing inherited from other manufacturers, such as the Boeing 717, are allowed. This does not work backwards - eg. a DC-8 will not be allowed, as it was built long before Douglas became part of the Boeing Company. If unsure about something, consult GB hosts for guidance. Aircraft made under license by other manufacturers, as well as stolen/reverse-engineered designs are allowed. Spacecraft, such as the CST-100 Starliner, are allowed. Designs which where never built are allowed (mostly because I really want to build a B2707) Aircraft which have not yet been built/flown, such as the 777X or the 787-10, are allowed. All GB members must have tons of fun while building their models! Supporters: POTKC tomprobert theplasticsurgeon Jabba Paul J TonyTiger66 SleeperService TrojanThunder snapper_city CliffB S48 helios16v Caerbannog Dazzio Pin PhantomBigStu Jessica Addendum: Post your thoughts on this below - there should be some interest in a Boeing GB, right? Right? Right? Disclaimer: This is my first time ever (yay!) suggesting a GB, so if I'm doing something wrong (boo!) feel free to shout at me. Constructively.

Ok, I know I'm a latecomer to this but I'll try to get at least one build done in time I've chosen the Airfix 1/72 DH Vampire T.11. Made a quick start cleaning up some mould seams with parts still on the sprue and a base coat of Tamiya Rubber Black on the relevant areas (interior etc.) I reckon a drybrush of Nato Black should pop the detail out.

Hello glue-sniffers and ABS addicts. This thread is a split from http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234999580-airfix-vampire-t11-x-2/ Images are spoiler tagged for ease of page loading. If you have any issues with the photos, blame RobG. If you have any issues with the model, don't blame me. If you would like a custom-built version for your mantelpiece then dream on. I haven't built a model for probably 18 years, so I began with a pre-emptive strike on the box.

Hi all, If you haven't seen yet:- later this year, from the 25th June until 23rd October 2016, there will be a Vignette Group Build taking place over in the Group Build section. If you are already into making dioramas and/or vignettes this will be the Group Build for you! If you haven't ever tried to make a scenic display for your lovingly built kit then here is the opportunity to give it a go - hopefully there will be lots of other builds going on to inspire you. 49 Britmodellers have already signed up to take part. If you would like to see who has signed up so far and the guidelines for taking part then just click HERE. If you'd like to join in just add a reply to the Vignette GB thread and we'll add you to the list. Blastvader, Neu and I look forward to seeing you in June! Make sure you have the dates in your diary!! Kind regards, Stix

Would there be interest in a Minor Conflicts of the Cold War GB? I ask this because interest in the proposed Suez Crisis GB seems sadly limited. However, it occurs to me that there were a number of "little wars" (though traumatic enough for those unlucky enough to experience them) during the Cold War between 1954-1979. (25 years is a nice span of time, and excludes some of the bigger or harder to classify conflicts like the Korean War or the Falklands.) It would include things like the Portuguese in Angola and Mozambique, the British in the Aden and Malayan Emergencies, French "Jaguar Diplomacy", the Rhodesian Bush War, etc. etc. Does that sound interesting?

I managed to find this little gem on eBay recently... One of my favourite aircraft of all time and a legendary combat plane, i have very fond memories of watching these at Mildenhall and Weathersfield as a kid so im really looking forward to this build. The plane in question is 68-0493 which had a confirmed Mig-21 kill in July 1972. Its a good looking kit with plenty of detail, very little flash and a really nice decal sheet so it should go together quite well. Im going to try some different paint on this build, im usually a Tamiya kinda guy but ive heard good things about Hataka paints and the colours are apparently a really good match so looking forward to giving these a try.

Hi, i will be entering my build of the Airfix 1/48 Ready For Battle gift set. i have had my eye on getting this kit for some time, and when i found out about this group build i thought it enough justification to build this kit/set (i was going to build the Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk IXc, which will just have to wait). annoyingly i will have to hand paint it as my airbrush is broken at the moment, but will try my best. Knowing how slow a bulder I am (TV is in the other room major distraction issue) jumping in so late may be a bit of gamble, but after an impulse buy at Cosford I am going to give it a go. The kit of choice here is the Hobbyboss P-39L in 1/48: My secret weapon here is that two piece fuselage/wing/tailboom assembly, which will speed things along and help me catch up - once I get to that stage. Because there is another hurdle to get over first: Yes I am going to try to wedge the Aires cockpit set in there...an exciting challenge or over-ambitious foolishness only time will tell. The reasoning behind it isn't hard, below is the kit cockpit floor with the True Details version and the Aires on the right. No contest really. Bought at the same time was Kagero's 'Pacific Lightnings'; this has eight rather attractive schemes, but I am probably going with Shady's Lady. Be warned I am not fast so posts will be irregular, but work has started in that the Aires floor is no removed from its casting block and has been test fitted into the top half of the fuselage, which has only served to warn me how much work will be required to close that that 5mm gap...

Number Two: "Du mußt Amboß oder Hammer sein." Number Six: "You must be Anvil or Hammer". Number Two: I see you know your Goethe. Number Six: And you see me as the anvil? Number Two: Precisely. I am going to hammer you. -- The Prisoner, "Hammer into Anvil" Then Achilles, in a fury, said to his horse: "Xanthus, why do you prophesy my death? There is no need. I know well enough I'm fated to die here, far from my loving parents. No matter. I will not stop till I have driven the Trojans to the limit of what they can endure in war." -- Homer, The Iliad, Book XIX Well, this is probably a terrible idea, but I'm going to try it anyway. At the start of this year, I had exactly two P-40 kits, the Sword Kittyhawk III double boxing. Because of this Group Build, I found seven more in my possession after I blacked out for a spell, so now I have to build them or perish, not least of all because my wife is starting to wonder why my stash seems to keep growing if I'm not buying anything. My intent is to build all eight aircraft as Mediterranean-based P-40s, which will require some scrounging, as the double kits only have enough regular roundels for one aircraft each. I'm going to use the spare Legato decals (supplemented by some from Cookenbacher) to build the Hasegawa kit as either J F "Eddie" Edward's machine or Clive Caldwell's sharkmouth. I'm polishing off three 109s elsewhere, but hope to get to work this weekend.

First the obligatory picture of the boxes I think we all know what the insides look like! I haven't yet decided what aircraft to build other than a MK 4 in delivery condition with the white lettering. I was thinking of doing either a Pakistan aircraft with the Exocets (Old bobcat kit of the super puma has them I can rob) or an Indian navy one both decals on the way to me if eBay is to be believed. If not as you can see I have 2 set of C Scale conversion for the Mk 4 and decals for 8 different aircraft so may do a winter one or SFOR aircraft Anyway here we go....... Cockpits can be done with out choosing the 2nd aircraft yet. Rodders

HI Everyone, Following the deletion of the Starship Enterprise STGB thread, I am opening up this new thread with a difference. Rather than just being a Starship Enterprise or Star Trek group build, I am opening this group build as a Full SciFi group build. You can build anything within the realm of SciFi - Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, absolutely anything. as long as its SciFi. Please post your interest in this thread. We need 30 members to make this Group Build happen. Cheers, Rick
