  1. I've started one of the Glencoe kits, and looking up background took me to some items of interest. It's a shame there's not a better kit of the Condor available. Then there's this: The focus of this advertisement short is a flight on a Curtiss Condor, but its proffer of luxury service to 'people on the go' is a priceless period piece. It has a great many frames of modeling value. James
  2. Thanks for allowing Dylan and I to join this GB. We shall each be building one of the kits below, which being 1/48 scale should give me a fighting chance of seeing what I'm doing ! Ive never built a Glencoe kit before so if anyone has any advice regarding this kit / aircraft it would be most appreciated. Cheers Pat & Dylan (age 12)
  3. One year and 2 days from my first WIP post, I can finally call this one done! Bristol Sycamore HR.51 in Royal Australian Navy guise, circa mid-1950's. This was never meant to be a long build, but as it progressed I kept seeing things I just needed to tidy up. The rotor fold, blade cradle, winch, steps, cockpit interior, tail rotor, port side under carraige and front starboard door are all scratch built. And although not 100% accurate and authentic, it looks pretty much like a Sycamore to me. Maybe one day I'll be tempted by the CMR resin kit, although there's lots more to build yet in my stash and resin makes me sort of anxious. WIP can be found here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234955537-bristol-sycamore-hr51/ Thanks for looking. Andrew
  4. Walking past my stash the other day, this little helicopter caught my eye - the Glencoe version of the Bristol Sycamore. It's touted as 1/72 scale, but I've read in online reviews that it is closer to 1/65. The moulding is pretty dated with a prominence of rivets, some pretty thick castings and a very rudimentary interior. My aim is to build a RAN HR.51, most likely this guy, in overall silver: http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/albums/Sycamore-XN448/AMOF_XN448.jpg
  5. Following in the long modelling tradition of never finishing one build before starting another. My son Dylan and I are finally getting our collective finger out and joining this GB, without having completed our previous builds ! We shall be trying to form the resemblance of an Albatross from the misformed, salmon pink shaped blobs provided by Glencoe models. The aircraft itself was Austria- Hungary's own version and the was good enough not to need updating as the German one did for later marks. We have been given permission to both build one of these each but for different WW1 Austria-Hungarian aces, Photos to follow. Cheers Pat & Dylan
