  1. Rejoining with this kit, bought on a trip to Weymouth in June. Parts Instructions. This model the same colours, scheme and techniques as yesterday's Messerschmitt. Decals Cockpit Fuselage and wings being formed And airframe.
  2. Hello fellow modellers, this is my first model with an open engine Thank you for watching i hope you liked
  3. Hello gents Seeing as we still have almost two months still to go on this Group Build I thought I'd chance my arm with another biggie; Revell's A-8/R2 Sturmbock, the Wurger with the most Dakka. Here's the kit, or at least its box: ... and a couple of extras: I've also got a mask set for the canopy and some alternative markings on the way, I wasn't enamoured of either of the kit's provided choices. As there is no pilot figure included in this kit, I made up a set of the HGW seatbelts that I would have used on the Hasegawa D-9 if I hadn't used the pilot figure that kit came with: ... and I de-sprued the main cockpit components: ... and ground off the raised detail where the Red Fox 3D transfers will fit: Um yeah, I know, you can't really see it But it should become more apparent once everything has had a spray of RLM66. Cheers, Stew
  4. Hello! Here's my recent project, the nice Eduard's Profipack Fw190 A-5, a very good kit, with no issues at all. Paints from Mr Color range. Weathering trying to replicate operating from dusty Eastern Front airfields. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
  5. Prelude to Black Friday - 9th February 1945 Not showing the clash between allied and axis forces directly. My image is showing the first units of JG5 from Herdla entering the scene of Fördesfjord, western Norway, where the Black Friday clash took place on february 9th 1945 as RAF Dallachy Beaufighters is attacking the german destroyer Z33 and suporting vessels in the area. The Fw190A-8 Blue 4 was piloted by Rudi Linz, a 69 kills ace, whom also was killed that day. Shot down by an escorting 65 Sqn Mustang. 10 allied and 5 german planes were shot down. 18 allied and 2 german airmen were either KIA or Prioners. Perhaps my scene should have had more smoke and Flak from the attacked ships, but I think I like it as it is. Participating RAF units were 9 Beaufighters from 144.(RAF) Squadron 11 Beaufighters from 404. (RCAF) Squadron 11 Beaufighters from 455. (RAAF) Squadron 12 Mustang MK IIIs from 65. (RAF) Squadron 2 Warwick MK Is from 279. (RAF) Squadron Axis units were: 9 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 from 9. Staffel 3 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 from 12.Staffel
  6. I did pretty well for Christmas (we modellers are easy to buy gifts for!) and had two lovely looking 1/72 Eduard models waiting under the tree! Having just about finished an old Lanc I decided to take on the FW190 A-5 first to "cleanse my pallet" and get something made relatively quickly. The kit comes with photo etch and masks for the canopy so I'll be building it straight out of the box. I'm still pondering which scheme to go for and will save that decision until she's closed up and wings are on. Progress so far is to get the cockpit together. I sprayed a coat of rlm66 and then added the pe with super glue, so far so good and everything fits beautifully. Next step is a coat of varnish then a bit of weathering. Thanks for looking!
  7. Here is a 1:48 scale Fw190 A9 that I finished quite a while ago but never posted here. It’s the old Dragon kit re-boxed by Revell. I have a few of these in the stash but had never actually built one before. Kit had the extra broad propellers and the cooling fan with extra blades as well as the A9 hood. Despite its reputation the kit went together well only the finicky fit of the nose/wings (6 parts coming together) being a bit of a challenge. Finished in the brown rather than green RLM 81 just for the pure hell of it. Aircraft belonged to Ofhr. Wilhelm Ade of 2/JG1 stationed at Twente airfield (NL) January 1945. He was the sole survivor of his unit when they got caught taking off 4th January. They were pounced by members of the Canadian 401, 411 en 442 Squadrons 401. Ade survived his crash and his period of time in hospital thereafter probably ensured his survival at a time when the Luftwaffe was being slaughtered. Decals form Kagero's JG1 Oesau (Pt II). I am slowly but surely getting my way through the aircraft featured in these books. regards Brian
  8. Hi Guys, I just finished my Hasegawa 1/48 Fw190 A4, with the markings belonging to Hannes Trautloft, Kommodore JG54, Russia, at the beginning of 1943. It was built in parallel with an old-tooled Eduard Fw190A5, which is still in progress at this time. Anyway, I'm happy that I finished one of them and I hope you will like it. The entire build log is here, if you are interested to see it. Thanks for looking and cheers,
  9. This is at the moment merely a placeholder for a pile o' kits what have been languishing untouched for around a decade. I will get to these once I have finished with the accursèd Pavla Seafire, rot its socks. Kits include: Hasegawa 1/72 FW 190 A-7 'Oesau' w/Eduard etch - almost complete; Tamiya 1/48 FW 190 A-3 'OOB' - almost complete but the dihedral is crook so it needs to be pulled apart...; Hasegawa 1/32 Me 163 - early stages but with Milliput filler in cockpit to fill in the gaping pressure-releasing holes; Airfix 1/24 FW 190 A-5 - early stages but radial engine banks glued together; Hasegawa Misubishi J2M3 Type 21 Raiden w/Eduard PE set and Squadron canopy (? - might be for J2M5 Type 33 wot I also have an untouched kit of) - cockpit more or less completed but some PE levers unaccounted for recently on a quick checking o' box contents, relevant surfaces painted in Gunze 'Mr.Hobby(?) 'aotake'; Hasegawa 1/48 Spifire 'Mk IXc' - NOT! Fuselage cut into lots of tiny pieces prior to adding plasticard inserts to turn fuselage from a Mk V(?) to Mk XI per instructions on Hyperscale. Earliest of the kits started, and bumped to the bottom of the queue by those listed above, a collection of ICM Mk IX/VIII/VII/XVIs ans the recent Eduard IXe 'late version' (resin an PE acquired for this abomination, too; ICM 1/48 Bf 109 F (or K?) - end-opening box converted to top-opener and bits missing, some engine parts glued up; Accurate Miniatures 1/48 P 51-A: partially painted cocpit but attack w/ various thinners to remove the 'orrible lumpy paint job >shudder<; Tamiya 1/35 Land Rover 7 Ambulance - getting close to completion, but not appropriate to this a/c thread so this little 1976 gem will appear somewhere in BM's AFV section. Probably. I have the sneaking suspicion that I have missed some (started) kits, but can't remember what they might be. Realistically, the most appropriate kits for this kit are the smaller FWs. The Raiden is worthy of its own thread, given that (I think that) it's a really nice kit, and that it is a relatively stage in its 'construction' (I'm not known as the 'Fumble Fingered Fool' for nuffin'). And the Land Rover. The rest? Hmmm, well, there's always and and . Cheers, Alex. [ ] Sheep is in his byre and won't come out: says it's too cold even with his thick woolly winter coat.
  10. Being at least partly responsible for creating what is now an 18-month old little chap, part of my fatherly remit obviously encompasses the finer points of aircraft identification. The trio below are all from the defunct Airfix 'Mini Kits' series of 1/100 unassembled, but pre-painted kits. I'm happy to report that 'Spitfire' is already a (very repetitive at the moment) part of his vocabulary. Exactly what to teach him as regards the FW is currently a matter of debate. cheers, Jason
  11. First up the bombed out Ago factory showing Fw190s finished in late war colours, 5.18 into the film. http://resources.ushmm.org/film/display/detail.php?file_num=0364 Choose your colours! Second film showing the surrender of 2 JG6 Doras at Furth including the famous Blue 12, 1.10 into the film, surrender of a Ju87D 4.30 into the film also shown are P and C47s plus various armour. http://resources.ushmm.org/film/display/detail.php?file_num=5451. Again you'll find stills from these films in quite a few books. Tim.
