  1. While I have at least two of the F-8 version of this kit in the stash, I'm going to build an F-8 from this A-8 kit, with the night fighter parts and decals being donated to an Airfix kit. I don't even need to replace the flat canopy, as some F-8s were fitted with this, including the subject I intend building. This is yet another kit that has been moved around from one place to another over the years, and the seat is missing. However, I have a cunning plan. My intention is to complete this in a "non-standard" camouflage such as used in the Courland pocket in 1945. The seat problem? The Zvezda A-4 kit has a pilot option with an integrated seat. As I'm not using that for the Zvezda kit, it can be used here ... if it fits. As designed it doesn't, with the pilots legs spread way too wide. That sort of manspreading might work with the Zvezda cockpit, but not here. The obvious solution is the Airfix/Douglas Bader approach: amputation. The result is perfect: More to follow over the next few days.
  2. Hello guys, This is my entry for the grouptbuild. A bit of nostalgia from my younger years, having built at least three versions of the earlier boxings of this kit. This one os the 2018 reboxing of the 1996 kit. As such, it has quite a bit of flash on the parts, but nothing a sharp blade can't solve. The cooling fan will be complicated to remove without damaging, because the three contact points are connected to the blades themselves. I'm picturing myself breaking them so I don't end up disappointed 🙃 Here's the box. And here's today's progress, some painted parts on the sprues. Not pictured are the clear parts, which are on the box.
  3. Want to know the community's opinion on Tally Ho! decals. I'm after how easy they're to use (if they slide over the model's surface before pressing them down with a cottob bud), and if they react well to Microsol (or any other softening solution). Asking because my attempts to use decals from Eastern Europe (ICM, Eduard) left me with transfers stuck solid to the surface of the model before being able to slide them into their final position. This is the set I'm interested in getting: https://www.scalemates.com/cs/kits/tally-ho-cz-32005-fw-190-friedrich--120715
  4. Hi all, I am actually still busy with another project (1/48 KittyHawk Mirage F1CZ) which I posted in the "In Progress" section here; http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234951466-148-kittyhawk-mirage-f1/page-1. I recently travelled to the US for a few weeks and on my return found myself totally uninterested to continue with that project for the time being. It turned out to be quite a difficult kit to build due to all the corrections that needed to be made which contributed to my temporary "builders block". To get the mojo back I decided to do a quick build of this kit, Hasegawa's 1/32 Fw 190F-8. This scheme on the Fw 190F-8 always appealed to me and I decided to give it a go. Research on the net proved that the grey RLM 75 should actually be Brown RLM 81, which I used: The build is mostly out of the box except for the exhausts (Quickboost) and the seatbelts (Fine Molds). Here is the completed build. Hope you like it. All comments welcome. Victor
