I have noticed in several photos of the BBMF Lancaster in flight that there are two small hatches open on the top of the fuselage.
I can’t imagine why this would be desirable! Are they opened purely for flight for some reason or are they usually open when parked up too? If they are, I think I’ll depict my model of Thumper in the same way.
What happens to the hatches when they are opened: do they hinge down (to which side?) or are they detached and stored somewhere?
The Airfix kit shows the hatches themselves to have a recessed circle – which also has the fuselage join running through – is this a window on the real thing?
Any guidance on the above would be appreciated!
