  1. Hi all this is my latest build and for once it is for me, just over 2 weeks work This is the 1/48 Hobby Boss YF-23, the only extras for it are the Caracal Decals, these are essential as the kit ones are total nonsense and an Aires resin Ejection Seat. The kit itself went together perfectly, really quite impressed, the join between the two halves of the fuselage was perfect, just the smallest application of liquid filler and that was it. For a 1/48 kit she is huge, not 100% sure of Hobby Boss scaling here but I like big. (430mm/17” long) The cockpit is nicely done and is a good likeness for the original and with the Aires seat turned out quite nicely. It is a shame they did not make more of an effort in the engine area as this is a bit sparse and the ceramic tiles around the exhaust could have been a bit more detailed. None of these are really big issues, I suppose the biggest flaw is the canopy. The real aircraft has a two stage mechanism for raising the canopy, this gives the pilot and crew greater and easier access. The whole of this area is missing in the kit which means you have to build with the canopy down, I did ponder some scratch building but there just is not enough accurate imagery to do it properly. Allot of it would have ended up as guesswork and there is no point in doing that. As usual all painted in Tamiya Acrylics and post shaded for a little weathering, in hindsight Pav One would have been better for weathering as she is Dark Grey and there are some good images out there with sandy panel lines, a bit like the SR-71. Complete. Still have a little time before all the parts for the next commission get here so i will have to find another quick build. Thanks for looking. Danny
  2. This was just meant to be a quick stash reduction job before restarting the Blackbird commission and the last 3 airframes. I will kick that off again on the 1st of July, up until then I will see how much more of this I can get done. Swift Protar 1/9 Ducati 748SP Revell 1/9 Ducati 916SP x2 kits Revell 1/9 Ducati 996 Superbike All 3 bikes are based around the origonal Ducati 916SP, there are various versions of this bike but I will specifically cover the 748, 916 and 996 World Superbike version. All these bikes are basically the same, they just vary in bore and stroke, the 748 has smaller rear tyre, naturally Revell have used the same moulding across all 3 kits with some minor changes to the 996 Superbike spec m/c. In reality the Superbike spec 996 would be vastly different, I will just work with what I have, getting all the carbon fibre correct will be the trick. To get the smaller rear tyre and the yellow fairing I have utilised the Protar 748 kit, this was an incomplete eBay special. Yet again most of the parts here are the same moulds as the Revel kits, the only real difference with the Protar kit is the engine and swing arm have all been moulded as one, this makes for a rather ugly undefined bit of plastic that I would not have used anyway. Simple solution was to just take the parts I need and add them to a standard 916 kit, the fairings are identical as is the frame and exhausts and most of the other parts. Initially I have focused on the 748 and 916, the 996 has lots of subtle variations that will be a pain to do the same time as the 748 and 916. There variations became even greater once I had got together some reference images, I have basically ignored the kit recommended colours as they are for the most part wrong for all the kits. Usual start point is the engine(748, 916), base coat of Tamiya XF-16 Aluminium and a specific mix of paints to get the metallic green for the engines casings. Engines have all been given a grey wash to bring out the detail. Dry clutch baskets, painted initially with Tamiya gloss red then over coated with Tamiya TS-36 Fluorescent Red to get the right effect. The kit includes some timing belts which are a nice touch, you will not see them when the cover is on though. I have added the racing clutch cover, back in the day most people added the lightweight clutch cover to their bikes to make them look a bit more trick, as you do. Belt cover in place. Next up were the swing arm and suspension units, the 996 will be a carbon effect so that will be done later. With that done I could attach the rear wheel, I blended up my own colour for the wheels, the kit wheels and frame have a metallic ish moulded colour but it was not right. The front forks were a real pity as the fork leg is the wrong diameter and if you just painted it silver it would look naff. I had told myself I would not do any scratch building but I could not leave it. I have various bits of steel tube and the solution came from and old telescopic aerial. One of the lengths was a perfect fit over the existing tube, simple but worthwhile solution. Fork assembly coming together. Next up is the fuel injection/carbs, not really sure of the accuracy here so I have just gone with it as it is, they look ok to me. Another nice detail is the various lengths of hose, I made a start on these, there are also further hoses for the brakes as well. With the fiddly bits done I could get the engine halves assembled. The frame is simple enough the 748 and 916 are the same, the 996 has some difference in paint finish, mainly a bit of carbon fibre effect here and there. With the frames ready I could start to assemble the bikes. Well this is where I am up to now, with the 748 and 916 assembled I can start on the 996, I will bring it up to the same point. That will take a few days, after that I will get started on the exhausts and anything else I can do before I get back on the Blackbird commission. It may be a while before the next WIP. Thanks for looking. Danny. "In Wildness Is the Preservation of the World" http://www.modelmasteruk.com/
  3. The next leg of my Blackbird commission has been completed with the addition of the two Training aircraft SR-71B and A-12 "Titanium Goose". This is the build thread. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234961256-titanium-twins-sr-71b-and-a-12-titanium-goose-wip/ Titanium Twins Completed.(SR-71B Trainer and A-12 Trainer "Titanium Goose") Thanks for looking. Danny.
  4. With the completion of the first part of the project I have moved on to the SR-71B and the A-12 Trainer the Titanium Goose. I will only do a couple of WIP's for this as it will mainly be focused on the A-12 Goose, the SR-71B will be a lot of repetition of the previous birds already completed. The Titanium Goose A-12 Trainer 2nd cockpit is quite a bit different to how the SR-71B looks so I needed to scratch build a second canopy. This is the SR-71B, note profile of the 2nd cockpit, it is much slimmer and blends in with the lines of the airframe. The angle from the rear cockpit is quite shallow. This is the A-12 Goose, the angle to the rear of the second canopy is much steeper and the canopy is wider and bulges out the side of the airframe, the front canopy is also a little bit smaller. I will also be building it with the re fuelling port open, I have another image of the Goose coming up to a tanker and in flight refuelling would have been a major part of learning to fly one of these planes, still the trainer was a brave man. After a fair bit of trial and error a found that using a section of the canopy from a YF-12A would work out perfectly, it has the width and it will match up with the smaller pointed front windscreen. I started by setting the parts in place with a small amount of CA glue, I had to do this a few times to get it where I wanted. Once I was happy I applied a larger amount of CA and left to set for the night, from there it was a case of sanding to get the basic shape. Lots of coarse Plasto Filler applied. First sanding. After a second coarse coat and sanding I was happy with the shape and applied some liquid filler to fine tune it. In profile to the SR-71B. After a few more coats of liquid filler and the associated sanding I could put on a base primer, this help bring out any flaws and gives a good idea of the final outcome. At this point there is still a vast amount to do but getting the shape right meant I could glue the whole forward resin section together. From here its lots of filler and sanding, I will not bore you with that but jump ahead a bit. Final coat of liquid filler. Ready for assembly to fuselage body. Far from finished but the last of the imperfections will be done after assembly. Before I could join up the main fuselage I needed to cut and fix in the shortened tail, this was copied from the YF-12 so the profile is different. Not a big problem just some hot water manipulation and the usual glue and filler. Nose joined to fuselage, this took ages to do as the resin needed to have a bit more manipulation done to it so I could get it as close as possible to the kit fuselage. This took me back a step as I had to get the filler back out again. With that all done it was just a question of cleaning up and filling in the seam and old re fuel port. This is where I am now, base gloss black coat on, I will add a few coats of future when dry and then move on to the metallic base coat. Lots of hours so far but I have not lost the plot as yet, good job really as it is likely I will be building another 3 yet. In the planning phase are the YF-12C, SR-71C and the SR-71 Long Tail, I think once they are done that will be all the variants completed. Thanks for sharing the madness. Danny
  5. Well guys I am calling these four done, just over 9 weeks from start to finish and I have to say this is one commission I wish I could keep. Each airframe has been based on a specific image/images as per my customer¡¦s requirements, we must have exchanged a few dozen emails since then ironing out specifics. All four are based on the standard 1/72 SR-71 and YF-12A kits with the addition of various Eduard etch detail, Wolfpack Seats and the Kiwi Resin Conversion Sets for the A-12 and M-21. Hope you all enjoyed the WIP reports. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234957317-a-12-to-sr-71-titanium-quintuplets-wip/ Helped keep me sane that is for sure. Would not even like to have a guess at the hours put in but it allot that's all I know. As usual all painted with Tamiya acrylics. It was a big project so lots of pictures. A-12 YF-12A M-21 SR-71, this has proved tough to photograph, the weathering is a little stronger in reality, allot of the softer detail does not show up to well. Still another 2 to do these were recent additions to the project and not part of the original plan, A-12 Trainer the Titanium Goose with Kiwi Resin Conversion. This is going to be tricky as the 2nd cockpit is completely different to the SR-71B and will need to be scratch built. The second bird is the SR-71B, going to have a few days off and then get stuck into these two. Hope you all enjoy them, been a great project for me. Thanks for looking. Danny
  6. Finished a while back now but forgot to post it, i had to scratch build the intake tubes as there were none, if i was going to go through all this resin effort then that would have to change. Made the mistake of using Hannants Xtracrylic, forever unblocking my brush, never again. Lightly covered in a filter of Tamiya Smoke then Grey filters applied on the panels, not to much as it seemed from my research these schemes did not last long before being painted over. Build took the best part of 3 months and after many hours she was done, no text just a few pictures. I hope you all enjoy. 7. Following on from the 1/48 A-12 and YF-12A builds i did last year i have a new commission. This project was also to have been in 1/48 but a lack of available resin conversion parts meant that we swapped over to 1/72 scale. The plan is to build 4 airframes as follows. A-12 Oxcart using the stock 1/72 Italeri Kit with Kiwi Resin Conversion. M-21 with Drone, unlike the kit offerings out there this will be properly represented on the two seat A-12 not the SR-71 using the Kiwi Resin Conversion set and the stock Italeri kit. YF-12A Interceptor using the stock 1/72 Italeri Kit. SR-71 using the stock 1/72 Italeri Kit. Additional items are. Wolfpack Design seats, very very impressive detail. Eduard Etch set x 4 All aircraft will be finished as before in Tamiya Metallics apart from the SR-71. The guy i am building for is very knowledgeable on the subject and I have some very specific paint schemes for each airframe, I will come to these later on. There are more airframes to do but this is enough for now, we may come back to the A-12 Tintanium Goose, SR-71B, YF-12C, SR-71C hybrid and SR-71 Big Tail in the future. The project started on Monday 10th March and i am guessing it will be ready for the client in around 6 weeks. I started with the cockpit tubs, these are basic to say the least and as with the whole kit is just a scaled down version of the 1/48 Testors/Italeri offering. Not much to see here on the kit tub. Etch work in place with seat and scratch built throttle. 4 tubs completed. Standard and modified instument panels with etch. Next up was the resin conversions, some minor hot water manipulation and filler, same problem here as the larger scale and that is air bubbles. Once the airframe is complete i will use a liquid primer/filler to remove these. ( Dave please buy a vacuum chamber ) A-12 and M-21 Assembly of tubs to respective forward sections. SR-71 YF-12A A-12 M-21 Side by side Glair shields on the forward instrument panel will all be replaced with etch at the end. I have approached the assembly of the main body in the same way I did the 1/48 scale kits, I need to preserve the raised panel line detail for later on when I paint on the individual panels and chine detail. I use masking tape to make sure I get the filler exactly and neatly on the seam and not all over the detail. The tape will protect the detail during sanding, once done I will use liquid filler to go over the coarse Plasto filler, this gives a smooth finish and helps iron out the last of the defects. When I am happy the raised panel lines will all be reduced a little but in a controlled way, I just want enough left to be just visible after the main base paint goes on, these remaining details will serve as a guide for all the masking that is to come and there is allot. If all goes to plan the remaining raised lines should be barely visible when all the painting is complete. This is going to be a long job that is for sure. Lots of sanding fun That is it for now, the next stage will be the sanding and joining of the sections of fuselage front and rear, in between this I will be getting the seats painted. If all goes well I should have a further update in a week or so. Thanks for looking. Danny
  8. Well after just about a week she is done, although not quite as detailed as the 1/12 Tamiya kits straight out the box I have to say that as the build went along I became more impressed with the quality. I certainly will be adding a few more of these 1/9 Revell kits to the collection, decals were a challenge, I was expecting this but lots of patience and Microset/sol got the job done. This is the WIP, http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234955110-19-honda-rc-211v-revell-wip/ Model finished in the late Daijiro Kato scheme. Thanks for looking Danny
  9. Up until now I have always made the 1/12 Tamiya kits, the main reason being they are well designed and very detailed. I have seen a few other scales but I knew the detail was not in the same league and the accuracy on some was grim to say the least. However I really did fancy a larger scale kit so I snagged a few on eBay and took a chance, the following is the 1st. As always I started with the engine, the detail is less specific and where there were a number of different parts in the Tamiya kit they tend to just be one larger moulding in this kit. Still very good detail but just a bit trickier to paint as you dont have the luxury of airbrushing nice crisp individual parts. The only parts I have added are the 5 HT leads for the spark plugs. Tamiya metallics as usual and I used the Tamiya instructions for the same bike to get the rest of the painting detail that is missing. Next up the handle bars, all one piece, took a surprising amount of time to do, just had to add a couple of caps to the two hydraulic reservoirs. The next bit was the assembly of the rear shock, wheel and swing arm, these I have to say are very nicely made and I decided I would have a go at polishing the chrome finish, came out very well very quickly using some Tamiya canopy polishing compound, any fine polish would do the job. Front Wheel and forks, the only addition here is the small steel tube for the fork damper, (old applicator from an empty Revell cement bottle) I used Tamiya X-10 Gunmetal for the Carbon Discs. That's all for now, i have the exhaust pipes to paint and temper and then the bodywork to spray and decal. This is about 5 days work to date so with luck she should be done next week. Thanks for Looking.
  10. 1/32 Trumpeter Mig-29K Well it has been a long time coming but she is done, I started this last summer but with commission work coming in at a steady rate I did not manage to get allot done. I finally got stuck back in to it a couple of weeks ago. The only additional parts for the kit where the Aires burners, very nice they are too. Not entirely sure if the internal depth of the flame holder is correct but much better than the standard kit ones. I did buy an AIRES quick boost seat but it is too wide for the kit tub and not just by a little bit. I also added a set of intake covers and burner covers, the intakes on the kit have an internal FOB mesh, the kit representation was pretty grim so I decided the best option was to cover them, I suspect I will leave the burner covers off. As always the airbrake is up, probably would not be but whats the harm in a bit of modelling whimsy. As she is a carrier Aircraft I wanted to make it with the wings up, the wing fold on the kit is grim but I really struggled to find any useful images of it so I could scratch some improvements. They are only very lightly glued in place so if one day a nice resin set appears I can always change it out. Wings Folded I did a fair bit of research for the load out and configured her in an anti ship role with a couple of short and medium range air to air missiles. The two external tanks may be a presumption to far but I found a few images of MIG-29K models with them. As fleet defenders I would imagine range would be important just not too sure if the ordnance as well makes her too heavy. The Green is a base coat of Tamiya XF-65 with a post shading filter made with a few drops of white and thinned. The Grey is a base coat of Tamiya XF-19 with a post shading filter made with a few drops of white and thinned. A dark wash was applied to all the panel lines etc, my camera work really does not show it up to well. All the cam airbrushing done freehand and I am very happy with this, getting better every time i do it. I will leave the decals and the basic instructions alone, I suspect someone has already covered this long ago. Besides all my Trumpeter kits seem to be much the same making reference material essential to say the least. Time to add another Shelf. No to sure what the next build will be, I have a bit of time so I may well attack some of my 1/9 Superbike kits. Thanks for looking. Danny
  11. 1/350 Polar Lights Re Fit Enterprise. I started this commission back on the 12th November, and it was finally finished yesterday. It is a beautiful kit but a real pig to build if you are going to light it, 90% of the lighting is bespoke with a small PCB for the flashing lights and the deflector array. The kit was sprayed with Tamiya Pearl White with Tamiya Pearl Lacquer on top, the original studio version was pearlescent white. I decided to try and replicate this, it was not the easiest way to do it but the end result was well worth it. The base was a saga on its own, seemed to take forever to get here but i have to say it a nice job. She was picked up this morning by a very happy customer, I did have another one to build but I have put this on hold as it is not the sort of build you want to do in succession, I need a rest. One day I will figure out how to do night photos as she looks great when its dark, lights up a whole room. Now back to my longstanding Trumpeter MIG-29K, I am not doing another commission until she is done. "In Wildness Is the Preservation of the World" http://www.modelmasteruk.com/
  12. This was another commission and my first complete build for 2014, I was asked to restrict the weathering to represent a relatively new a/c. I had heard allot about this kit and I have to say for such a small scale the detail is stunning and it was a real pleasure to build, a very well thought out kit. This is also being picked up today. Danny "In Wildness Is the Preservation of the World" http://www.modelmasteruk.com/
  13. This is my latest commission, its a 1969 1/48 Monogram Typhoon. The last propeller model I made was when I was 14 years old and 1/48 scale is a tad small for me With a kit this age I was expecting trouble but I have to say the fit quality was superb with little or no filler required. As expected the surface detail was very limited but not bad all considering. Of course in the process of finishing this I have seen the New Airfix Typhoon and I have to say there could well be another prop in the future. I have a few days now before the next commission so I can jump back on my longstanding Trumpeter Mig-29K, really want to get this done before the year end. I was asked to build OOB with only very very slight weathering so here she is.
  14. Well this is my latest build completed, another commission and a very challenging one at that. This is the Stargazer Models 1/144 scale Discovery 1 from 2001/2010, the kit has a total length of 30"+. One of the biggest challenges was making the modifications for the bespoke lighting rig as there are no resin spares so I could not afford to make any mistakes. I was not going to light the engine bells as I thought it was too risky but I gave it a great deal of thought and took the chance. Back to year one apprentice bench fitting and my trusty Tamiya razor saw. The lighting in the Command Module was a challenge too as there is not much space to work with and you need to light the Pod Bay and CM Flight Deck independently. Lastly was the application of the JBOT Decals to the flight deck, this did make my head spin a bit as there is no real useful guidance so I spent a great deal of time looking at on line images. I finally managed to get some additional guidance from a JBOT decals pdf I found for it on line. The finish was done as usual with Tamiya Acrylic as always, XF-01 Mat White with a small amount of XF-19 Sky Grey mixed in to take the edge of the white as a very light grey finish was required. Variation of panels was done with a various mixes of light grey, these were still too dark so I applied a base colour filter over the top to lighten and blend. The model really came to life with the application of a much diluted grey wash, especially on the spine and Reactor Unit. Power is supplied via a 12v DC Outlet that i fitted into the base to keep things nice and neat. Overall I am very happy with the result, this is one I would like to keep myself Danny
  15. Well after the best part of 6 weeks my 1/350 Polar Lights Enterprise kit from the original series is complete. This is a Commission and built OOB with the Polar Lights Weathering and Lighting Set. Kit mechanics went together very well with the exclusion of the lighted shuttle bay, lots of time and effort spent here, not very easy at all. The lighting kit itself on paper seems a really simple and well thought out package but in reality it is let down by the push fit LED strip fittings. One minute they work the next they dont, the contact points are very light and you have to be oh so careful. I would be assembling one part and then check the lights only to find one or all had stopped, this is not very reassuring and I had to on more than one occasion stop and take it apart to re do the connection, not good. In the end I hard soldered most of the LED strips as I had no confidence in the long term durability of the connectors. I added some additional LED to various areas, specifically under the Bridge, there is allot of scope in the kit to do this. The weathering decals for the Saucer are huge; each one is the same sort of section as a very large piece of cake. To make it easier to get them on in one piece a harder decal material has been used. This idea does work but decal softeners are not so effective and i used allot of Microsol, all in all I cannot grumble with the result. Overall a great kit to build with some challenges along the way. Lights On, tried to take some night photos but my camera can not cut it, a shame as it really looks the part. Up Next another commission, Stargazer Models 2001 Discovery with lighting. Bye for now. Danny
  16. AMT, U.S.S. Defiant Just as the 1/32 Trumpeter Mig-29K Fulcrum was coming along nicely untill a commission dropped in my lap, not that I moan. I have done a fair bit of Si-Fi over the years but never a Star Trek kit. The lighting rig is bespoke and took a bit of tinkering, it is a mixture of LEDs and Fibre Optics all based around a 12v DC Supply. The less said about the kit the better as I think it is by far the worst I have come across and took allot of time and effort to get it looking like this. The stand is ok but I chose to change it as little as I knew over time it would drop with the weight of the kit plus all the lighting. While I was pondering how to solve this I came upon the idea to have the DC jack as the mounting pin in the top of the stand. This had the virtue of being able to separate the stand and model but also it meant you could position the kit any way you liked and give the stand some strength. The kit was all painted with Tamiya acrylic as usual, post shading to weather her a little and finished in mat. Weathering is a subjective thing here, I looked at allot of imagery and took a gentle approach. Hope you all like. Up next another commission, the new Polar Lights Enterprise Original series with Polar Lights Decals and Lighting Kit, busy busy, my poor old Fulcrum will have to wait. Regards Danny Attree http://www.modelmasteruk.com/

  18. I have had to take a small pause from my current project to undertake a small commision, dont get to many but this one i really did enjoy. A great little kit with amazing detail. Honda ST-70 Dax, 1:6 scale. Regards Danny
  19. I bought this Hasegawa kit a few years ago now from EBay and was surprised enough to find a nice set of Superscale Decals representing the Top Gun Adversary/Aggressor included. I could tell straight away that they were quite old as the instructions where little more than a poor photocopy. The first thing that stuck me was how very few decals there were, a small amount of research was required. To my surprise the Decals where correct, there were a few of these birds from around 1982 all with the same Camouflage, some varied very slightly in terms of nose colour and a small orange stripe at the rear behind the wing but other than that it was spot on, no national insignia or the usual abundance of placards, Cool who really likes applying hundreds of decals. The only real issue was the underside as the Superscale decals neglected to represent this so I had to do some extrapolation from the available information. A real nice touch is the fake canopy on the underside. There was a moment when I returned that I forgot I was looking at the underside, I can only imagine how deceptive that would be at speed and altitude, very clever. Fortunately the Superscale instructions came with the relevant Federal Standard colour numbers so I was able to match all 3 shades perfectly against my Tamiya Acrylics, I used the following site as it allows you to pick more than one colour and view them together, very handy. http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_fs.htm. The CATM AIM9 was a spare from my Academy F/A-18C and the ACMI pod was scratch built, panel lines where scribed where appropriate. I have to say for an old kit this went together very easy with a minimal amount of filler. I used this kit as a good base for me to experiment on for current long term build, a 1/32 Academy F-16I SUFA, this also has a 3 tone camouflage scheme and I really wanted to practice this so I could build the panel lines up and weathering using just filters and washes, no pre shading. Up until now all my birds have been the various shades of USAF grey and ghost grey, pre shading is fine when you only have one main colour. The whole thing took a couple of weeks which is a record for me and I am pretty happy with the result, probably one of the best visible examples of Area Rule Aerodynamics and a good looking plane as well. I hope you enjoy. Danny
  20. 1/32 Tamiya F-15E Strike Eagle. Additional parts Squadron Signal F-15 Eagle Walkaround, a real waste of time, most pictures are in black and white, about as useful as a chocolate fire guard. Wolfpack Design, AN/AAQ-33 Sniper XR Pod. Quickboost/Aires Seats. Eduard Ejection Seat detail set. N:B, The Aires seats do not come with the ejector seat guide rails so the original ones from the Tamiya parts have to cut off and glued in place, the Eduard set makes up for the missing seat placards, warning signs and ejection handles. I had waited quite a while until I built this kit with the hope I would do it justice, I actually run out of patience, far too good a kit not too build. In hindsight I should have waited for the DACO reference book to come out as that would have saved me time on the PC hunting for pictures etc. Its due to go to print in the next year or two so if I build another that will be the way I go for reference material. As I have come to expect from Tamiya the kit assembly was superb, no need for masses of filler as it has been designed in a way that the joins match various panel lines. Very crisp and clean as it should be for the value of this kit. There are a few defects, the pin marks in the engine nozzles, they could have done better there, Two Mikes now do a set to replace these, if they were available at the time I would have bought a pair. Slime/navigation strips, the Tamiya decals are a rich yellow and they do not look correct they should be a pale green/lime. Fortunately I have some replacements from Steel Beech winging their way across the pond as we speak. Canopy seam line, this was sanded out and polished to remove the moulding seam that runs down the middle of the canopy. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy, a vary pleasant way to spend a few months.
  21. Another from the cabinet 1/32 Revell Tornado ECR Tigermeet Overall a really nice kit all round, the only down side is the the instruction for marking out and spraying the yellow, the pictures in the manual are totally wrong and you need to have this in mind. The DACO reference book Eye On The Tigers was Essential there. I would have been nice to have added some additional detail sets but due to lack of funds she is straight out of the box. Modified the standard landing gear by removing all wheel mounting spigots and replaced with stainless steel welding rod, this stopped the wheel from flexing inwards and sagging, rock solid now. I added the recommended weight in the nose but I could have done with a little more, probably half again. All painted with Tamiya acrylics with a fair few washes and fine finishing with an assortment of Tamiya dry weathering sets. The weathering sets where real handy for adding the orange tint to the yellow tiger stripes. I have a standard 1/32 IDS that will get the proper treatment in the future, gulf war markings will be the plan.
  22. Another from the cabinet 1/32 Tamiya F-16CJ Block 50, for the most part this kit is straight out the box apart from the bits below. Wolfpack Design AN/AAQ33 Sniper Pod, Air Master M61 A1 Vulcan Cannon, Nice but tricky, All Tamiya acrylics/sprays with Microflat+Future gloss and dull coats, Reference Material, DACO Publications Discovering the F-16, TMOTA 2005 Decals from Two Bobs. I really like this kit, in a class of its own, i have another one for the future that i will give the full resin treatment, for a OOB kit the quality is pretty stunning.
  23. This will be my first WIP project on this forum. I have spent the last year slowly building up the parts I wanted, kit will be comprised as follows. This build will be my main job for the summer as i am expecting it to take 3 months atleast. 1/32 Academy F-16I SUFA Storm, Isradecals Publications F-16I SUFA, Wolfpack Cockpit Set, Wolfpack Exterior Set, Aires Landing Gear Bays, Eduard Ejection Seat Etch and Wheeliant Wheels. 1st of all i have to say what a great kit, the detail is fantastic and there are standard options though not included in the instructions to build a standard F-16D and the F-16D Barak with minor modifications to the spine, both variations of intake and engine nozzle included. Plenty of extra ordnance as well, including a rather nice Sniper XR Pod, all in all allot of kit for your money. I have started with the cockpit resin, the level of detail is amazing and it fits straight into the body on the standard lugs with no fitting required, I like that.
  24. Finished about this time last year, i had to scratch build the intake tubes as there were none, if i was going to go through all this resin effort that would have to change. 1/32 Tamiya F-14A Scheme and Decals VF-84, High Vis Jolly Rogers, Cam Pro Decals Aires Resin F-14A Cockpit with Eduard MK GRU-7A Ejector Seat etch Wolfpack Design Refuelling Probe Wolfpack Design Air Brake Assembly Wolfpack Design Boarding Ladder Assembly Wheeliant Wheels Master Alpha Probe and AOT Probe Crossdelta, Stiffener Plates. Daco Publications Uncovering the F-14A/B/D
  25. Built this a few years ago now, scale is around 1/35 but i can not remember who made the kit, it was i nice kit though. Used a 1/24 Resin Harrier ejection seat and some other bits to spruce up the cockpit. Thanks for looking Danny
