Despite being old enough to know better, having recently found this kit again after I mislaid it, it seemed only right that I build it during this iconic GB. This GB will no doubt be awash with other Hawker Henleys, so I'm afraid it just shows a distinct lack of imagination on my part. I haven't built a Formaplane vacform before, so this will be a first. Also I have an old Airfix Hurricane which I plan to use for parts to supplement the vacform parts. Fortunately the kit comes with scaled plans, so I can immediately see whether a part is suitable or not. Heres the kit, which compared to a Rareplanes Supermarine 224 I built a while ago looks a bit more agricultural. However let's see how it goes. All tips, encouragement and Micky taking greatly appreciated cheers Pat Edit : As you will see from the thread below, I had originally intended building the Formaplane vacform version but will now be building the Magna resin version instead ! I have only ever built one resin kit before and never used metal parts so lots to learn ! cheers Pat

Hmm, this may be a tad ambitious ... The kit ... Not shown are two round contrail rods, and a small, really small, sheet of clear plastic. No decals, and no guns or bombs - none of these were in the kit. And the instructions ... Looking at the photo of the instructions, I've just realised that something I thought was an alternative tail skid is really the break. Planned changes: I'll see about replacing the engine, either scavaging from another kit, or scratch-building the thing. The fin/rudder and tailplane/elevators will probably be replaced with plasticard, which is easier to work than smoothing a flat-plate vacform cut out p.s. I'll have to work out a solution for the wing root spars - plastic studs just will not be strong enough.

Hi All I have been going through the stash looking for inspiration for this GB, and like most of us fancied doing something a little different, which is after all why many of us are prompted to join these GB's in the first place. Having rediscovered the Henley still in the jiffy envelope I bought it in, it ticked all the boxes. As you can see the parts have been roughly removed from the backing sheet, so lots of prep to be done, sanding to the wee small hours etc. This is my first Vacform kit, despite having quite a few I have never previously been brave enough to build one. So all help and support through this build will be gratefully received. http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy113/Jockney007/image_zps7ac71007.jpg http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy113/Jockney007/image_zpsc4a4e54b.jpg http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy113/Jockney007/image_zps4579ae2d.jpg http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy113/Jockney007/image_zps4579ae2d.jpg And with any luck it should come out looking similar to this http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy113/Jockney007/image_zpsa3aa84b1.jpg
