Hi everybody, in case you haven't been following the recent Floatplanes and Flying boats GB, I present to you my entry to this very enjoyable GB: Hasegawa's N1K1 Kyofu (Rex) in 1/72. It is a very nice kit and I made only a few modifications: the engine exhausts were replaced by brass tube the plastic pitot tube was replaced my Albion Alloy tubes (it doesn't necessarily look better this way, but it is not as likely to break!) I experimented with the stressed skin-effect. It turned out be a bit heavy on the rear fuselage, but given the fact that is was my first try, I am quite satisfied.

Ok. Some you know this...but this is what I am going to build... This isn't my build thread, obviously. My goals? To take more time with this little beauty. Also, try to scratch some better interiors, which I usually skip. I might try to rig it completely with EZ-line. I think this will not be so weathered, since it was a civilian craft and not flown into the sturm and drang of warfare. It'll be OOB, except for whatever scratch I manage to construct. I am going o to try to make the build last 2 whole weeks...that will be tough. Happy modelling all! --John

Here is the beginning of my GB contribution...the D.H. 60G Amphibian from Avis Models. It looks like a promising little kit with some good small detailed parts, excellent moulding, no flash, etc...the clear parts are foil. I will be building OOB except for some additions in the cockpit where I see them needed. I will also be using the box art as a guide and will be retaining the white/silver colors. To this end I have primed the plastic with white matte from the Humbrol Acrylic rattle cans. This way the white paint will cover well and the silver aluminum will look bright and shiny. I will wait for this to dry over night and them begin inside the cockpit with some detail and some additional colors. And away we go! --John
