  1. Hey I am pleased to show you some pictures of my latest project. The figure was completed a few days ago. This is a resin and produced by Indistria Mechanika.
  2. Hi guys, I've been working for the last few months on and off with these resin kits. I thought I would get them finished off for the Halloween season. I hope to get them finished by this Saturday, they are my first attempt at painting figure models with flesh tones and also my first attempt at painting eyes. I used a cocktail stick to paint the eyes in and the details around them. I've just given the models a lacquer gloss coat to seal the work that I have already done and I shall be adding some fine details tomorrow and then giving the model a dull coat apart from the eyes and the lips which I will leave in a gloss finish. To be continued.
  3. Calling this one done. Will try and get some better pictures done later. Thanks for looking. Rio

  8. Volkssturm, Germany 1944-5 1:35 Master Box As the war continued to go against Germany and the attrition of trained men of fighting age put more pressure on their military, many civilians and veterans of WWI were pressed into service. Men, boys and even women were trained to operate the basic weapons of defence, such as the Kar98 rifle, and the dreaded Panzerfaust that could turn a housewife into a tank destroyer, providing she could get close enough to fire it effectively. The Volkssturm, which means "people's storm" were hastily trained, often by those that had been invalided out of the service, or older soldiers that weren't fit for front-line service anymore. This set contains five figures in injection moulded styrene on one sprue that is held within a standard figure sized box. Included are the following: A moustachioed old soldier with puttees, greatcoat and forage cap, loading a Kar98 rifle, which has the bolt back and a clip of ammo being pressed home. A lady in a fur-trimmed ¾ coat with matching hat, toting a Panzerfaust on her right shoulder in the aiming position. An older soldier in great coat, boots and forage cap explaining the finer points of firing a Panzerfaust. An officer in great coat, boots and holding an instruction manual, with the option of either holding a cigarette in his right hand, or an alternative part that represents an empty sleeve, allowing him to be posed as a former soldier, recalled to duty. A gentleman in a double-breasted rain coat, trilby and brogues, watching a demonstration intently with his hands clasped behind his back. As usual with Master Box, the sculpting is first rate, and all the figures are broken down sensibly to improve detail whilst minimising joint clean-up. All figures have separate legs up to their waists, with the coat tails as separate thin parts that shroud the upper legs realistically, so there are no solid areas when viewed from below. Heads, hats and caps are separate too, as are the arms, and the lady has been sculpted on a frame appropriately smaller than the men in the set, so that she looks distinctly female. The colours, part numbers and construction notes are found on the back of the box, using Vallejo and Lifecolor paint codes as reference. Conclusion A superbly candid scene during the desperate final days of WWII is depicted, needing only a battle scarred backdrop to finish it off. Sympathetically painted, these figures will tell their own story. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  9. We are very happy to announce that we will be stocking Ultracast products at Sovereign Hobbies. The first order is due to land in a couple of weeks.
  10. Well, better late than never! Here is my GB entry. After much stash searching, procrastination, rethinks, and other excuses i have settled on this for my subject. Admittedly i am not a regular figure builder, and this is outside the comfort zone, but hey, its something different (for me). Heres the pics... As you can see he's quite a grumpy looking chap. I hope he doesn't make me grumpy in the process!! Thanks for watching, cheers Greg
  11. We've got some great items from MiniArt available right now, including two new kits: A Soviet SU-122 Self Propelled Gun with full interior detail and a set of Resting WWII German Tank Crew figures. For full details, please see our newsletter.

  13. Ok this was something I originally suggested way back in 2013 but then it was just for the airforce, this was a bit restrictive. It got into this years vote and I had completely forgotten about it and didnt remove the earlier restrictions. But it seems like there is still a lot of interest in this so its now opened up completely. So if it was made in Italy or wore the Italian colours then bring it along. I have always liked the flare and passion the Italians put into their designs and if that wasnt enough then add a few more cylinders or even an extra engine!! Which would you rather listen to a Ferrari 250GTO a Lamborghini Miura or a 60s Renault or 2CV!! So lets go for a drive around Tuscany, a cruse over Lake Como, sail the Tyrrhenian Sea, or a flight along the Amafi Coast. 18. Bit of a bold title but not sure the right wording I am painting (badly) an Andrea Figure call Mila Kusnagi I think she is "loosly" based on the Starcraft game world Ghost charactors either Sara Kerrigan or Terra Nova. Now Terra looks like this: As you can see Terra has more armour around her chest area than Mila does and my question is how can I change Mila's armour to look like Terra's? Miliiput or Green Stuff I sometimes see people using? Bear in mind I have never done any conversion or any figure before but I rekon it can't take much to slightly change the figure.
  19. Has anyone tried or used the Archer Eyeball transfers?
  20. The first two are 54mm white metal figures: The third will be from the recent ICM French Infantry 1914 set, in 1/35 scale.... I did figures frequently when in my teens, but have done only one in recent years, so I expect a learning curve. The ICM set, in fact, I view as being practice of a sort for the metal figures, but I intend to get at least one decent figure out of the lot of four. The Dragoon (of a line regiment) is billed as in campaign dress, but is not really. I am probably going to do it as a different regiment, one with yellow facings rather than pink ones. The Voltigeur sergeant is of the voltigeur company of a line battalion, not of a voltigeur regiment. As was common for the skirmishers in Spain, he has discarded his outer coat, and is wearing only the waist-coat. It will be a little while before I can start in earnest, as I have two biplanes going in the Lesser-Built Air Forces GB here, that must be finished before the end of April, and are only about half-done at present.
  21. I am new to Britmodeller and I am hoping to get constructive criticism on the kits I have built and painted so far. I need to work out how to post the pictures on here but I have been doing this for about a year and a half and I enjoy it very much. I lost my son in an accident almost two years ago and I fell into this hobby as a means of distraction, little did I know how much it would take hold of me. So,please be honest and constructive. I am hoping to improve my skills and maybe one day enter competitions. Thank you
  22. Here is my finished Christmas present that my fantastic boyfriend bought for me. I love the novel and have studied it at A Level and now I teach it to my GCSE students. I enjoyed this kit, it was VERY easy to build and went together easily. My favourite thing is figure painting so the building part is necessary but not my favourite pastime. I am pleased with the finished result and, if I was to do it again, I would consider doing a black and white version which would be tricky but interesting.
  23. Hi Everyone, Here are my efforts so far in 2013. According to the number of photos I uploaded I have completed 11 models this year which is quite shocking for me. I know its not the end of 2013 yet, but I am still hoping that I might get 1 or 2 more done before the end of the year. I have HMS Astute, a Red Arrows Hawk and USS Ronald Reagan underway so hopefully once I get my workshop back to normal this weekend, I can make some progress on them. Anyway onto the photos. All comments gratefully received. Hopefully add a couple more kits to this thread before the end of the year. Thanks for looking, Rick
  24. I was casting about for something quick and fun to do last week and my wife suggested the Super Dungeon Explore miniatures, which have been sitting in the box for a few months since I bought the game. I thought that'd fit the bill nicely, little did I know how much pain I was letting myself in for vis-a-vis mould lines and assembly! It took about three days of spare time to clean up and assemble the 50-odd figures, and once I'd primed them I had to go right back and do some more scraping. They're still not perfect, but I wanted to get the brushes out and paint something at the weekend. Hence these two kobolds with slings. The sculpts are cute but the detail is a bit soft so I've been trying to define the shapes with a bit of trompe-l'oeil on the bandages and around the mouth. I'm also trying to kick some bad painting habits (not thinning enough) and paint with a global light source rather than highlighting everything. Click to embiggen I'm an incredibly slow (and clumsy) mini painter, but I like the brush discipline the process is painfully teaching me so I'll probably keep coming back to these over time. It's not obvious from these kobolds that the designs are deliciously chibi, but when I get to the heroes the appeal should be clear Cheers, Will
