1. So I just placed my Italia in the box and started a new Ferrari! A few weeks ago a store was having a sale on Revell USA kits. Bought their whole supply... This is one of those kits. Body and bottum plate were a bit warped but nothing some hot water could fix. And some more cleanup work then usual but for that low price I won't complain! Box and parts: Started with priming the parts but it got to humid to paint... Storm comming... This I still have to do. Could paint a bit more, but don't want to mess things up. Not sure yet what wheels I'll put under. Probably the wheels I had planned for the Italia. The colour of the car will be Ferrari Grigio Silverstone. Or pearl white with a black top, not sure yet. Not much yet, but wanted to share my new project! Mike
2. Someone asked me a few picture's of an Enzo I build a while ago. Thought I'd share those here to. Since I build it the body started to let go of the frame a bit, but soon this on will be replaced by a Tamiya version... It has gloss black wheels because I was out of chrome and wanted to finnish the model. Also removed the sides of the rear window and place some black mesh behind that. Mike
3. A hard to find kit in an Italeri box, but it turns out that it's been reboxed for the domestic Korean market by Academy, as "European Classic Car". No mention of the maker, nor any Cavallino Rampantes on the box art or decal sheet. However, all the bits are there, and it can be had for a bit less than £20 delivered from eBay. Some detailing under the bonnet to fill the empty space, with a fair few bits and pieces liberated from the spares box or scratch-built. Otherwise it's pretty much OOB. Colour is a home-brew "Vinaccia" (so much nicer than "Aubergine") made with Zero paints components, and the interior is Ferrari "Tobacco" aka Vallejo Tanned Flesh with a dash of yellow added... bestest, M
4. Hi Everyone, Here is another 2015 build : Revell 1:24 Enzo Ferrari which is part of the Revell Ferrari Set II. This kit has some mesh pieces in the kit, which have to be cut to the correct shape to get them in the kit. Anyway here are the photos of the kit. Updates will follow. Thanks for looking. Rick
5. There are way too many red and yellow Ferrari's about so wanted to do something different. This is the Humbrol violet multi-effect rattle can. Unfortunately my 8mp phone cam doesn't really do the paint effect justice. 20150323_214247_zpskkhxycac.jpg.html]
6. I managed to persuade the swmbo into letting me splash out on one of these recently, admittedly there is a lot of t&c's that have come with it. This car for me I said at the start of the year was the car I wanted to finish the year owning but then again I did say the 1/12 version but it was one of the compromises I had to make to get my way (there's no saying that I won't get the bigger one in the future) I do just want to say that I have done a few resin cars in the last year and for most of them they have been pretty good for fit and having little or no added bits that needed trimming but when I opened the box for this I was and still am astonished at how well the bits go together and how on the white metal bits there is literally no bits on them that need to be taken away honestly all that I need to do before paint is drill a few holes out, one thing that is a tad ominous is the amount of bits, my highest parts number car to date was the ejan/dtm red bull I did last year and this has around double if not more pieces to contend with So enough of me waffling on about how good mfh is and on with the car The obligatory box shot The decals The main body Body with the nose The little box with the wheels and white metal bits The wheels and tyre This is going to be an epicly long build so watch this space Shaun
7. Hi Everyone, I saw this come up on my Facebook newsfeed tonight, it is apparently a concept from Ferrari's design office for a 1000 bhp formula 1 car. I love the look of it and think it will make F1 more interesting if the teams did this. Do you think it would be hard to scratch build something like this ? Here are the pictures and links http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/ferrari-formula-one-concept-car-2015-02-17 http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117711 What does everyone else think ? ATB, Rick
8. Hi Everyone, Here is another 2015 build : Revell 1:24 Ferrari F430 which is part of the Revell Ferrari Set II. This kit has some mesh pieces in the kit, which have to be cut to the correct shape to get them in the kit. Anyway here are the photos of the kit. Updates will follow. Thanks for looking. Rick
9. Ferrari 250 GTO 1:24 Revell plastic kit The Ferrari 250 GTO was developed as a homogenisation car for Ferrari to enter the FIA group 3 GT car category, built between 1962-64 the GTO means Gran Turismo Omologata in Italian, or Grand Turismo Homologated in English, only 39 where built. The Tubular chassis holds the 3l V12 engine up front, driving the rear wheels through a 5 speed manual gear box. The car carries a Berlinetta style body, (Italian for sporty couple) that was designed using a wind tunnel and track testing; it was unusual in not being designed by a design house or an individual person. The 250GTO has become a big collector’s car, with only 39 genuine examples being build the demand is high, driving prices well into the millions, with one belonging to Sir Sterling Moss selling for $35million in 2012 Revell have given us a Ferrari 250GTO in 1:24, giving the option of chassis Number 3757 in its Le Mans 1962 colours, or later while owned by Nick Mason or a silver car, chassis 3851 as raced by Henri Orellier at Montlery in 1962. Construction kicks off with the engine, it’s a copy of the 3 Colombol V12 from the Testa Rossa with the engine being made from a number of parts, the block is in 2 parts with ancillary parts being added to it. I will take time to look at reference photos to get the parts painted and detailed nicely. The tubular chassis come cast as a big part, but take care my example has broken with one of the front rails breaking, The rear axle sits on leaf springs and you will need to get the drill out to open up some holes to fit it together, don’t glue the axle between the springs and this will help you line up the axle, prop shaft and engine later in the build. The front A frame suspension is added and here you need to add the real metal springs, and it’s held together with some small screws, careful application of glue should allow the suspension at the front to work but I wouldn’t be too heavy handed trying it out! The interior come next and the parts copy the real cars interior well, looking at the instructions you can build the body, engine, chassis, and interior separately, and paint them before bringing them together for final assembly. The body comes moulded as a single part, with the various doors separate. The shape looks good to the pictures I’ve seen and it captures the shapes and lines of the 250GTO nicely to my eye. There is a big mould sprue in the windscreen aperture that needs removing and you will need to be careful not to damage the body when chopping it out. The doors, bonnet and boot parts come on the next sprue, this looks well moulded and a quick dry run shows the parts are a good fit into the shell. They all have hinges to allow you to pose them open or closed on your build. The lower front valance is also a separate part, and looking it should be OK to glue this on before adding the chassis and interior which is good as the fit on a dry test isn’t great and will need some sanding and filling to erase the join, I will do this before painting the shell. You get two chrome sprues in the kit the first shown above contains details and parts for the body. I feel my review sample is a little heavy on the chrome and I will strip this and re-paint on my build. The second sprue contains parts for the Borrani wire wheels, each wheel is made up from 3 parts the wheels look nicely done and the parts look to be nice and in scale when built up, again I’m not sure on the chrome finish and I think I’ll strip the chrome and re-paint it for a better finish. Please note there are 4 parts that aren’t needed for this build on this sprue. There are 4 rubber tyres, I feel the detail is a little heavy on the side walls, but should be OK after a rub with some sand paper to weather them down a bit; the tread detail is nice though and again after a rub over will be great. There is a clear sprue in the box; it is bagged separately to protect it from scratching, with the parts not being too thick to spoil the look of the model. There is a nice decal sheet that will allow you to build one of 3 cars as mentioned above. Looking at pictures on the net they look correct. They are well printed and the colours look good and they should cover well. Conclusion This is a nice model of a very sexy car! I look forward to seeing this model on my bench. There is a variety of aftermarket bits and bobs to enhance your build should you want to, but it is well detailed out of the box. Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers. For further information visit
10. Fujimi Ferrari F2003-GA This was brought by the swmbo for last xmas and im in limbo with a few other projects at the moment so its a good time to start something new heres the box its nothing exciting but im in the habbit of this now And all the goodies i aquired for it since its going to go quite slow as i need to finish my senna build and the f138 build first but i will get bits done on this in the breaks also i have 3 weeks off from work now and the kids go back next week so ill have a couple of weeks to really crack on soon
11. Someone's had a respray done -- and it's probably better than the original factory paint job! bestest, M.
12. Ferrari F138 2013 Fujimi 1/20 This is something that was brought for me by my lovely wife for my birthday earlier this month, I have a thing for any Ferrari F1 so this is right up my steet and as i dont do one that often i thought i would do a full wip on this so here goes. This is a really well thought out kit, maybe a little fiddly in places, but overall good. The main body is moulded in a very shiny piece of red plastic but its all going to get a once over with wet and dry so doesnt bother me The decals are good, i've never had a problem with fujimi decals before so lets hope that streak continues One of the good things also is that they come with a kind of do it yourself markings of white decal or it give you the option to do the white marking entirly yourself as it comes with just the sponsor decal also (if you understand wht i mean then we are messed up together) it also comes with a steering wheel decal The wheels dont look great but if the airbrush i just aquired works out to be as good as people say then i will redo them with some more realistic paint As you can see i have already made a start by sticking the radiator ducts on the side of the body, i really dont understand why they make these cars like this, also i stuck on the rollover hoop I also started the nose cone, like with the body it came in 4 or 5 different parts that left a nasty seem line running all around the edge, it was filled with super glue and sanded back, just need to go over it with a finer grade to smooth it off before painting Heres a dry fit of the body parts, it comes with 5 pieces and also the side pods are rather annoying to get around the bottom of the radiator ducts but when you get it rite it all clicks in to place I am really looking forward to this car as it is going to be done so that the engine cover is removable and there maybe a small amount of engine detail done but it will be hard due to the fact that there is not really any good photos for the previous seasons f1 cars engines about out there i should get around to priming most parts over the weekend then hopfully get some colour on it next week im going to use tamiya ts 85 which is a mica red colour as looking at this car and the f2012 this one is a bit darker and very close to there 2009 car and ts85 was make for the tamiya f60 (2009) so its a good place to start Thanks for looking and any comments/critisism/advice are welcome cheers Shaun
13. Hi Guys (are there any female members?) Here are some samples of the Formula One kits that I have built in the past. Am I a Ferrari fan? Sorry, but yes. Am I a Schumi fan? Yes again (but not sorry) Anyway, the quality is not that good and it looks like I will have to put my apron on and do some cleaning of my kits, but if you want to see more of them then please click HERE Formula 1
14. Hello everyone, I recently completed Revell's Ferrari 360 Spider as a "filler" model whilst in between other builds. I got busy with work and was only away from modelling for a couple of weeks, but somehow I just lost interest in ALL of my kits - hence I had to pick this one up as a "mojo restorer" of sorts. As far as the real machine is concerned, I much prefer the Ferrari 430 to the 360, but to be honest this one had the smallest parts count (around 70 I think) out of all the kits in my stash, and I just wanted to get the satisfaction of completing something, so I got cracking. First impressions were promising and the build was fairly straightforward. Painted the car using ACE Hardware's signal red enamel paint straight from the spray can, followed by wet sanding with progressively finer grades of sandpaper from 2000-5000 grit. The model was then polished with Meguiar's Scratch X remover and then with Meguiar's Fine polishing compound. I have discovered that these 2 products are excellent, if not better substitutes for Tamiya's fine and ultra fine polishing compounds (and significantly cheaper), so definitely try them out if they are available in your area. Its interesting how in a place like Dubai, one is always on the lookout for construction materials/DIY store items to substitute as hobby tools and materials since the scale modeling hobby is more or less non-existent here and the hobby shops only do radio control. Ordering online can get pretty expensive, so I always have a look in general purpose hardware stores to find the stuff I need. Mind you, all this was before I discovered the excellent MrColor range from GunzeCreos, and I can swear by their quality and finish, so for all my future builds I will be using those paints extensively! Anyway, back to the car. Good, simple, quick build without any major issues except the windshield fit. Plenty of dry fitting and sanding around the edges was required before I could get it to fit snugly in its place. However, on the whole, while I am satisfied with the build, I feel that there is something "wrong" with this model. Its quite difficult to point it out - is it the undersized wheels? Is it the the cartoonish dashboard and radio decals? Is it the out of scale mesh grill provided by Revell? Maybe the panel line gaps are too wide and perhaps out of scale? The exhaust tail pipes are also way too thick for 1/24 scale. Perhaps all these factors are a departure from the realism of the car making it look toy-like, which is quite disappointing. I have heard that the Tamiya 360 is a mind-blowingly brilliant kit, especially with the later release version that includes PE parts. While I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the Tamiya kit, I would say build this one only if you are looking for something fun and easy - advanced modellers are better off with something else. Anyway, here are the pictures. Let me know what you think! Cheers, Ali
15. Ferrari f150th 2011 f1 car here is another ferrari to add to the work/kitchen table progess on this is going to be painfully slow due to a couple of other builds i need to finsh so this is it for now
16. Another great kit from Revell in their "599" series: Highly recommended! bestest, M.
17. Just announced by Tamiya, ref TAM24333. http://t.co/7BgaCeJvqw
18. right im calling this one done before i get to carried away with little imperfections
19. Ferrari f1-2000 This was a gift my boys got me for fathers day this year so i fully intend to take my time and make sure everything is perfect so they can "admire" it for years to come. first up is the normal box shot then ill get into it up to where i last took a photo now the detail kit right so gettimg into it this is where i started, the cockpit prep a bit of floor and engine fitting, neither is anywhere near finished yet. the little injection marks on the tea tray will never be seen once put together so im not worried about them now its the kits radiator inlets which are one of the a/m parts and they look really good, the have the housings for the electrical equipment on them this is a a/m part for the fuel injection system i think, it goes at the top of the engine and from the referance photos ive seen im pretty sure its what squirts the fuel into it and last for today is a couple of shots of the body after priming and a couple of coats of tamiya ts 49 bright red overall at the moment for me its slow progess but hopfully it will be done before xmas but im taking it slow
20. Paint is Zero Paints "Blu Abu Dhabi". Built using the Ferrai configurator to check options -- carbon sills and "driver zone", privacy glass, Daytona seats and some Alcantara in the cabin (OK, just various shades of grey and black). There are things that Fujimi could have done differently (and they are things that I'm sure Revell will do differently if/when they get an F12 into production), but overall, I really enjoyed this build. I don't think the simplifications are really visible now it's finished, and personally, I don't find the stance, ride-height or wheels/tyres at all offensive. And I have one on my shelf now, not sometime next year! bestest, M.
21. Slow beginnings, but I wanted to get the body shells painted so that they can cure properly before final polishing while other work gets under way. The Daytona is Zero's "Blu Dino"; the 599GTO is "Rosso Scuderia", and a matt (ish) black (ish) homebrew for the roof. These will go slowly while I work on some stuff for SMW 2012, but at least I've started! bestest, M.
